Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

Just watched this again for the second time, and… it’s very rough, especially compared to SW and probably ROTJ which will be next in line. I mean, there are error solely made in “post production”, there are light lines on the top and bottom for one reel, one reel is squished… I hope the sanitized version comes soon. 😃

I would however, not hold my breath for the technicolor project, without getting into detail.

Can’t they just use Person#2 scan and not use unethically obtained Person#3 scan? Or are they trying to cut ties with Person#2 completely?

No offense to anybody involved, but why did Person#2 even get Person#3’s scan?

This rings oddly familiar of moral lesson stated at the end of Disney’s own “Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl”.

“Perhaps on the rare occasion pursuing the right course demands an act of piracy, piracy itself can be the right course?”
-Disney

😛

We don’t know what the act was, so how can we know if it was the right course?

I was not talking about TN1’s act as we don’t know what it is. I was replying to yoda-sama as that is the line from PotC.

Well, some of us have codes of morality that don’t exactly jive with the law.

Exactly. And it’s not like we wouldn’t pay $100 immediately if they would just release the damn films like they were. Guys here have invested thousands of dollars to give the fandom what they want, I’m sure they would be happy too to have saved all that money if you could buy Technicolor BDs from the shelf.

You obviously disagree with the way I’m allowed to run amok with full disregard for anyone but myself and those whose asses I kiss.

If your “point” was valid, I wouldn’t still be here.

That is your opinion on the matter. And again, you surely think high of yourself if you think your precense affects on my precense here. Why don’t you leave and create your own lamejokes.org, not sure why you’re here at OriginalTrilogy.com because it seems that you don’t even care that much about the OT or preserving it (e.g. TN1 releases best HD scan to this point and you’re just crapping their thread to no end without ever even talking about the movie). Speaking of thread titles, not even sure what you are doing in this thread.

Are there members who think something I said doesn’t have a truth in it, then?

Edit: oh, the site was already taken. Too bad.

Yeah, right, good luck with that. He’s a like a turd that won’t flush popping in every thread trying so hard to be funny, kissing the mods’ asses and cyberbullying every single person who doesn’t agree with his points or roll on the floor laughing at his snarky comments, at the same time getting pissed when someone else dares to make a comment that he doesn’t think is funny or making a dissenting opinion to his (unless the person is an admin/a mod, then it’s okay).

I’m pretty sure you are free to start your own (boring and humorless) forum if you don’t like how this one is run.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t say anything about the forum or how it is run as you are not running this even if you’d think you’re some kind of gift to this forum.

Also, thanks for proving my point.

Don’t forget Gremlins 2 takes place on President’s day!

That is a hugely underrated movie IMO, and the speech where they lampoon the Christmas day speech from the first movie always makes me laugh and it seemed to do the same for the cast because they couldn’t get a completely good take out of them while filming that scene, just look at it, near the end both actors are cracking up.

Ugh, I really dislike that movie. 😄 I don’t know the US holidays that well but it seems that President’s Day is a moving date, no? Or is there a certain date mentioned in the film?

The list is getting better. 😃

The Big Red One (1980)
Red Ball Express (1952)
Saving Ryan’s Privates (1998)
Band of Brothers (2001)

War movies are not my cup of tea, what would you say are the best ones? Or if the movie starts like on a previous day, you can also adjust the date to fit in the list.

Time

Sometimes it’s fun to watch movies that happen on a certain date, like Christmas movies in Christmas or Back to the Future on October 25th. How about trying to make a list on movies that are happening on a specific date (doesn’t have to be the whole movie). Of course events like Christmas has hundreds of them so we can’t list them all. Let me know if you have something in mind and I’ll add to the list, can we make it to 366 films? Also if you have other movies with dates already reserved, feel free challenge the list! The goal is to have best movies for every date.

Only “rules” are that the date has to be mentioned or figured out in the movie for certain, not based on a script, novelization, fan fiction etc. If the movie happens on a course of few days, choose the date you’d watch it. We can also adjust the list if there already is a movie on that specific date, then we can choose another day if there is certainty (e.g. E.T.: we don’t know when he lands on Earth, there’s Halloween night in it but we already have the movie Halloween -> E.T. at least has the next day -> let’s put it Nov. 1st).

Ranking the Batman films
Time
  1. Batman - 5 years ago I would have probably said TDK, but Batman is just more rewatchable and fun.
  2. The Dark Knight
  3. Batman Begins
  4. Batman Forever - at least it’s fun and I’m a little nostalgic to this, but it isn’t good by any means
  5. The Dark Knight Rises - this went full Nolan and depressing and is almost an hour too long
  6. Batman Returns - this went full Burton
  7. Batman: The Movie - I guess…?
  8. Batman & Robin - you can watch and “enjoy” this for being so bad and it’s almost better with the commentary, but still this is the lowest point for Batman
