Looking for some Star Wars "Promo Photos" please...
Time
Wow, thanks a huge! There's a lot of great stuff in that.
But it seems that there are many wallpapers and collage/montage photos. It's because of that I was asking, cause I always find this kind of material when using the "large pictures" google images. Even if those pictures are great, what I'm looking for is very precise: promo pics which have been done for every movie (even ANH), very simple photos of characters with unique color backgrounds (it's often grey).

Thanks anyway for your great findings!

What is the Star Wars Swag disc?
I also have some promo photos for TPM, AOTC, and OT, but not a lot.

In fact, I'd like to build some sort of "Visual Reference Database" for SW characters, aliens, creatures, starships, vehicles... I'm currently collecting many pictures, but the best I've found are those promo photos, they're just great!
BTW, what is the common name for those "promo photos", cause I don't find many pictures when searching for this expression in Google?

Someone knows a website with those photos? It would be the best solution for me.

I finally finished downloading this off of MySpleen.
I just wanted to say great job putting it together!!! Thanks for doing this!!
It's cool seeing all of the cut scenes together as a kind of "movie".
All Star Wars video games should be treated to a dvd like this!! Awesome stuff!!
And the menus and artwork rock too!!!

Anyway, great job, and I'm looking forward to more releases from you!

Thanks!

Hi there!

So, I’ve seen a lot of “promo photos” (I don’t know the common name for that) of ROTS all over the web, but I’m actually looking for the same kind of photos (in hi-res if possible) for TPM, AOTC, and the whole OT.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about:

Character with a unique color background…

http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/9716/obi7mh.jpg
…or with a “set” background.

So, anyone has an idea of where I could get such photos?
Thanks in advance!

Well, I've read the posts and it has sense. In fact, it's very similar to piracy for music artists who are still unknown. It's a good way to distribute quality stuff, even if it musn't be encouraged, cause in this case, some people are making money with no original stuff (it wouldn't bother me at all if it was the case), but copyrighted material. That makes a big difference IMO.
But yes, it's a good way for fans who don't know this site to have a copy of Holiday Special, or any other interesting, and not officially released, SW material. I understand the point.

I wasn't too fond of the comentaries, except from Kershner, since he was so into it. But they are better than the ones on the prequels. I don't think they were necessarily recorded before the new changes. These changes weren't highly publicized like the ones in '97. The box tries to pass them off as the original trilogy, and I don't believe there was ever an official statement saying there were any changes. I think this whole operation was very covert, so it makes sense to me that they wouldn't address it on the commentary, just to make the uninformed to blindly follow him, and to piss off people like me.

Ok, but the ESB Emperor scene! Everyone has noticed that, even the non hard fans. Watching this scene with the commentary without any allusion to it is a pretty weird feeling, I find...

And I'm not even talking about the "Hayden ghost" scene...

My letter to Entertainment Weekly, what do you guys think?

Maybe that is asking too much.

Yeah, it would be awesome to see that line on a magazine cover! I think it could really change things, maybe not GL decision but I really think that many more fans would join us on that!

You know what? I'm dreaming with you, pal. (no sexual allusion here!)

Is it true?
just a joke...

Now all those fans respect George Lucas has a right to change the movies, cause they are his and no one elses,...

That is not true. A quick view on those threads suffices to know that IMO...

Anyway, it's a really good letter! It would be awesome if it could change GL's opinion! I vote for it, good job!

Inserting deleted scene of Yoda's exile into ANH??

I'm sorry, but it's a bad idea. This way, Yoda is no longer a surprise Jedi Master in ESB (although watching the prequels first would spoil this anyway).

Um... that's the idea. They would already know Yoda anyway, so there's no harm in having Yoda in ANH.

Well, I'm not sure about that. If I have to give an advice to Star Wars newbies is to watch the OT first, and then the PT (if they want to see the whole saga, of course!). I really think it works real best that way. The PT and the OT show us very different eras of the SW universe, there's no harm to watch it unchronologicaly, and of course, the many surprises of the OT would be not ruined...

Unless my eyes deceive me, he already is, at least peripherally. In one of the Tatooine scenes there's a shot of a ship under construction that looks an awful lot like Slave I. Timeline-wise, it makes sense. He's got a Fat Wad o' Cash after selling his DNA to some fella named Tyrannus, and decides it's the right time to spring for that fancy new custom ship that a bad-ass bounty hunter like himself deserves.

There's an interesting detail about the Slave I in the "Bounty Hunter" game, which takes place during TPM.
At the begining of the game we (=Jango) have a different ship, which belongs to the old "mentor" of Jango. And during a mission, we're blocked, and forced to find another ship, in a really small and secret facility. At the end of that level, Jango steals one of the few experimental ships of the facility (the Slave I, of course), and before he leaves, he just destroys the facility...
Well, it's just the little story... for those who are interested...

The weird thing in those 2004 DVD commentaries is that it has no mentions to the new stuff and changes that have been done for this edition. It seems that they have recorded the commentaries BEFORE doing the DVD changes. I think it was too bad, just cause I was waiting for some explanations about that.
The only mention is from Ben Burtt, concerning the Naboo shot in the ROTJ celebration, but it's all...

Concerning the commentaries themselves, I must say that I love ESB one, especially for Kershner. He's very interesting, verry funny, and give us some good anecdotes on the filming of the movie.
Lucas talk only about the story, but it's really interesting too.

So, just for the commentaries, you MUST borrow them to a friend. The best "special feature" for the OT at this time, IMO.
