Roger Christian recently confirmed rumours of digital versions becoming available in November 2014.  It's possible these will be the original versions.

 When/where was this?

Last week's episode of Rebel Force Radio.

It would be nice to own the OUT on Blu-Ray, but I don't see the point when Harmy's Despecialized Editions are on the internet. But to each his own I suppose.

So you're saying that you see no benefit in upgrading a recreation (which by necessity will never quite be ideal) based on very low quality sources with a proper restoration? That's... odd.

Harmy is updating his projects and I with patients the Despecialized Editions will be just as good as the Blu-Rays. Plus with ANH:R already out and ESB hopefully coming soon I would never watch the unaltered version of STAR WARS and ESB again.

Do...you not understand that that's what we're talking about? An official blu-ray release of the original unaltered trilogy?

ANH:R is better......And with what I've seen of ESB:R that is far better too. Have you seen the Yoda lip synching? I'm just saying don't shit your pants for no reason.

But you're missing the point of the whole site, which is to hopefully spark enough interest in an official release of the unaltered version of the films that someone in the higher-ups greenlights the project.

There are two main reasons for this, and one is so that people who want to watch the original, unaltered films (which is the majority of the people on this board) can do so with an official, professionally-restored release in high definition, hopefully from scans of the original negatives, like they deserve to be able to do (and like the film deserves to be released), without having to support revisionism by purchasing the "specialized" versions that have replaced the original versions in order to more-or-less legally download the fan edits.

On a larger scale, it's also about calling attention to the revisionist history thing. If Lucas wants to edit his films with every new release, he has that right, but what he doesn't have the right to do is to erase a piece of what has become cinematic and cultural history, and he has done this by making the once Special Editions into the now Only Editions and refusing to entertain the idea of releasing the un-specialized versions that made Star Wars such a part of our global culture. This is a much broader issue than just fans of Star Wars who want to see the movies like they saw them as children; in fact, there are several people who post here that aren't necessarily fans of Star Wars, but who disagree with Lucas' willful destruction of cinematic and cultural history, even Lucas himself is against it except when it comes to his own films.

It's all about giving Star Wars the care and attention-to-detail it deserves as a piece of cultural history, and even though we fans are the only ones who seem to be willing to do that right now, it should not come down to the fans to be the keepers of the flame, especially not with a franchise as massive as Star Wars, the responsibility should not fall to us to give Star Wars the restoration it deserves or to right the wrongs or correct the errors left by previous edits. Harmy and Adywan (and many other amazing fan editors, even Frink) are doing incredible work, but they'll be the first to tell you (as Harmy already has) that they would be ecstatic if their work was replaced by official versions done with the same amount of care and attention to detail.

That's good and all and I've preached this very thing for years, but a website in which its most popular thread has only 4 million views while everything else on the site is basically ignored is not going to stir up anything. Ever since the blu-rays were released we have asked for this. The entire Star Wars fan base that has an internet connection has asked for this and perhaps with solidarity and ferocity the higher-ups might finally do the right thing. Not because of this site, but because all of us stood for what we believe in. When it comes to this fight us SW fans have been engaging with the industry, this site is irrelevant. Secondly, I am not here about the OUT coming out on Blu-Ray because I always knew it would come out even before Disney bought the franchise. I came for the Star Wars Revisited Saga and I shouldn't be chastised for it. I know the implications of the release of the OUT on the Blu-Ray and since this is, but merely a rumor I am not getting my hopes up. That's all I'm saying.

What is the worst line in the Prequel Trilogy?

Not to mention that Natalie Portman looks hideous in it.

You have got to be fucking kidding me? That's like saying Carrie Fisher wasn't really hot in ESB. Such lunacy!!!

I think Ric is referring specifically to the balcony scene in ROTS. It was clearly shot in the usual round of disastrous PT pickups, as Natalie looks much thinner in it, than in the rest of the film. Also her hair is all over the place unlike in the scene just after the nightmare, where she is in the same costume but looking curvaceous and with a decent hairdo.

