Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

Saw the trailer.

I'm starting to believe the speculation that Luke is that cyborg with the dark cloak holding Vader's helmet from the leaked production pictures.

When it shows R2 and what is presumably Luke in the new trailer you see that very robotic hand. It fits for me.

You sure that's not Kylo Ren (leaked art)?

Ahh, the so called five star collection bootlegs.

I'm pretty sure if one is looking hard enough they could find better copies of the 97se then that.

Where? I only have the TV rips, which aren't that great to begin with.

I emailed the seller telling him they're boots from Asia and he said "I bought them in 1997 from Wal-Mart, legit in my book".

'Raiders of the Lost Ark' - bluray and colour timing changes (Released)
Time

Late to the game, I know, but I'm amazed at how many changes were done for the releases. I really enjoyed seeing the "new" HD version in IMAX a few years back and thought the gold tone was beautiful. But upon seeing the other masters, it feels "too gold". I've read that the Blu-ray is closer than the DVD in terms of colors?

I would love to see someone do a "despecialized" for Raiders one day.

3D VHD discs are prime to preserve.

Has Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D (field rather than anaglyph) been preserved yet?

Thank you and Cheers!

I have a very nice quality SBS Version of Friday the 13th part 3. It utilizes the Blu Ray for One Eye and the DVD for the other. For all intents and purposes it's HD and looks great. The 3D effects are absolutely fantastic. Things just fly out of the screen all the time. It's effects like these that current 3D has been missing because Hollywood was concerned that it'd be viewed as not artistic enough. I indirectly offered the files to TeamBlu to see if they wanted to put together a Friday Part 3 project release but never heard anything back. I'd love to get Jaws 3D as well either officially or at least through a preservation effort.

I have a DVD of the Sensio Jaws 3D disc, it's cropped a bit, but it's SBS.

When did you realize the Prequels sucked?

I totally agree with your outline of the PT, as I always thought it should have started in Episode II.

I think the first scene of Episode I should have been Obiwan/Anakin on the elevator talking about that adventure where Anakin saves him. In fact all through Episode I they should have been friends, so the damn audience can actually like the character of Anakin!

The idea of having 2 actors play Anakin 10 years apart was a bad decision by Lucas, because youre asking the audience to like 2 different actors, and it is jarring at the beginning of Episode as you get used to an older Anakin. What makes ESB so great is that all the characters are there from Star Wars, the audience doesnt need any introductions, and the movie can get right into the plot.

As for Episode II, Lucas should have had Palpatine play on Anakin the whole movie and then he turns at the end of the movie, or some type of cliffhanger that makes you wonder if he turns.

Then ALL of Episode III can be a 2+ hour movie of the last hour of ROTS that is on screen now, as it wouldn't seem like a connect the dots movie as it is now.

This is how the prequels should have been handled. I really wish someone would "remake" the prequels into their own fan-films, they'd probably be far better than the prequels, unless it's already been done.

My parents also still have a VCR connected to the old huge CRT in my brother's room and my little brother still watches a lot of old cartoons and stuff on VHS.

I was thinking about getting a second-hand VCR, because I thought it would be cool to be able to play some of my old Star Wars VHS tapes but my monitor only has HDMI and VGA, so I'd have no way to connect it.

Can't you get composite to VGA adapters, being that both ports are analog?
