Star Wars at box office

Come on guys, every single topic is about arguing semantics here.

SilverWook said:

Has the original trilogy even ever played in China? Rogue One kind of requires you’ve seen the original film more so than TFA.

IIRC, the OT was shown like a couple of years ago for the first time. I remember seeing some YouTube video where the Chinese thought SW was boring when they interviewed them after seeing it.

You equated them in a relative sense by putting them in the same category. If you can’t handle the fact that I’m an idiot who doesn’t understand English please report me to a moderator so they can ban me for being an idiot who doesn’t understand English, rather than wasting everyone else’s time pointing out my obvious personal shortcomings. Thank you for your time.

Yes, they are in the same category and the category being “disappointed for me to see them above R1’s box office gross”.

Reported.

Hard to believe that there are movies like Transformers sequels and Hobbits above it. Well, not hard, but disappointing.

What?

It is disappointing for me to see examples mentioned films above it. Do you understand English? Jeez, this place has become a place for idiotism where people are just picking fights and being argumentive for argument’s sake.

I’m really hoping for an update from Puggo himself, especially since he said that the final tweaks are supposed to be done by January 2017.

Where? He hasn’t been in this thread since June. I’m almost beginning to think this is not happening. 😦

i find your lack of faith disturbing

Well this project is 5 years old and no one has given an update in over half a year… And I said almost beginning, but I still have hope. It just would be nice to hear what’s happening, even if it’s not happening. I do hope the best for Puggo and this project but if there’s something else, it would be nice to know.

Rogue One didn’t beat TFA in any aspect which is expected but here’s a comparison about their performances: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?id=roguevforce.htm

It seems that it doesn’t gross over 900M worldwide. It has performed very well in the US, though. Hard to believe that there are movies like Transformers sequels and Hobbits above it. Well, not hard, but disappointing.

Who were the guys in the gray and black vests with the fireman helemts??

Jesus dude you have no handle on the direction of this conversation.

I do. I’m just not answering to every single post in this thread. I was replying those posts quoted and if you are not capable of understanding how the texts in them are related, I cannot help you to make it anymore clearer.

I’ll try to explain as clearly and simply as I can: BobaJett was saying that he didn’t think that the soldiers could be wearing Rebel uniforms because if they were it would make Leia’s lie obvious.

Obviously, haven’t said anything but.

My whole point has only ever been that there are a number of reasons why that would be obvious, uniform or not. So basically, in regards to the question “are the gray and black vests” Rebel uniforms, my answer is that there’s no way to know for sure, because the outcome is the same either way.

Obviously, and that’s exactly what I said in my previous post. Read again.

Oh and btw, Leia says “When they hear you’ve attacked a diplomatic…” -> it is pretty clear the Empire attacked if you still think that Tantive IV shot first (maybe they can make a Special Edition about that) or that there would be a chance to welcome them aboard. But that’s besides the point. Anyways, I won’t be wasting more time with this.

The whole point of the discussion was “why would Leia lie through her teeth if the soldiers were wearing Rebel uniforms” to which the point I was making (which sorry if you weren’t paying any attention) was that there were a million reasons why she was obviously lying through her teeth besides the soldiers wearing rebel uniforms. So I really don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.

The topic is “Who were the guys in the gray and black vests with the fireman helemts??” not “why would Leia lie through her teeth if the soldiers were wearing Rebel uniforms”. I have not been talking about Leia at all, so not sure why you still continue to reply about that. Maybe some quotes will help you to understand.

There’s no reason an Imperial consular ship housing an Imperial senator would have its troops start shooting at boarding Imperials unless they were willing to out themselves as rebels. I doubt the stormtroopers would have started shooting everyone if they were greeted by a welcome party.

LexX said:

If you don’t remember, the movie starts with Star Destroyer chasing and shooting Tantive IV and then captures it, so I’m sure anyone who is inside isn’t waiting for a welcome party at the door, were they rebels or not.

Hey, if you think that the stormtroopers should be greeted and then they wouldn’t have started shooting after they exploded their door, then okay…

You would too if you knew that they would kill you if they caught you. Lets not forget that the Empire knows that the plans are on board. There’s no way the crew would get away peacefully even if they handed the plans to Vader’s own hands.

And then your post:

DominicCobb said:

No shit again but you’re clearing missing the point, which is that Leia was lying through her teeth.

WTF, none of these posts were about that.

