I’m glad some people seem to enjoy it, but I felt nothing.

While it was a more fun flick, I didn’t mean I enjoyed it as “a film”. I just thought it was miles better than the previous Superman films, which isn’t hard. But it’s not even close to WW. I think my post made it look like an actual good movie which it isn’t. Just saying that at least and at last there was something positive that you could sit it through and enjoy your time somewhat. Sure, it didn’t make me feel anything and I don’t even remember much of it even though I only saw it last week, but still.

If I’d give a 1-10 rating:
WW 8.5
JL 3.5
BvS 1
MoS 0

What did people think about JL? I thought it was a much better film than MoS or BvS and it was great to see actual colors and people smiling in these films. Sure, the plot was ice-thin and the villain was horrendous but it was a fun time and not too long, either. I really enjoyed the cast, except for Cyborg who just was there. Not a great film but a positive surprise since I absolutely hate MoS and while BvS had its couple of moments it’s overly long, boring and annoying.

I’d legitimately like to understand what “busy being poor” means and how that precludes someone from learning other languages.

Go and ask a 19-year-old who has worked for food for over 10 years by scavenging junk and other crap in a town of less than 1000 people here on Earth and get ready to be surprised that they don’t know how to turn even a computer on let alone read or write or speak perfect grammar of their own language.

People complain that Rey can understand BB-8’s beeps and whistles, but completely ignore the fact that Han can understand the treadwell droid’s beeps and whistles in the hangar on Hoth while working on the Falcon.

Han had travelled throughout the galaxy and was like 15 years older at that point, Rey had been busy being poor while counting days on Jakku.

At some point (especially in the hanger right before they escaped), sure. But I seriously doubt it [troops missing on purpose as to track them to the rebel base] was happening from the second they landed on the Death Star. That strains credibility by quite a bit.

No, not right away. But as soon as they bust the Princess out, I’d say the plan was made and orders given. The only scuffle before that is when Luke n’ Han are dressed as troops and take em by surprise.
Maybe I’m wrong and they are supposed to be terrible with aim and the whole thing is supposed to be silly, that’s just not how I see it.

First thing Vader says after they board the Death Star is “They must be trying to return the stolen plans to the princess. She may yet be of some use to us.” After they’ve freed her, I agree that they are letting them go. It is maybe not supposed to make you think about it when watching it as a movie, but if the main two guys in charge on the station have made a plan and installed a tracking device to lead them to rebel base to destroy the whole rebellion, it would be the most stupid thing to have some bumbling troops to ruin the whole plan.

In what way I should watch a Star Wars Marathon?
Time

Time to bump the marathon thread!

I’m now in the middle of ROTJ, started with R1, and… This was going to be a lead up to TLJ but honestly, I don’t feel like watching TFA at all. I don’t think I’ve seen it in a year anyways. I’m a little saddened by it but there’s more cringe-y moments than good stuff for me to pick it up.

Speaking of R1, the first hour is completely useless and that feeling only gets stronger by every viewing for me. I’m probably gonna hold back with this one too on later viewings…

There’s no reason to believe every anthology film will be a solo character spin-off. We’ve only had one anthology film so far and it wasn’t that.

Yes.
My dream spin-off would take place in the SW galaxy, but feature no characters we already know and have nothing to do with the Rebels vs. Empire/Jedi vs Badguys ect.
Clerks set on Dantooine.

Dantooine is too remote to make an effective Spinoff Trilogy.

LOL

As time goes on and the novelty wears off, Rogue One is starting to slip a little for me. For whatever reason, it’s the (non-PT) film I find myself popping in the least frequently.

Huh, it’s been on BD for only 6 months? I haven’t popped any film more than once in that time.

But I do agree, it isn’t as rewatchable as the OT but I do still like it more than TFA. Some movies you like but they aren’t very rewatchable.
