I’m not sure because I haven’t tried creating the premium voice yet. It takes like 3 weeks for them to get back to you apparently and you have to give them like 3 hours of speech upfront.

I generated it upwards of 100+ times so that’s probably the best we’re gonna get. Not unless I splice together some of the really excellent ones which derped out either at the beginning or end.
Eh, I personally think that’s a very minor issue. If you go to that scene in question you only see the bottom half of this page, so it’s hard to spot the similarities. Plus, it’s not like any of these writings are decipherable so it could merely be following the same formatting as previous pages.
But, as RL pointed out, the struggle for Rey isn’t necessarily concerning a family itself, but what name she should go by. Toward the end of the film, Palpatine even refers to the Resistance fleet as her “new family”.
I think the line would actually make Rey’s arc of self-confidence issues and worthiness much more apparent than the original.
Ah, you’re so right RL. She just says she doesn’t have a family name. And this movie can still totally be about her feeling worthy to take on that name or not.
BTW, the second clip sounds significantly better than the first.
That is a fair argument, krlozdac. She tells the Aki-Aki girl that she doesn’t have a family mere scenes later. “I don’t have one”.
But on the other hand, we receive no other instance of the Skywalkers readily seeking to adopt her. That’s why the ending is so frustrating for a lot of people, because she is seemingly interjecting herself into a lineage with no permission whatsoever.

As for the Jedi texts line, I’m not sure what went wrong between what I posted and what you tried. It fits if the line finishes when the camera changes to Rey, who just so happens to be finishing up “I just transferred a bit of life” which has mouth movement that seems to match.
EDIT: Maybe I should have made it clear that’s the line you’re deleting to make space.
While I’m sure a cut like that exists in the Lucasfilm archives (it was leaked that this was his plan originally leading up to the film), we simply don’t have the material to make that possible.
Palps acts surprised when he starts to sucky suck their bond. And there are so many on screen lines spoken where it’s about Palpy wanting her dead. I think it would all come across very messily. All of these lines would have to be spoken off screen (gross).
There have been some recent updates. But I don’t think it was anything substantial enough to make such a drastic difference. I think it’s mostly due to RL’s innovative method.
No, it’s still ElevenLabs. But we are using less source material, as well. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute of audio from the film directly.
My old methods for creating AI voices involved locating the actor speaking with little to no background noise. So from an interview, audio book, etc.
Rogue Leader found out that by taking character voices from the center channel and running it through an AI background music/noise remover, that you can achieve the same thing while still having them speak in character.

Yeah, so my very crude method of making these tests (just ripping out the relevant portion of the center channel) really shows it’s flaws here. You can hear an audible cutout because her crackling saber in the background goes away. But I’m assuming this wouldn’t be too hard to fix while editing. Here’s a rough test of how this might sound:

If you moved BB-8’s beeps to previous shot, when he is rolling up, that would give you the entire BB-8 insert shot to include an extra Rey line. Maybe you could keep the line as-is, and just add, “From the texts” or “The Jedi texts”.
This is currently what I’m working on. Will upload soon. There isn’t enough space for her to say anything else besides these three brief words. It works well, don’t get me wrong, but unless we shift BB-8’s beeps this is all we can do.
I personally agree with Burbin. The only mention of Leia there that I’d be comfortable with is: “Leia would’ve done the same” instead of “You would’ve done the same”.
Granted, the old line does slightly foreshadow BB-8 giving some of his energy to revive D-0. But that’s not really a big deal to lose.
So “life force from me to him” is meant to match Palpy’s: “The life force of your bond. A dyad in the force. Unseen for generations”?
As long as somebody can do the VFX mouth work I’m game for that, Burbin.
I do like the idea of merging the two ideas by having an illustration in the texts of Force healing and having Leia be the one that helped her learn it.
It goes back to her scene with Leia at the beginning. “It’s what you would do”. And then later to BB-8 “Leia would do the same”
Hmmm… I guess those lines would work if we wanted it to be a more commonly known power (which kinda flies in the face of RoTS).
What I liked about it being from the texts is that it’s ancient knowledge at that point which may have been lost. Also, we wouldn’t have to VFX any mouth movements for the line.
With our new crackley saber, she’s probably already tried it once (but clearly it didn’t fully work). But yes, I suppose this would be the first time she’s tried it on a living being.
