They kind of put themselves into a creative corner where now the next movie pretty much HAS to take place almost immediately after this one.

No the fuck? They certainly shouldn’t skip over the training but who says the middle - end of her training couldn’t be fixated on?

And TFA didn’t even have a cliffhanger.

cliff-hangeror cliffhanger

a melodramatic adventure serial in which each installment ends in suspense in order to interest the reader or viewer in the next installment.

JJ never said Luke had a sizable role and Mark had nothing to do with merchandising and didn’t even do any official interviews regarding the film. So there was no deception there.

Also if you feel it was tacked on there’s nothing I can say to change your mind but I’m glad there’s not going to be any time wasted on finding Luke in Episode VIII. Literally the first scene in the film could be of them training together.

I like that we’re getting new elements in Star Wars like flashbacks and cliffhangers. I don’t see anything wrong with implementing new ways to tell a story. And while I would have liked to seen Luke for longer I liked that I at least got to see the. And there was enough to look forward to in Episode 8 even if you disregard the last scene. I’m sure they put it in there just so people wouldn’t be as pissed that he wasn’t in the movie.

The point is that TIE fighters were already designed almost 40 years ago, and now they are adding a function that it wasn’t designed to hold.

The Wright Brothers first Airplane were only designed for 2 people. What’s your point? Upgrading technology is a thing we do in real life so why is upgrading something not feasible in the Star Wars universe?

nor was in the new design.

And I’ve always disliked the Millennium Falcon’s design, mainly the cockpit placement making no sense.

And that’s my point (along with both side’s vehicles on Hoth). You forfeit your right to bitch about these TFA “problems” unless you acknowledge the same in the OT.

You TFA fanboys became like PT fanboys. The thread title is “What didn’t you like about TFA?”, not “What didn’t you like about OT?”. I am simply sticking to the topic.

The only reason the OT keeps being brought up is because you anti TFA people aren’t consistent in the least. If something nonsensical is in the OT it get’s a past but if it’s in the ST it’s a huge problem.

I’ve got a twinge of nostalgia for the Phantom Menace, and still get a little bit of enjoyment from watching it. I don’t have any nostalgia for Attack of the Clones, or Revenge of the Sith so I don’t think I care to ever see either of those again. Even with nostalgia aside I do believe that TPM is objectively the best of the prequels. ROTS has a high body count and is more violent, but overall it’s less watchable than TPM in my opinion since it looks very video-gamey whereas TPM looks pretty good to this day (other than some CGI).

I agree with you, but it sounds like your saying a high body count and more violence is a pro.

It isn’t necessarily a pro for me (at least not in a Star Wars film), but I think it’s a reason why a lot of fans find it more watchable than the other two prequels.

I know that, and I’ve never understood how “it’s the darkest of the three” makes it a better film.

But the darker ones are usually the more entertaining. All of the death, explosions and woe almost makes you forget the fact that the script could have been much better.

Someone thinking that TFA is too similar to ANH is a valid complaint while TIE Fighters have two seats is not.

As opposed to former, the later is actually technically valid complaint. As an expert, I can easily say that having a “gunner” with a rotatable cannon on a fighter is stupid. It is nothing but a waste for a fighter role ship.

I don’t see how having more options as it pertains to offence is a bad thing. Saves the pilot from having to concentrate on flying and blowing stuff up at the same time.

or the critiques

No, some critiques are more valid than others. Someone thinking that TFA is too similar to ANH is a somewhat valid complaint while TIE Fighters have two seats is not. Even though I don’t completely agree with the former critique I do realize that that can impact someone’s view on the film.

To Hell with the people who are going to say “It doesn’t feel like Star Wars”

Since my opinions seem to get lumped in with yours, could you tone it down a bit?

I think it feels like Star Wars but I can understand why some people disagree.

I’m talking about a hypothetical but okay.

EDIT:

because those people were probably going to say that anyway
