Darth Maul is exactly that, but what's the problem? I mean, I think it was the all point of this character, to just show a small part of the incoming "menace".

And more than that, everyone here (including me) yell about the lack of mystery due to the "deconstruction" of many charaters, revealing too much infos of their backstories, in the PT. Darth Maul is one of the few characters who are still mysterious. I think it's a good point.

I don't agree on that. I think that those scenes were pretty much useless, and were not made in "Star Wars style". I mean that the 1st time I saw thoses scenes on the DVD, I was glad that they were deleted, cause they sounds too much "american family comedy" than SW IMO.

Even if I love that scene, I think it was better not to see it in the movie, cause the end of the movie is concentrated on the fate of the skywalker family, and there's already too much infos in this part to add this one IMO.

Hey, I really prefer this list!

1. You sat through all 3 in the cinema
>> Yeah, of course! Those films have been made for theatres! What could be the pleasure to watch them in DivX?!?

2. You own them all on DVD
>> Yeah, of course (again)!

3. You think they help the Saga
>> Not really... The PT give us cool infos (and some not so cool...), but questions with no answers are often more interesting than answers, I think.

4. You keep the Lucas versions as the real thing and not fan edits
>> Yep. Even if I don't like all he has done, I've always though that this was HIS vision, Star Wars is HIS creation.

5. You dont mind Jar Jar
>> You know, before seeing PTM, I was really worried about this character, but finally, I don't mind him. But I must say that I find him just useless...

6. You think it was cool to see how 3P0 evolved
>> Not really... In a way, I was glad to see familiar characters, but I would have prefered not seeing him (and R2) in the PT, the fact that they have been part of ALL the saga is not really realistic IMO. But concerning the evolution of 3PO, yeah that was cool and really well done.

7. You would defend Hyden in the same way you would ark
>> No opinion on that. I don't really like him, but I don't really hate him...

8. You realise Plot holes exisit only becuase they enable other things in happen as Lucas wanted
>> Yep.

9. You would pick the PT over the HS
>> Hell, yeah!

10. You have a ton of PT stuff
>> Not really. I don't collect SW stuff anyway, only reference books and videogames.

11. You think Darth Maul is kick ass
>> Hell, yeah! Really cool character!

12. You dont mind seeing Famous people in Star wars, seeing as they do a good job at acting
>> Correct. Ewan is the best exemple.

13. You watched the Clone Wars Cartoon
>> Yes (and I don't have Cartoon Network either olzen, the episodes were available on starwars.com and now exist in DVDs...). The series is pretty damn good! One of the best animated series I've seen.

14. You are looking forward to seeing the TV show
>> Oh yes! I'm really wondering how it will look like.

15. You hope there will be no PT:SE
>> Replacing TPM puppet Yoda (really too different of the OT puppet AND the CGI version) with the CGI version would not bother me...

Help Wanted: SW videogames cutscenes (esp. Rogue Squadron series)
Time
Just to let you know that mandalore has done a new SW game capture. This time, it's "Bounty Hunter", and it's right there.

As some of you might know, I'm actually making a "Bounty Hunter" DVD, and after talked to Mandalore, he's agree to work with me on this project. We'll try to make a great DVD, with not only the pre-rendered cutscenes (that I already have in high quality, thanks to Galactus), but with real-time cutscenes and important moments regarding the story of in-game parts. The result will be a fully understandable movie!

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
Thanks for this great painting, eros!

Concerning the resolution of a cover, I personaly like to make them in 300dpi, but you know, on a personal inkjet printer, the differences between 150 and 300dpi are very very small... A friend of mine is a professional graphist, and he makes 300dpi documents only for a professional printing (I mean for big printers of printing companies), when he makes personal documents that will be printed on a personal printer, he makes them in 150dpi, and rarely in 300dpi.
Thanks anyway for those covers, Ell!

5-25-77 Documentary
Time
I've heard of that yesterday, on TFN, and it looks like interesting. You know, I'm too young for have seen Star Wars in '77, and I'd really like to see what was the atmosphere at this time, in US. I know, it's not a documentary, but I guess that this will reflect some really good aspects of that time.
So, I'd really like to watch this film.

Star Wars Battlefront II
Time
Originally posted by: Ingo Sucks
Normally I just ignore Star Wars games, because there's so many of them. But this one actually appealed to me. 1) Because it's a shooter, like DOOM, and 2) it's the first game ever to cover all six movies.

I rented the game for PS2 this week, and I see that it plays a lot like Halo, which I've got for the PC. Using the Jedi is an awesome tactic, and I'm glad to see Capture-the-Flag in there.

But here's the problem: I can't get used to the controls! I always play shooter games on the PC, because I'm so used to the keyboard and mouse (which is why I got Halo for the PC, because I couldn't stand the XBOX controls for that game). I see on my PS2 that there's two USB ports. If I could get a USB keyboard and mouse plugged in and to work with Battlefront, I'll be able to ace that game.

I have no choice but to get this game for the PS2, because my sucky computer doesn't have Transform&Lighting, which the PC version requires. So do you know if I can get a USB keyboard and mouse to work with the PS2 game?

I don't have the game (yet!), but first you must look if the game accepts Keyboard and Mouse control (on the back cover). I'm really not sure about this... cause you know, the PS2 has really under-used the USB control capacity, a large majority of FPS don't accept Keyboard and Mouse, and it's really too bad!
And for the games that can be played with keyboard & mouse, you can plug in your PS2 pretty much all the USB keyboards and mouses, you don't have to buy a "PS2" keyboard or mouse.

