team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

I’m halfway through watching this and I’ll share my comments:

I agree with others about the intro, I’d suggest removing it as it makes easier for us to add tracks to the film. Also as your objective was to make it looks as original as it could, that takes a little away from it. Of course you guys deserve all the credit and we all love you for doing this, not diminishing any of it!

About the missing frames, I would try to add the missing frames from other sources, even GOUT if comes to that. Again, it would help all of us and then this would be a fully complete version.

Looking forward for the original audio!

The light bleeding or whatever it’s called is pretty bad in all scenes where there is direct light. Is it still fixable for the BD at this point?

As others have said, this is a truly awesome effort and I cannot thank you enough for doing this. This is and will be my go to version from now on. Thanks for everything and looking forward for the BD and your other releases.

These are the best i found online. If you got better ones, throw them here, everyone including myself would cheer.

The better ones are the ones with text, those or just ugly and unusable.

Nice constructive criticism.

What kind of constructive criticism are you looking for found images in the Internet?
Google “Star Wars poster” and Larger than 2MP. I can ruin the found images myself, too.

Ranking the Terminator films (or: The Terminator or Judgment Day)
Time

The order is the same as release order. The first two are in my top10 of all time. T3 is kind of fun popcorn flick but it’s not something I pop in anymore. T4 is a boring mess but at least it’s different. T5 is one of the worst movies, at least big franchise movies, of all time. It’s worse than Jurassic Park III or even the Matrix sequels. I’d rather watch Batman & Robin. I hated that movie (there’s also the Terminator thread where I talked about it).

Thanks for this !!! 😄 Really happy it’s finally here.

One question: Aside from the extra audio tracks, will there be any differences between the MKV and the upcoming ISO? Thanks !

Yes, there will be further cleanup, and possibly a minor color correction on a scene or two.

Team Negative1

Are there any ISOs already released, regarding your Q&A above? It says there are 2 ISOs. If not, when will the “finished” ones be available, soon-ish…?

Downloading now the mkv, huge thanks to everyone involved and congratulations for making this happen and to everyone who’s waited for this. 😃

my The Force Awakens style trailer for Harmy's Despecialized Edition
Time

That was great. 😃 I agree about “always”, it was a little short. Maybe too much Han but I loved the parallel to the TFA trailer, that was funny. It could’ve used more effect sounds, Falcon engines etc. still, nice job!

There’s this for TESB which I think is awesome as well, using Harmy footage and TFA style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFA-Oip1wF8

Star Wars at box office
Time

I’ve been checking out how TFA does at the box office and it’ll pass Titanic easily. But do you think it will pass Avatar? At first I thought it could, but it’s still a billion away. If you think it could, would it pass 3 billion? Just some speculation for fun, I’d love to have it take the first place from Avatar. I still can’t believe it made 2 billion outside US. Well, I can’t believe Jurassic World or better yet Furious 7 (probably the worst one in the series) even grossed a billion.

Do you think new SW movies can beat TFA at the box office or was this as good as it gets? Or how do you think the spinoffs compare to e.g. to the PT? Do you think George sees nightmares about gross? Discuss. 😃

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **

Just a random thought:

I’ve seen people here and elsewhere mention Kylo Ren stopping the laser blast mid-air with the force as being different, or a little hard to swallow, or unusual, or whathaveyou. As if it’s some totally new use of the force that has no precedent and came out of left field. Not really outright complaints so much as just something that stood out and is taking some getting used to.

I didn’t like. It just feels “why didn’t Vader use the Force to guide the lasers in the Death Star or in the trench or why didn’t he stop the proton torpedos” etc. TESB scene was cool, and it was already at the end of the second film so we already knew that Vader was powerful. In TFA they showed the scene first so we were supposed to believe Kylo was powerful with the Force, and then at the end he was defeated. Just my 2 cents.

Hell yes. Thank god it was a good movie.

My only question for you at this point is, is there some reason why you’re so unnecessarily hostile? Is it an attempt to be admired by others on the board? An ego thing? Maybe trying to appear witty? Would you treat someone you just met this way? It’s just so strange and unbecoming…I’d really like to understand why people often behave this way online. It’s an interesting phenomenon to me.

All of the above, don’t bother wasting your energy.

If the Death Star had a gravitational pull like a real moon would have had, then logically it should have looked like this;

LOL @ picture. I can just imagine seeing that in the movie.

Anyways, about gravity, I’ve always been aware that they have some kind of gravity control in the floors, not sure where I read it, was it from the cross sections book or where. That’s why there is gravity on ships, like Falcon, star destroyers etc. I don’t think the gravity is at DS’s core, it would make no sense when we see what we see. Also if they were in the floors, you could flip the floors the way you want, so you can have the DS gunners shooting X-Wings etc.

Movies generally considered "bad" that you like.
Time

I like Waterworld, it has great sets and nice post-apocalyptic feel, Dennis Hopper is good etc.

After the Sunset is another, a Brosnan & Hayek film. It has great scenery, many of them include Salma Hayek in bikini, and it’s a fun & simple little film. Not sure why it was “panned”, it is what it is, a fun ride.
