Well, I ended up seeing part of it by accident (I was trying to find the TZ movie) and from what I saw, it really isn't gruesome at all. All you really see are some shapes and the chopper fall. The creepy thing is pretty much just having the knowledge that you're watching three people die.

EDIT: Oh, and yeah, definately not going on the DVD, heh.

Also, as an update, unless I'm mistaken, geekroick is sending me a copy of his source my way so I can pretty it up with menus and release it.

Distribution Idea:
People with DL burners can volunteer as burners for one of the movies, and hopefully we could get 2 or more people per movie. Then anyone who wanted a copy could either:
A) Get one sent from the burners in exchange for them becoming a burner for that movie
B) Send the burner a blank DL DVD with return postage, address, and such

Well, the LD transfer is on hold for now since someone already bought the LD on eBay...

But, geekroick, that could be better than any LD, since if it's from a digital satellite, it should be the same raw resolution (unless I'm wrong) as an LD. So if you still have the transfer handy, or better yet, the raw files, I'd be very interested in whipping up a DVD with menus, disc art, a cover and such.

But then I was confused when I noticed that you already posted a few. And for those, thank you VERY much.

Still downloading them, so I'm not sure if they'll do it...

EDIT: GOT IT!

Those last ones did it, I can PAR the thing into working as of now. MANY thanks for the help, and for actually creating the DVD!

Well, the movie itself is infamous since Vic Morrow died during the filming of it, though I don't know if that would have anything to do with it...

I'm currently awaiting a response from someone who said he has a widescreen capture from a broadcast that is a higher resolution source than an LD, so we'll see about that... In the meantime, I'll probably buy that LD tomorrow if I can get someone who'd be willing to transfer it...

A few points...

1. Was the Anakin VS Obi-Wan duel actually sped up? From what I could tell, they were just really trying to be the crap out of each other... I guess maybe since I do the whole sword-fighting thing I can naturally tell what's going on...

2. For keeping the whole Vader = Anakin thing and the twins a surprise for Ep V and VI, I suggest:
Stopping the Mustafar shot after Obi-Wan picks up the saber and leaves.
Have a new voiceover for the medical droid and have it say something like, "She's suffered too much damage to her throat to keep going on. We have to operate now to save the babies." I figure maybe some VERY brief indication that Padme has more than one kid might be nice as a little teaser...
Then basically cut off the bit with Bail talking about taking the girl, and when showing shots of Alderaan, make it appear he's returning home to his wife and child.

3. I find it amusing that the two most memorably bad lines in the movie are...

"YES!" -Palpatine
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" -Vader