Like I said, shooting stormtroopers doesn’t make you part of the Rebel Alliance, that’s called self defense considering everything happening in the film. But, like I said, to me they seem and are rebels. But since you’re so adamant about Leia’s words then fine, I’ll respond to that. Your argument is invalid since the plans were on board so there would be no situation that they would be chased AND Leia wasn’t lying about their mission. The Empire came for the plans and Leia lied or the Empire wouldn’t have come at all. And because they had the plans, they disabled Tantive IV and blew their door open, it wouldn’t matter what clothes they were wearing, rebel uniforms or not. But honestly, I don’t even think the Empire knows what kind of uniforms the rebels have at that point. The rebels don’t have their logo in anything but their pilot helmets, I’d say they just wear standard clothing because you never know when you run into Imperials. But who knows…

They were running away.

No shit.

And it’s not hard to imagine the Tantive shooting first.

What would be the point to start shooting a Star Destroyer that is like a hundred times bigger than their ship, especially when the last thing they would want is more attention to themselves.

The Imperials had no reason to destroy the Tantive when their plan was to board it.

No shit. And that’s probably the reason the Star Destroyer started shooting Tantive IV to disable it and not the other way around. And they did.

Leia was lying through her teeth.

No shit, I haven’t said anything about Leia. I was responding to imperialscum’s post which also didn’t concern Leia, so don’t know what the fuck are you talking about. I was making a point that even if they would allow “the coast guard to check their boat”, this coast guard would still not let them leave even if the Tantive IV crew didn’t shoot anybody, because a) the Empire knew the plans were on board and b) Vader wanted to interrogate Leia about their base.

There’s no reason an Imperial consular ship housing an Imperial senator would have its troops start shooting at boarding Imperials unless they were willing to out themselves as rebels.

Stormtroopers shot first after they blew their door. I’d say many people would shoot guys who shoot you first in a galaxy, wheather you’re a rebel or not. I don’t disagree here, but the matters aren’t that black and white. If the Empire disabled let’s say the Falcon and blew it’s door open and Han started shooting stormtroopers, that doesn’t make him a member of the Alliance yet.

I doubt the stormtroopers would have started shooting everyone if they were greeted by a welcome party.

Too late for that after the space battle, don’t you think.

To the original question, to my knowledge, the Tantive IV crew has always been referred to rebel fleet troopers and I also have thought that they were rebels. Of course, no one would want to admit that to the Imperials if you were a rebel but that goes without saying.

I don’t know where you all live, but in my country, it has become a trend to say that the prequels weren’t so bad after all, especially since The Force Awakens was released and was not really well received, at least among my age group.
So now it doesn’t surprise me when people rank the PT higher than the OT (but it kind of pisses me off).

I don’t even want to know where you live, LOL.

Has anyone here played the game Rebellion (known as Supremacy in the UK)?
I’ve been playing it for the last couple of days and it’s basically the EU as a game.

I played it when I was teenager. It is a really interesting game but I never won once. Probably would have played more if it wasn’t that hard… I’ve played Civilizations and Galactic Battlegrounds and back then enjoyed the strategic games but Rebellion was something else.

Honestly, I’d just give up on the whole project. It’s hopeless without such a key player.

Would you dial back the negative waves? They finished principal photography on Episode 8 you know.

Good! But they’ll have to cancel Episode 9.

They have to? Damn, dude, get a grip. You’re not the only one to be upset about this. Carrie would have not wanted that her fans and SW fans in general to be denied more movies just because of her. She knows the films are important to many and she would never deny making them because of her. We all wish she could be in the future films but that’s not the case now so deal with it. Same goes to Mark, they both have big hearts and they both would want the series to continue with or without them.

Anyways, I don’t know anything about VIII and hopefully this thread won’t get any spoilers, but I could imagine they have hard decisions to make plot-wise.

I can’t name my favorite moments but she does have the best lines in SW. She gets rescued and then immediately takes charge.

I watched on YouTube when she was at CE II last summer and interviewed by Warwick Davis. She was asked lines from Star Wars and she had to know them. One was “There’s always a bigger fish.” and she was like “What, was that in Star Wars??”.
Then she and Warwick acted out her rescuing scene her lying on a couch and Warwick had a Stormtrooper helmet on. Warwick came to the rescue and waiting for her to say “Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper” but instead she said “There’s always a bigger fish.” I laughed my ass off and Warwick probably did too inside his helmet.

She was always the most humorous. Any link to that video?

Okay I remembered it wrong, they asked the fans and not her. Anyways: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sEOSWMf8oE&t=30m40s
