Attack of the Clones 35mm - on eBay, bought - and now project thread (a WIP)

I got over the damn prequel poisoning, but then moved house to another city (which was a big move) and had some family crises that put everything else on hold for a while. I’ve only just started setting up my workstations etc again, and hope to have more time available for this in the coming months.

Clones is awaiting scanning, there are a few other movies in the queue, and I’ll need to get HDDs to store the scan (around 20TB for a scan of Clones), but it is on the list, and if there is interest here, it will get done.

Glad to hear you’re doing better!! The interest is certainly strong here, but your family and health comes first. 😃

Sadly we are going to have to find another print. The one I have has turned out to be toxic, and damn near killed me. We are yet to ascertain what the substance is on the print, but it is very bad news.

The print is also pretty bad shape.

Here is a sample.

I’m really sorry about this, I got completely screwed by the seller, I am on the lookout for a replacement.

YIKES. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Best of luck finding a clean print!

If you just scan at 1080p/2K, there’s a nonzero chance the pixels printed to the film won’t line up with the pixels being scanned, so you’ll lose information. 4K guarantees you’ll pick up every digital pixel that’s on the print.

In addition to preserving the look and texture of a film print, there are some changes made from this Film Theatrical Cut to the Digital Theatrical/ DVD release.

Per Wookiepedia:
"Most of these changes did not appear in the main theatrical release, but made it into a version shown in select digital theaters.

Several speeders were removed from a shot during the Bounty Hunter pursuit scene.

New dialogue added to the scene where Anakin confesses to the Tusken slaughter to Padmé.

Additional sparks and smoke have been added to Jango Fett’s jetpack shortly before his death to better present its malfunction.

After falling out of the gunship on Geonosis, a clone trooper asks if Padmé is all right. Her response of “yes” has been changed to a more realistic groggy “Uh-huh.”

During their duel on Kamino a shot of Jango Fett headbutting Obi-Wan is removed from the UK version of the film and DVD.

Anakin’s mechanical hand now holds Padmé’s hand during the closing wedding sequence (this was originally included in the DLP theater release of the film)."

Aladdin 35mm (Released)

I hate to say it but it’s been nearly a year and I still can’t get a copy of this release. I saw Aladdin at Greater Union cinemas in Civic, Canberra when it was released and fell in love with it. To this day I have the original poster up in my computer room along with a collection of Aladdin toys, characters etc. The ‘release’ ins’t accessible so be sure to reply with ideas other than Blutopia. 😃

Same, I’ve been able to get a myspleen account but not Bluetopia.

Congrats! Lucky for you the competition was light.

Now if only a good print of ROTS would show up. 😃

I’d love to see a film print of ROTS too, but I think from a Theatrical Preservation standpoint, Schorman’s reconstruction with Jetrell Fo’s Theatrical DTS track just about covers it, since AFAIK the only noticeable changes are undoing the re-rendering of Kashyyyk by using an HDTV recording, the wipe that was reinstated to the Blu Ray, and the extra Clone voices the Blu Ray added but the Theatrical tracks fix.

Just covered the shipping cost! Not sure how much is left in order to bid. Did anyone else bid the last time this was listed?

Thank you!

No problem! would love to get preview videos when this thing gets scanned! I too am trying to have at least an accurate Theatrical copy of each film. How far are we on our goal?