On that subject, another terrible line is from that post nightmare scene, where Padme says "I doubt the Queen will continue to allow me to serve in the Senate". What?!?! You'll be sacked because you are pregnant, what kind of sexist f**ked up dark-ages operation do they run on Naboo anyway!? This line really made me question George's attitudes.

I assumed he was talking about the balcony scene in AOTC. He didn't specify.

Like the Death Star goof couldn't that just happen in real life?

Vader's helmet moving up and down in the wind needed fixing because it's clearly meant to be metal and heavy and the character demands a degree of wardrobe control but the trooper armour has always seemed lighter and more like glossy plastic so Han is just as capable of knocking it as Harrison was.

^ THIS!!!!!!! Has this been fixed? Everytime I watch ESB I'm nervous Vader's helmet is going to fly off.

We should probably start a "Spot the Errors: ROTJ!" thread

 Well, there's two big errors:

1 - the first half of the movie

2- the second half of the movie.

I'd like to think after watching the three Danedits that the movie is salvageable.

This is exactly what I was just talking about! :D

This is exactly why the world hates Star Wars fans.

Hey, no one had spotted the matte misalign on the Falcon @ Bespin until this week.

You sir are correct but there really cannot be loads more error finding is over thank god.

Happy Birthday Ady nurse that hangover with sime hair of the lamb

Highly doubt that. ESB was released in 1980 so the technology is a bit dated and SW fans are among the most obnoxious, overly critical and braggadocious fans out there (myself included). Someone is going to pick out something that is so irrelevant that it will take 3 pages on OT just to end another senseless debate. Do you remember the debate about the Millennium Falcon cockpit? There will be at least 3 more instances of this senseless bickering until ESB:R is released......Then.....ROTJ:R.....Fuck.

2 part question -

1. What is ady currently working on along the process?

2. What is there left to do?

 1. The Dagobah model to replace bad matte paintings in the background of some shots (and one ROTJ shot if I remember correctly).

2. Dagobah model, Han in Carbonite, Wampa, and a couple other tiny things that don't take much time, but require help that Ady is waiting on.

What is wrong with the Wampa?

I imagine a Margot Kidder scream from the same time period would sound sort of right (better than Ian McDiarmid sounding like Mark Hamill in ESB:SE97).

I believe those names should be reversed. I'm sure it was the other way around.

Leia screams at the mynock in ESB. Maybe some slight manipulation could change it enough to not sound exactly the same? Just a thought.

If that scream was added it wouldn't match whats going on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WASr5-mS238

Leia's scream at 8:59 would match better because it is a more typical scream. The manipulation with this particular scream would be a nice idea.

As for the edit as a whole; what is ETA of this edit?

Not to sound like an ass, but what's the point of changing background scenery that doesn't really add anything to the edit? e.g., ships on the horizon which were going left are now going right. It just seems like changing things just for the sake of changing things, regardless if it's fixing continuity, no? It seems a bit excessive to me, is all. Is this just an attempt to label the work as yours, or do you feel the additions are necessary?

Well anyway, great work on the fine touches, regardless of what I think.

Your post seems like complaining for the sake of complaining. Seems you two are on the same boat my friend. In a movie with hundreds of continuity errors ones like this bug the hell out of people. Ady changes usually speak to a decent percentage of SW fandom.

I was just making an observation and was curious as to why he would do that. We're here to talk about this topic, no? What do you want me to do, say thanks and just move on. It's just an opinion, man, so relax.

I never name called. It's just an opinion.

Also read the rest of my edited post in which I give a theory as to why Ady changed the directory of the escaping ships. Then hopefully you will understand.

Actually, I was talking about the scene at 4:40, which happens through the window that exposes the Slave I.

Like I said, it's great work nonetheless, regardless of what I think.

That's the clip I was referring to. There is no problems with the way Ady edited that clip as I have already explained why.

EDIT: Now that I've seen what you are referring to, your complaints are even more unwarranted than I had originally thought. Him changing the trajectory of the escaping ships makes sense due to the location of east platform where Slave I was located in. Though the ships could be coming from the direction that is in the Blu-Ray editions; this change makes more sense.
