This is why Plinkett is needed.

I watched a lot of Plinkett’s reviews of the prequels. He made a few good points, but I disagreed with him a lot.

He’s coming back and it will be glorious. I even look forward to him tearing TFA to shreds even though most likely the conclusion will be that he’ll deem it a pretty good film overall.

As far as depth goes it’s a bit deeper than STAR WARS was. Especially when it comes to the villain aspect of the films.

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Care to form a rebuttal or?

Darth Vader was an epic villain precisely because 1) his backstory was revealed gradually 2) his prowess in combat was far superior to the protagonist’s, and 3) his internal conflict was hidden until the very end of the trilogy.

Kylo Ren fails on all three counts.

You fail to realize I was talking about the Vader in STAR WARS which is also known as A New Hope. I wasn’t talking about Vader in general. But Vader in STAR WARS was a one dimensional but awesome villain whereas Kylo is a layered character in TFA.

Kylo Ren is essentially the bipolar Anakin Skywalker from Attack of the Clones only less skilled in combat.

They’re actually pretty much on par with each other though we haven’t seen Kylo Ren engage someone in a serious lightsaber duel without being seriously injured.

The rest of your post is a bunch of meme filled hyperbolic garbage though.

EDIT:

I like it. Instead of Jedi vs. Sith, it would be Force-Sensatives vs. Non-Force-Sensatives. That is actually original.

Why are you quoting his post and not mine? I came up with that idea dammit lol

Personally, I think that C-3PO was hilarious in the final battle. However, I agree that the comic relief distracts from the battle sequence and should have been cut.

I think him saying “Oh this is such a drag” when R2 is dragging his head off is one of the cringiest moments in Star Wars history. That just kills the entire thing for me.

Thats a good point about the hand. Pablo’s tweet is confusing isn’t it? It’s a clan leader but it looks like it’s the same place Luke is with R2. And that low angle shot is probably from Rey when she was a little girl looking at Luke.

It’s unclear due to the rain and whatnot. You could also say that when the clan leader was about to swing down at whoever it could have Rey as well with Kylo Ren saving her.

I’m sure all the visions will be explained in the next films.

They better be. I also hope that they might explore “Force Flashbacks” more and make them into full on flashbacks.

What’s interesting is that we’re now seeing kids posting on imdb (and I’m sure TFN which I avoid) that are anti TFA and pro prequels. I like all the films but it’s an interesting turn of events.

Those types of opinions don’t deserve my confusion much less my spite. I either designate them as insane, young or contrarians and go about my day.

I think the video release will probably be hangover time for quite some people (it reminds me when TPM was released on vhs and dvd: “well, it’s not that great in fact… anyway, Ep II gonna be awesome !”).

That’s entirely possible but seeing as how long it took for movies to be released on VHS/DVD back in the day I have been lead to believe that people declared TPM as a disappointment long before it got a home release.

OK, I’ll put it another way: why does the audience need to know how Snoke discovered the news? And is it worth the entire rathtar scene just for that piece of exposition?

Well there is a lot of things that aren’t explained in this film so I don’t see how it would be advantageous to add to the list. Also what about Chewies injuries?

Besides, I think the rathtars really damage the movie and would be much better cut altogether.

If it had absolutely no impact on the plot I’d agree with you completely. It’s the worst part of the film but still essential.

It screws with the pacing to have an action scene there. The escape from Jakku only finished a couple of minutes earlier. The film needs a breather with a bit of quiet character stuff with Han. Then onto Maz.

The time between the escape from Jakku and when they run off to the Rathtars is 6:50 seconds. I think that’s plenty of time before the scene even happens. I didn’t even bother factoring in Han trying to talk his way out of the jam he was in before Rey accidentally released the Rathtars.

^Oops… sorry. I think I was remembering you posting something that someone else posted. :p

It’s okay. We’re but mere humans 😄

For the record I haven’t thought anything along those lines since I was like 15.

Batman Returns is great, fantastic or no.

I think there’s a sizable difference between a good or great film and a fantastic one. The number of movies I consider fantastic can be counted on one hand.

I’ve been seeing a lot more criticism for TFA as of late. I hope it reaches an equilibrium soon so we know exactly where it stands.

That’ll happen after the entirety of the ST has come out and the fervor of hatred the internet is swept up in (not just regarding Star Wars but regarding every source of entertainment) dissipates. TFA’s legacy will mostly hinge on Episodes VIII and IX though.

I don’t think you can edit the film in a seamless manor to make that reveal the slightest bit impactful. At best it’ll come off like a good PT edit meaning it’ll be only passable.

I think the question should be “Is the prospect that Kylo Ren is Han and Leia’s kid worthy of a big reveal?” And I say no. Everyone saw it coming and even the film makers didn’t deem it necessary to make it a bigger deal than it already was.

Well to me and many others ROTS has a few redeeming factors especially the score being the 2nd best of the PT. AOTC doesn’t even have that good of a score much less anything else. Say what you will about the Mace vs Sidious duel but that was a lot better than Anakin vs Dooku and especially Yoda vs Dooku. I at least found the rematch between Anakin and Dooku and some of the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan to be entertaining.

EDIT: And your Batman comparison is invalid, because Batman Returns is a fantastic film, being compared to Batman and Robin, which is a massive crap-fest. The Terminator one works though, as both of those you mentioned are crap-fests.

Fantastic? It’s worse than the painfully average droll that was Batman 89, but nostalgia is one hell of a drug. I’ll let someone else speak for me.

It has a 7/10 on imdb and 80% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics with 73% from the audience. I think 8.5 and above should count as fantastic but that’s just me.

It seems likely that Snoke has access to the Force, so why can’t it be assumed that he’s used the Force to get the information?

Because it’s not established that he can do things like that. Forcedunit is already a poor writing tool in situations where it’s kind of explained so no explanation at all would be nearly unforgivable. I think the best course of action is to trim the scene as much as possible while still having it be a proper scene. At least that’s what I’m doing.
