New ROTS Trailer
Time
Fortunately it aired right after the episode of the OC ended, I forget where I read this, but I didnt watch the show. THANKFULLY I did catch the trailer, which IMO is freaking amazing. I dont know if I want to go as far as saying that the PT might see some redemtion, but it might...haha.

Things looked really smooth, and the lightsaber battles look AMAZING. Plus Chewbacca man!

Vader shilling for Target (advert)
Time
the ESPN add owns the Target add by a margin. Honestly, I was laughing so hard at the ESPN commercial, just because its so original.

I think the ESPN commercial even one ups the Energizer commercial from the 90's. Is that when it originally aired?

EDIT: I was looking at the SW.com link for the ESPN commercial and it said that there will be more in the future. Thats great, I just hope I get to see them all.

TENG is hands down one of the funniest movies ever, animated or live action.

There is a drive in theatre down the street from me, but its all broken down and old. Nonetheless, its still fun to go see certain movies there when they come out. (I saw Freddie v Jason, and a few others recently, but nothing notable).

I might be tempted to see Ep 3 at one when it comes out, after ive seen it in a legit theatre first.

Agreed Bossk. I had a Stormtrooper wake up call that my girlfriend had done, I hadnt seen the commercials or anything. It was really pretty neat, but I would have traded it for waking up in Denmark.

General DVD Talk
Time
Hey Luke, I dont know if you saw it or not but the SE of Ed Wood is available (at least it is on amazon). I had almost forgotten about it until today, but apparently its been available since late Oct. right along with the SE of Born on the 4th.
Both of those just were added to my wish list. Hopefully when I go back to work full time for the Christmas/New Year's break I will save enough money to be able to get back to increasing my DVD collection.

Lately ive had to ration my purchases, Ive been getting like one or two a month. But since its Christmas season I think personal spending will be slowing down. At any rate, just thought id let you know if you hadnt already seen it.

Now Im REALLY looking forward to Garden State and the eventual I <3 Huckabees.

But honestly, all my movie anticipation right now is not focused on DVD, but rather, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou!!!

How about the Steelers barely scraping a W out in the Jungle. I would have been speachless had the Bengals beaten the Steelers. Im really not trying to underappreciate their defense - but I think they were undoubtedly the underdog.
Look for the Seahawks to make a break now, I think they may be the WildCard team that makes it deep into the playoffs.

Bears and Colts win on Turkey Day.

NBA
Time
Agreed. I think that the players are expected to deal with a lot, so not all of the blame should be on them. However, they do have to pay for their decisions - if it was Artest's first offense it would seem TOTALLY too harsh to suspend him for the season - but he has a track record. IMO, the suspensions make a lot of sense and seem fair (lenght-wise) but Im sure they will be appealed.
I think the fans who turned into freaking animals should be put in jail and fined, and possibly even banned from NBA games. If you are dumb enough to go down on the court and try and throw a punch at one of these NBA guys (6-7 240) HAHA, you deserve to get laid out.

Its like saying you should put a lion to sleep because it killed a person at the Zoo. But I didnt mention that the clown climbed into the Lions exhibit and was baiting it (sometimes truth is stranger than fiction).

Anime talk
Time
To begin, Cowboy Bebop is amzing.

Now, Ric - pertaining to EVA, I like some elements of the directors cuts, but its doesnt seem quite like SW to me. I still have my full set of DVDs of the original broadcasts, and they are still available en masse. Personally, I like End of EVA, and Death/Rebirth better than the tv series ending episodes. I guess thats just me. The episodes fit in with the pyschological undertones present throughout the series, but you have to love Asuka mincing the SEELE baddies.
At any rate, ive been an NGE fan since the series originally was available in the states, circa 97-98. The only Anime exposure I had before that was Dragonball on Italian tv (I lived there from 94-97) and of course the seminal Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Ninja Scroll.

I think this thread is a great idea, hopefully we can keep it going.

On the topic of updates (in a sense) I saw Ghost in the Shell 2 recently, while it was still in theatres. I was very impressed. Im glad to see that the stateside version maintained the overtly philosophical nature of the film, and didnt needlessly beef up the action.

Other Anime ive seen in theatres: Mononoke Hime, Spiritied Away, and X. Two of three are Miyazaki - that man is a genius and one of the best anime directors/writers/animators around.

I know thats a lot of stuff, I guess this is a very broad response. Thanks for the thread Ric.

I did in fact see the "Where you at Moss?" message...I think its funny however, because had Moss played the game may have ended a little differently. I think he is simply, THAT good.

P.S. Anyone as amazed as me at how close I was to guessing McNabb's stats. Haha, I was off by 5 yards and 1 TO TD!!

Metroid PRIME Two...
Time
I wasnt implying that Syphon Filter was a good game - rather that it had little to no emphasis on stealth. Certainly, Serious Sam is a better example, but i think that you might acknowledge MGS and SF are in the same genre (at least SF attempted to be).

At any rate, MP2 looks amazing, even without the tv add I saw the other day. Which isnt to say that I didnt like the add, but simply, Id be buying the game without having ever seen the add.

Important news for vegans and women!!!
Time
Just as a note, most Vegans dont subscribe the not eating fruit unless its fallen thing. There is a whole seperate dietary movement revolving around that, i forget the name. Generally I think Vegans just dont eat anything that is derived from an animal - including honey as it exploits bees (apparently) and milk derivitives extracted by science - casein and lactose. I think that fanatical Vegans are sort of missing the mark...ethically, I dont think its irresponsible to eat honey...I just dont.

P.S. The vegan may still get protein from vegetable sources - soy, nuts, etc.

mtv is one of the most rediculous things in the media (currently). It honestly has no constructive purpose, but on that note - neither does most tv in general.
The only thing Ill give to mtv is that they support the rock the vote program. But honestly, they dont even do that very convincingly.

Long live public television, the Discovery channel, and the History channel.

Philly will go in with their guard down and fall behind early, its up to them to get it back together at the half. We'll see.

I think the Eagles win, but not by much. Perhaps ill be wrong, Mcnabb (sp) throws for 350 with 4 TDs, two to T.O. Haha, great!

time will tell. that Vikings game was an interesting one, but I dont think you can ever count out the Pack, especially not in Favre is throwing well.

Considering our President and his administration will not acknowledge that global warming exists, or is an issue whatsoever, I think we need to apologize - not only to the rest of the world, but how about we write letters to our kids, and their kids, saying sorry for fucking the earth up, good luck with it.

Or perhaps we should just wish them luck getting off this rock before it destroys the human race.

Halo 2
Time
I really loved Halo on X-box, but I didnt appreciate it enough until I played it on PC. I have to admit it was all about the controls for me. The X-box controller feels like a loaf of bread with buttons and joysticks on it!
But, Im biased, I had been playing CS and MoH for a long time before I ever played Halo - so perhaps it was simply because I was used to it. However, ive been playing Halo 2 with my friends for a day now, and man...its great. I dont think it wins out over CS:Source for my dollars, but its damn good, and it will be rounding out my Christmas treasure.

P.S. Metroid Prime 2 is a no brainer for me, I just have to wait until i get my next check. Im definitely a GC fanboy, the next 6 months are looking amazing for us (GC owners)!!

I think ive kind of lost faith in the NFL this season. I really wanted TO to get another 100 yard game, but he got shut down.

Oh well, my Mom is a Steelers fan, so I dont mind them winning. I think they might be able to beat pretty much anyone at this point. Even if the Eagles hadnt come into the game thinking they would walk away with it, they still might have lost.
