I won't be seeing any 3D movies anymore so can't give this new fps a try, all 2D versions seem to be regular. Too bad.

Yay! Welcome to the 2D-only club.

I'm stereo-blind, so 3D movies look terrible for me. Furthermore, they hurt.

I just want the fad go away, LOL.

When/Why did you become an OT purist?
Time

2004 as well, after watching the DVDs for the first and the last time. 1997 SEs were a fun alternative as ady said, but since then haven't watched those that much, either. Don't know if I ever will again. If they would have released the SEs as is I probably wouldn't as much of a purist I am now, even though I've always preferred the originals but now to the bitter end.

i aint trolling here. Just read my last post (s) and respond to my arguements, if U R that disagreeing with me. Dont resort to the last-resort tactic of calling somebody with a different opinion a troll....

Who said I was disagreeing or agreeing with you? I was talking about trolling.

I never saw any of the Star Wars movies as a kid, but I always do remember hearing from most fans that Star Wars was the best of the trilogy.  To be sure, I looked up IMDB's top 250 in 1996, and found that Star Wars was ranked #1, and Empire was ranked #26!  Below is the link to prove it.

http://web.archive.org/web/19961219233558/us.imdb.com/top_250_films

I looked at more lists, and found that around 2004-2005 is when ESB surpassed Star Wars on the list, and today ESB is the only Star Wars movie on the top ten.  Now I'm sure there were plenty of people in the 1980s and 1990s who considered ESB the best of the trilogy, but it seems like in the 1980s and 1990s Star Wars was considered the masterpiece of the trilogy, with Empire ranked behind it.  Now, in 2010, Empire is widely considered the crowning achievement of the saga.  Has anyone else noticed how opinions on these two films seem to have changed over the years?  I'm curious as to why they've change the way they did.

Star Wars is not a movie. There is no Star wars, episode, star wars. Star wars is the name of all 6 movies in both trilogies, not a paticular movie in paticular..... All Star wars films are called/named star wars; not a paticular movie called "star wars"...

LOL. Nice trolling.

Are you really saying that you'd rather leave more image out than that small change?

That was not my point. The point is who knows how many small changes here and there like that one are in the blu-ray release? Just take that little thing about the green clothes being changed to red in the Cantina scene in SW, which was pointed out just before Harmy released his version.

That's one reason why the blu-ray version probably shouldn't be used to create a theatrical version in HD. At least from a purist perspective.

But knowing the PT is not as old as the OT, there should be lots of unfaded prints out there which would look better than both the HDTV version and blu-ray.

It's true there are many changes both great and small.

For example, I remember those online text commentaries they did for the dvd's (I think they were called "depth commentaries") and something that was pointed out during an establishing nighttime shot of Theed in TPM (right after the "Weesa goin' Home!!!" and the Queen's ship blasting away from Coruscant) was that George requested that a bridge be added over the river on the right hand side of the frame specifically for the dvd release.

Actually, it might've been that the river wasn't even there at all in the original theatrical. I don't remember, it's been a while.

Someone with either the widescreen vhs or the laserdisc can confirm this for me.

Just checked my Widescreen VHS.....there is a river....there is no bridge.  I then checked the DVD....the bridge appears...it is at the end of the river where the waterfall would be seen.

Well, that change isn't related to my or YouToo's post so don't know why it's still being quoted. That change would appear in the HDTV version as well.

Because....

Too long, not funny, bad plot, unlikeable characters...

I don't remember the book being too funny...

Who's talking about the book? I thought we were talking about the movies. The film tries to be funny way too much with stupid one-liners and fails to deliver. Haven't seen it lately for a good reason so don't remember exactly. Ian was a good sidekick in the first film to have some good comments but he isn't good as a lead character. Also "his kid" is annoying as hell unlike the kids in the first film.

Too long? What kind of complain is that?

Bad plot? What, are you kidding? The InGen takeover is probably an even better plot than the first one. And this really gets into why JP3 is bad, atrocious effects aside, Spielberg insisted the animals never be made the villian because they're just animals. And he's right. Who's the bad guy in JP? Dennis maybe, the god of chaos willing that shit hits the fan. Who's the bad guy in TLW? Even easier, you've got Hammond's nephew, arguably the hunter guy doing stupid things.

Who's the bad guy in JP3? Yeah that's right the bloody lame spinosaur. It has no plot other than rargh, bad CGI dinos eat you!!! Wild animals bad! Rargh!

A fair one? If a movie drags too long, it's a negative. The same way it's a complain, that JPIII is way too short (but that's probably for the best giving the content).

Yes, the plot in TLW is ridiculous. I don't need a bad guy to make the film good or bad so what kind of comment is that anyways. And I agree about JPIII.

Anyways, on topic maybe.