Favorite old-school star wars game?
Time
My favourite Star Wars game is definitly Dark Forces! I really love this game.
It's just that it was, for me, the first SW game in which I really feel to be IN the SW universe. The story was really good, the main character was absolutely cool,... and it was one of the first "intelligent" Doom-like at that time. I mean, the goal of each mission was not to find the blue key to open the blue door, find the green key to open the green door, then find the red key to open the red door... as it was in many FPS of these years.

I have really loved to play Rebel Assault II too. It was not a good game (I mean, there are too many different sorts of games in it, and the controls were really bad for some missions), but it was a great SW interactive movie, and a good experience for a fan.

A plot to destroy Supershadow

Well, I think a petition will be useless. In fact, I really think that this guy would have to go see a psychiatrist, cause his sickness has a name: mythomania, and maybe schizophrenia, due to the amount of time he wastes in it, since many years...

And on other side, he has right to do that. I surely desapprove that behavior, but, well, there's nothing illegal in it.
That reminds me a false blog of our president, in France, that has become very famous, and was verry funny. But that was just humour, and the "fake" aspect was not hidden...

So, I really dislike this guy for what he's doing, but he has right to do it. That's all.

PS: I was just thinking: he surely must spend many more time on Star Wars than the "nerds" who he's laughing of, no? Pretty lame...

Star Wars inspired names for rock, pop & other bands
Time
The Star Wars bands have already cool names, like "Max Rebo's Band" (pretty cool, isn't it?) or "Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes"

Anyway, what about:
- Death Star's Officers
- The Massassis
- The Fuzzballs
- The Scoundrels
- Polis Massa
- The Tusken Raiders
- The Mad Wookiees
...

For the info, in France, we have some bands with SW inspired names: "Luke" and "The Wampas"

DVD-menus... the Van Ling way!
Time
Thanks a huge for those links!
I really love the SW DVD menus, as well of the other Ling menus! T2 menu is really awesome, just the fact to see places we don't see in the movie.

I'm an Hyperspace member and have seen the "DVD Deconstruct" videos. The Ep3 videos seem to be the sames (at least it's from the same source material), I'll see when the download will be complete, cause those videos are really weighter than the HS ones. Maybe there is more material in it?

Good finding! Thanks again.

Expanded Universe NO RETCON
Time
I agree with you adam, guides and reference books have always been a good way to repair, or just precise, contradictions in the SW universe.

And I'd just want to say that there were already many mistakes and contradictions in the EU before the PT...
For example: I don't remember in which book is it, but at a moment, it's said that Obi-Wan and Owen Lars are brothers (!?)...
All that is pretty much normal, SW is a huge universe, and many different author have worked on it. But it's clear that the PT has gave many confusions. Some times, it's like Lucas has never wrote his stories thinking of the EU. Fortunately, there are some people at Lucasfilm Licensing who do their best to "fix" mistakes...

But one of the biggest contradiction has been made recently. It's about the outer rim mission of Obi-Wan and Anakin. We all know where they have been in Clone Wars series, but it seems that a book, wrote before, tells another story... pretty weird for a such important event...

Clone Wars (2003 animated series by Genndy Tartakovsky) - a general discussion thread

How can you say that?
I must tell that the first time I've seen a picture of Clone Wars (not an animated sample) I was shocked and very disappointed. At this time, I've had imagined a reallistic design, and instead, I see some kind of weird characters. But when I've seen the first 10 seconds of the 1st chapter, I was... WOW! It's really cool! Great animation! And I've even loved the design... That could seems pretty weird to have changed my mind on that, and I can't explain how. After all, I've had the same reactions about the Simpsons, many years ago. First: "What a weird design! The characters are awfull!"... then: "I love it! And the design is genius!".

All that to say that all you've mentioned can be though before seeing it, but after? I don't get it...
I think you've missed the important fact about Clone Wars: it's a caricature! All in it is exagerated. The jedi can do some things that can never be showned in a movie (Mace Windu against a whole army of Super Battle Droids, Yoda pushing back Trade Fed barges,...). You have to see it as a caricature, but it's serious (I mean it's not a parody).

It's too bad you're seeing like you do... Of course, you have the right to not like it, but I really think that's one of the best EU part that have be done in this new SW era. Just my opinion...

Jedi Temple In ROTJ!?
Time
I'd like to believe that the temple itself is some sort of trophy of the Purge. It's lightened to show like some sort of monument, and symbol of the Jedi's defeat.
I'd also like to believe that no one in the empire, even the Emperor, has been able to enter into it, cause of a Froce protection or keeping spirits, pretty much like old Massassi temples guarded by Sith spirit (in Jedi Academy trilogy books).
Now, we can imagine that, after Coruscant has been took back by the Rebellion (becoming the New Republic), no one, again, has been able to enter into it, even Luke. After all, he's no part of the old Jedi Order and might not know how to open it.

Anyway, it's a story (and I'm not talking about my imagination) that worth a novel. It could be very interesting.
Concerning Lucas, I think he has done that just for the symbolic meaning. At the first plan, we see the falling statue of the Emperor (the fall of the Empire), and in the background, the Jedi Temple still there (the Jedi Order is still alive). It's a pretty good shot, if we don't compare it to the EU...

The movies look has changed many times. See the SE, and I'm not talking about the new effects and CGI elements. The colors have changed during the restoration process, and the best exemple is Tatooine. Have you noticed that "pink" color in the image? It was not there in the original version, and it's not there now in the DVD version.

There's a good article on the changes between original version, SE and DVD just right there.
