Changes in 2004 DVDs
Time
Your welcome jimbo, but I don't totally agree with some of what you said. I can understand watching the OT, I still do thanks to my laserdiscs and bootleg DVD's (thank you guys). It's not that I feel the OT is outdated, I think the OT, SE, and 04 are ......equal....but different. That is why I'm happy to say I will own all 3 versions of the Classic Trilogy, I have the widescreen VHS and SE DVD of Epi. 1, and I have a low quality version of AOTC and the SE DVD.

2004 OT DVD release continuity error?!
Time
And the lone voice of the wilderness.

I like the change. For starters, and this is something I have always wondered, why is that Obi-Wan and Yoda come back as Jedi Spirits of what they actually were and yet.......Anakin comes back as healthy, no lava, Anakin Skywalker? When did he EVER look like that? Never of course. I mean if he ever looked like that to Luke, why wear a suit? Why not have no helmet on and fight like Darth Tyranus/Count Dooku? Oh, yes that's right, he was horribly scarred, I see. And how exactly does Luke say, Hey that's my dad, since well he looks all nice and stuff? Oh, yes the force, that little thing that let him sense Anakin within Vader, even though he never saw Anakin at all, only Vader until the mask comes off. hmmm, like this change and these versions I do. Hate I do no OT along with it. Sorry, I just felt it would be good to say my opinion because while this site is purism biased, instead of the other way around on TFN, I know that I'm not going to get flammed because I have a dissenting opinion and I am in the minority on this particular board. May the force be with you.

I cannot believe to what ends purism seems to be driving people. I cannot believe after watching that scene the way it should have been from the start, people...... purists especially........honestly........want....monkey-eyes. I cannot fathom it, I'm sorry. And as for Vader being obsessed with young Skywalker, then says "How is that possible?". Don't you get it, he's LYING? Is that impossible for a Sith of all people! I'm not mad at anyone, don't me wrong, but this is a thousand times better then that excuse of hack for an Emperor. What I saw just then was the real and true Emperor. I think to me, this will go down as one of my favorite changes, right with Ben and Vader's lightsabers, fixed snowspeeders, and fixed Rancor.

As a sidenote, please don't think I don't respect your opinion, I'm just having a hard time understanding it. And yes, I did sign the petion, etc.... but I just don't get it. Call me Lucas butt kisser all you might want to, but I like it very much. That's my two cents.

And I also disagree that he has his binders on. Watch ESB carefully again. The Ugnaughts come over to Han just before he is put in. Now as far as I can see, there is NO shot after that with the binders on. Therefore, it is from a "certain point of view" as to whether the binders remain on and we have a continuity mistake or he simply kept his arms down without the binders on. He did tell Chewie after all not to fight, so why would he (assuming the binders are off before freezing)?

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
Yes, I agree these are some great covers, all of them to me. I think each person's intrepretation of the Saga is something worth seeing in large part, but regardless, this is no democracy.

Sorry, I couldn't resist with that great public relations statement in part. Anyway, I have an important question or two regarding all of this. The first is, how should I print these covers? Is there a store I can go to to have it developed? Also, where would I get blank DVD cases, you know the nice ones so I can finally put my OT on a shelf in line with the rest of the DVD's? Any help would be great, I didn't see it covered in the last 10 pages or so.

First welcome to the forums lostITlucas. I see that you are a Boba Fett fan, cool. Glad to have you around.

Now on to what I think. Changes at all are discouraged when one likes the OT best, no matter what. If I agreed with that hypothesis of changes of any kind I would HAVE to agree. However, if I think some changes CAN be good, here we have a solid reason for a change. It is an audio clue to the audience, Boba Fett is Jango Fett's clone. And yes, I know, EU can explain the differences where the helmet has a voice modulator, but you have to admit, being able to listen to it (the Jango/Boba voice) and not ask the question I personally think is better then having to turn to something over what many people, especially non-EU, might look as a mistake, since they are physically the same person. Now if we all can step back and look at the changes themselves, not our dislike of GL or his policies being in the observation, I think a movie explanation that eliminates a question is better then having to think of an answer to a question created by the original (insert here).

Here is another example, pure logic of changes that COULD be made that actually help. (Yet again, not thinking over GL and what he is doing with the original versions). Anyway, in the cantina in ANH, Obi-Wan cuts off the arm of an alien with his lightsaber. We see the arm on the floor, open and bleeding. Now which is better, logic-wise. Seeing the scene like that and having to think up some explanation OR have the arm changed in the movie to one sitting on the floor cauterized, no blood or opening, and in watching you don't question itbecause it matches all the other lightsaber wounds?

Wolfman Back In?

I disagree. Otherwise, we really don't need new Jedi, new ideas, different ways to fight, that many new characters, ....... eventually leading to a forced decrease in creativity. The prequal trilogy is the same as the classic to me in the respect that, while they will all each stay true to the "Star Wars" feel, you need new things, new characters. I mean, if Mace Windu really isn't needed, what about Mon Mothma or most of the bounty hunters on the bridge of the Avenger? (each new creations to their particular movie, ESB and ROTJ respectivally)

Exactly what I thought as well, but I mean if you're going to advertise for the DVD's, why use a scene that no longer exists? Either way it's very weird. Thanks for your thoughts.

Some kind of elephant looking thing for the SE. I am just thinking, what's up? But then again, considering the latest SW Insider has the Vader unmasking scene with Luke and Anakin, showing Anakin's eyebrows in the pictures, but having it deleted in the DVD, maybe this is so more disinformation.

I just noticed something real interesting on the offical Star Wars website of all things. You know how they have a scene from the trilogy, with some kind of quote, you know to promote the upcoming release? Well, check out the scene that is featured right now on Starwars.com. A scene where the Wolman was replaced!? Weird I tell you, if GL and the guy who brought the mask hated it so much, but there it is. What do you guys and gals think?

EDIT: Here it is, before it gets replaced with another scene in the next few days.
