Ok. The general consensus seems to be a thumbs up for the show but for me, its always felt disappointing.

Season 3 of Mr Robot - for me, the show was turned out to be massively overrated. Initially, it was intriguing but it has never really lived up to its potential.
However, I have enjoyed…
A marathon of the entire Peaky Blinders series’ so far.
Loaded (UK sitcom)
Ackley Bridge (UK comedy-drama)
The Handmaid’s Tale
Just a heads up for anyone who might be interested: Channel 4 (UK) are showing the entire trilogy over the Xmas period but they’re all in afternoon to early evening slots, so they’re going to be edited for content. Nevertheless, it might be worthwhile to have a look and check out the print, framing etc. in case they’re aired again during a post-watershed slot.
Also might be worth checking if they use the audio overdubs as well.
I suspect that C4 will mute the audio or remove the scenes entirely - as they’ve done with Avatar and Titanic every year. I haven’t seen any overdubbed versions of films on UK TV in decades. Nowadays, they just hack the film to pieces instead of buying the censored package.
JEDIT: I’m away from home and didn’t set my PVR to record them. If you do, please let me know about the quality and the edits.
Muppet Christmas Carol is on Channel 4 (UK) right now but it’s the theatrical/Blu Ray version. Thought I’d TiVo is just in case but never mind.
Yes, I’ve recorded it in the past, on the off-chance but it has always been the theatrical release.
Seconded.

Aside from that one post, it’s been long overdue with all the public name-calling, harrassing, baiting, trolling, bullying, stirring and continous de-railing of threads for years.
I quite agree. Sometimes he can say things and not get banned and it baffles me.
You are not the only ones who felt this way.
A similar question was asked in that thread.
at which point he suddenly becomes a retard.
Oh fuck off already.
Before I just disagreed with your opinion on a film. Now I think you’re an asshole too.
How do you keep avoiding moderator warnings with all fights you start
His luck (or Jay’s patience) ran out because he’s certainly received a ban now.
Thanks but, it is too late for me.

BTW: a belated welcome back.
@JayArgonaut That’s very interesting, thanks for that. I still haven’t quite understood how they managed to mess up the negative, though. But it’s gone, I understood that much.
Audio wouldn’t be a big issue I think, as you said.
Is there any way to tell when this print was made?
Lastly, is the 2008 restoration made using that old print the article mentions which is from the original negative? If so, it wouldn’t be all that bad I think (could be regraded?).
You’re welcome. There’s many a depressing story involving classic films, beyond the tragedy of Star Wars and Lucas, from the original negative of Citizen Kane being destroyed in a fire, to an MGM-Pathé executive who approved the disposal of an entire vault at United Artists that contained a wealth of James Bond material, to John Landis lamenting at Universal misplacing the original cuts of Animal House and The Blues Brothers.
I think we’d have to ask the seller to check the information on the cans to ascertain when the print was made. Perhaps others can weigh in with other ways to confirm this. The authors of the article actually were working on correcting the grading on the 2008 version but I have no idea how far they have progressed.
Russian audio, so that would have to be replaced or supplemented with an English track that you can select instead.
If this print was made before the mishandling of the negative that occurred at Paramount during the mid 80s, then we’d have a great opportunity for a preservation. Check out the links below for further information on this, including problems even with the 2008 restoration.

I appreciate you checking this for me. It’s quite possible that it could be a red herring, Wiki is prone to inaccuracies.

I have to say though, that this brings back memories of a TV version I had recorded a long time ago, where scenes were missing, and some were all out of sequence, in particular around the time where Michael had fallen asleep at the wheel. If I come across this on my VHS tapes at some point (which is doubtful to be honest) it might have that scene!
It’s been decades but I’m certain that when the pilot aired on Thames TV in '83, it was the TV movie version rather than a two parter. Thanks. 😃

I know, not always most the reliable source, but it claims during the casino sequence (I think) in part one…
‘There is also an extra scene featuring Willie Nelson’s rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Always On My Mind” featured in television screenings, but not on the DVD version.’
However I think it’s more than likely they are using copies from the same source as both channels are under the same umbrella company (at least that’s my understanding anyway).
You’re thinking of the other channels (5STAR, My5 etc.) under the 5 umbrella that all belong to Viacom.
Forces TV is owned by an entirely different organisation. http://www.ssvc.com/#about-ssvc 😃
Since you’ve been recording, I have a question, does the TV airing of Knight of the Phoenix contain the Willie Nelson rendition of, “Always on my Mind” that apparently was omitted from the DVD version?
Have you checked the Spike transmissions? 😃
They’re showing the first season daily and S1 EP3 is set to air at 11:45 this morning.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about, frankly.
Other people understood. 😃
For me, the ot.com is a little like Bespin in the Empire Strikes Back, we’re a small outfit that goes under the nose of the Empire re the releases that feature on here - we need to keep it that way (though no deals 😉)…
On that note, it doesn’t help when, well meaning but misguided individuals, promote the fan projects on another SW site, where, the response to these efforts has always been at best, tepid and members of that site, even go as far as expressing their unhappiness about this work being carried out without consent from Lucasfilm/Disney.

I suspect JMS was thinking of the PAL masters that were used to produce the European VHS releases. If that was the case, perhaps WB did so because of the 625 line advantage?

Would it be Ok for me to post instructions on here on how to obtain a free copy of Windows 8.1?
No.

LOL. You could see that ban coming a mile away.

Bans mean nothing to them, they must post and ask the same questions that they already asked with their other accounts. The question is, not if they’ll return but when? 😄

Speaking of the LD’s, have you seen this?
JMS claims that, “the DVDs are actually copies from PAL/laserdisc transfers because WB didn’t want to pay for another run.” Do you think he’s referring to the CGI footage?
Yeah, I’ve got all those channels on Freeview. Viacom own Spike and CH5, hence the crossover in programming. I just saw a Forces TV promo for The A-Team on Monday nights, so that’s another potential lead, in case they’re using a different source.
Wow! Thanks for the low down, looks like I saved myself some time and hard drive space.
Replacement music and then massacred for daytime TV broadcast. The content was only ever PG rated, at the very worst and I’ve seen racier stuff shown during the same time slot on other channels.
This doesn’t make me hopeful for when Spike starts airing Knight Rider.
Over a year on, just wondered, has there been any progress on this?
Yesterday, Pick (UK/Europe) aired the original version of The Gathering and in 4:3. This made me hopeful that they’d also screen the 4:3 versions of the series - and I was ready to record the whole run, but alas, they’re using the same source as the DVDs.

I went with the UltraStudio Mini Recorder and so far, so good. Now, I need a HDCP stripper that works with 1.4a. Can anyone recommend one? The ViewHD is 1.3 and my PVR is 1.4a, so I need something more recent and I’m wary after looking through countless reviews for these devices and seeing warnings by people who had their HDMI ports blown by these removers.
I have the ViewHD and it’s been working just fine. Not to mention I have friends who use it too.
Ok but are you capturing from devices with HDMI 1.4 and above? Does it remove the HDCP on those?
