How do Star Wars people go to the bathroom?
Time
Yes, I suppose. I have these three mags called the "Technical Journals." It has a listing on theforce.net under short guides, so that proves they do exist. Whether they offical EU or not, I'm not sure there. They came out before the SE and I remember reading about how the sled moved Jabba around because he was so fat. I also know in a diagram for A New Hope they have a schematic of the Falcon that shows where the bathroom is, which unfortunately the Incredible Cross-Sections disagrees with, so we don't know where it truly is.

what annoys me the most is that the cover of the DVD box shows the original poster of SW, the one used back in 1977. With this he is clearly playing with the nostalgia of people but he has no right to do that because he is releasing the SE, and there is no nostalgia about that one.

Excuse me? I hate to be slightly rude, but I beg to differ. I have great memories seeing the SE in theaters in '97, sorry that I am only 15 years old but I bet a few people would say the same thing. Otherwise, I just wish he would release both, regardless of the packaging.

While this point is usually missed in the OT vs. SE thread, no arguement about which one is better leads to anything but arguement. Simply wanting both on the other seems completely comprimising and accomidating to me. Only problem is, GL doesn't want to compromise at all on this. And then puts out Pan and Scan versions, the true root of all evil as far as crappy Star Wars.

Sequel Trilogy? Say it's so!
Time
I thought he did act just fine. But as far as the Episode 7,8,9 idea, I don't think it is needed. The books from the expanded universe already did a fine job. Not to mention, the 6 we will have by May 19, 2005 have a good beginning to end, especially the end. To me, making movies after ROTJ is like the sequals they made to Cinderalla, it's not needed. Think about it. What is going to happen? Luke rebuilds the Jedi Order, Han and Leia have kids, a New Republic is set up with all the politics that go with it. I don't think that needed to be explored in the movies, especially now that we know a huge point of the saga is the rise, fall, and then redemption of Anakin Skywalker, bringing balance to the Force.

MORE CHANGES!!! (for the 2004 OT DVD release)
Time
This is where I disagree with the sentiments of many of the site, being the middle on this. I don't want GL to give it a rest. The fixed snowspeeders, landspeeders, and new ANH battle alone show he can make things much better then the originals. And I don't think he will continue every few years to update once he can sit down and finish it all off because he seems to like how CGI portrays his vision and I think he will be done with it all soon enough, otherwise he would make Episodes 7-9, which he is not. So while I understand the joking, give it a rest. I want him striving to improve, but I also want him to preserve. So he can have the originals and the directors cut he likes. I definately dislike the stigma he is starting to get here for wanting a better cut. There needs to be a Seperation of Logic, like Seperation of Powers. The petion is to preserve the originals, not say the SE is inferior. And really if everyone thought the SE was better, I would probably have had to make the petion because people are missing the point. It doesn't matter which one is better. Take LOTR. It doesn't matter if the EE is better or not, just that OT and EE(or whatever it evolves into) are preserved, period. There's my clarification of my position and what I think is the main point of the petion, not this arguing over versions.

Clone Wars section removed
Time
It does stink though they removed it off the site so fast because I was hoping at the very least they would be airing it as reruns on the weekends or something. I guess that is not very likely at this point, which stinks of course. I don't think we will get it on DVD too soon, but maybe it will be offered in a boxset with Episode 3 alone later down the line or something.

Hell Amazon is reporting the purchases. Amazon does state these are only the Special Editions.

Look, let me put this as simply as I can. The 1997 rerelease was not as big as perhaps you and I would think. I've talked to loads of people who didn't watch it and didn't buy the tapes. They doubt there is that much difference between the OT and the SE, something they will find out is not totally true later. But if you want to label people, calling them idiots, don't forget to apply the same standard yourself when you can't spellcheck but act like a smart a@@. Have a nice day.

As far as I know, for some time both signals will be broadcast. After that, if you still want to use your old TV you will have to buy a box to convert the signal.

One interesting thing that happened here in Brazil (where I live) is that when they began changing from b&w to color, the signal was only broadcast in color, in PAL-M, a system that would work on both b&w and color TVs. Did they have to broadcast 2 different signals on the US?

As far as I know, that is what they were doing, it may have changed now, I'm not sure.

I would agree on Jar Jar, but the only time we see blood in any SW film is the cut off arm in the cantina and that was a mistake anyway, lightsabers cauterize wounds. So where do you get this beef for wanting blood in the prequals that is not found in the PG Star Wars saga except for a mess-up?

Like those guys complaining that they shouldn't have bought the two disc Fellowship of the Ring because they didn't know about the extended edition a few months away. Hah Not only was the Extended Edition announced at the same time but it even mentions the extended version on the back cover of The Fellowship of the Ring. The idiots who think they are buying the originals deserve to waste there money. But I am sure that most who are buying the DVDs understand that these are not the originals.

1. jimbo, not everyone is as big a Star Wars fan as me and you I would assume. It has only just been announced and I'm sorry, nobody has mentioned it that much yet.
2. Have you noticed how the Offical Site never mentions the trilogy is coming in its updated form only? It seems they wouldn't mind if that went under the radar.
3. Just about 50,000 people have signed this petion. Do you honestly think that the huge amount of SW fans from the 70's and 80's that want the OT are only 50,000? No, it is just they have not found us yet or do not know the situation.
4. Not everybody knows about Digital Bits, one of the biggest sites mentioning it, and theforce.net only mentions it on an irregular basis at best.
5. Some SW fans don't have a computer, they hear about these things from word of mouth.
6. The approved packing simply says Star Wars Trilogy, period. You can't guess what the movie is inside unless you buy it, rent it, or are not part of the circumstances of the previous 1-5.
7. Nobody is an idiot if they don't know yet, people have school and/or jobs that keep them busy to start with. Sometimes you simply buy a product and expect what you get from the packaging and what you saw in the theater.
8. By your same measure would you be an idiot if you didn't know the AOTC DVD had changed the wedding scene with Ani and Padme, holding hands instead of not like in the theatrical film release? Especially if you liked it the way before?
