That line is going bye-bye in my edit too along with the second time when Finn says “I’m with The Resistance”. It’s almost like they were breaking the 4th wall with that one.

Also there’s so much of the Galaxy we haven’t seen so to say certain stuff doesn’t fit in is based on our quick glance into that universe.

While some of the tiny moments didn’t work in TFA (and in the other films as well) they add up an give the film personality. And removing something like Finn being excited about blowing up a TIE Fighter or removing the “Did you see that!” line reminds me of the PT in which people did cool things but they never reacted to them at all which made them seem kind of robotic.

In theory it could work but it can also feel disjointed but I can’t render judgement until I actually hear it while watching the fanedit

My soundtrack overhaul is a mix and match of all the music from all six films.

PT music is a must but I think you should at least keep Rey’s Theme. It’s important to have her theme be distinct seeing as how she’s our main protagonist.

You should cue the song right after Kylo stabs Han because it won’t really sync up if you don’t.

That could work though the way they both step from the shuttles is certainly different which creates a disconnect. The music is somber in ROTJ whereas the cue in TFA when Kylo arrives is frantic and this is due to their mannerisms. Even my suggestion of using 4:18 from Separatist Droid Invasion March doesn’t fit the scene adequately enough if you shoehorn it into TFA.

EDIT: This only pertains to Kylo Ren’s entrance though.

Ruin these nuts; the OT will always be the OT in my eyes. Even if they were somehow retconned it still wouldn’t affect society’s perception on them.

It’s also going to be very hard to find music that goes along with the beginning of the film like The Attack On The Jakku Village does. Especially when Kylo Ren is introduced because the music cue when he’s introduced is phenomenal.

They could’ve summed it up in a couple seconds. Bringing it up at all without answering just isn’t necessary either.

Why wouldn’t he interrogate her as soon as possible? They were kind of in a race to find Skywalker so there’s no reason he wouldn’t interrogate her.

I just don’t think that kind of modern talk sounds right in a space opera that takes place “a long time ago.”

“Did you see that” whether said or screamed is not modern at all though…

But can’t we wait until it’s out out before we start throwing balloon bags full of piss everywhere? I don’t think that Disney would do something overtly dickish. Especially considering that they’re pandering so much to us.

I like a decent percentage of these changes but there’s a few that confuse and intrigue me:

FINN IS NO LONGER AWKWARD AROUND REY

Finn has probably never flirted with a girl in his life so him being kind of awkward is natural though it can me cut down some.

-FINN NOW SUCKS USING A LIGHTSABER

Finn sucks with a lightsaber in the theatrical version too. He get’s beat by TR-8R and get’s decimated by Kylo Ren. And no, him getting a lucky shot on him doesn’t constitute him being skilled; he got his ass kicked. He got his ass handed to him so bad that Kylo could have killed him in his first pass which lasts about a whopping 8 seconds. I shit you not.

-Removal of Poe’s stupid line, “You talk first, I talk first?”

I thought it was funny. Inappropriate but funny

-Removal of Finn’s yelling street slang, “DID YOU SEE THAT?!”

-Removal of extra explosion after TIE fighter sinks into sand

Scientifically it’s possible but I think it was a little much. I’m probably going to remove it from my personal edit as well.

-Finn no longer whooping after hitting TIE fighter

It’s stuff like that and Han’s laugh after he destroys his first TIE Fighter with the turrets that make the film feel lively.

-Remove entire pointless sequence of Finn talking to BB-8 and asking him to tell Rey the location of the Resistance base

Good catch. Now that I’m thinking about it the scene doesn’t further the plot at all. When Maz’s Castle get’s sacked and The Resistance saves the day Leia and them go to their base anyhow.

-Remove line, “You got a boyfriend? Cute boyfriend?”

I’m just going to remove the cute boyfriend line

-Remove Maz’s awful line, “A good question, for another time.” (Basically, the writers acknowledging they wrote a shitty script)

Well considering that they were all in danger that wasn’t the best time to talk about how a lightsaber was obtained.

-Cut out the interrogation sequence between Rey and Kylo (There’s no point to it)

Character development? Also it’s theorized that him going into her mind and vice versa is what gave her certainty that she could use the force in a proficient way.

The music in the immolation scene is absolutely beautiful, but I don’t care about Anakin at all so the scene falls a little flat for me. Whereas in TFA not only Han a great deal but I also have an emotional connection to Kylo Ren so smaller stuff like Han touching Kylo’s face after he’s stabbed hits me harder than even the “I hate you!” line in ROTS.
