Perhaps put some quiet SFX of Kylo’s lightsaber, blasters, thuds, etc. that gradually get louder

I don’t remember who said it, but I think the only way the deleted scene from TLJ is going to work is if we skip the shots of Mustafar’s surface entirely and instead build up the sounds of battle as he’s staring out into space. I think that audio could really help sell the transition.
Here is my second attempt at the opening, adding the Journey to Exegol track.

Alternatively, we could keep the ship in there, coloring it black to match Kylo’s from TFA. Then we could also put in the deleted TLJ scene and have someone say in the background something like, “Supreme Leader, your shuttle is ready”.
Here is my attempt at scoring the fight with Sam Kim’s cover, already done by Jar Jar Bricks. I’ve tried to time the music with the fight in a better way.

I won’t lie, it worked well during that moment too.
That’s actually how they did it in the original too. There’s no music until Kylo comes out of the water

I don’t know about this specific clip but maybe something with lava in a forest setting could blend well with the existing footage? https://youtu.be/eLE3kaLUfUk
Unfortunately that shot has several watermakrs that make it unusable.
As for Evazan’s work, I think it looks great, but I’d replace that one shot of the lava flowing in a circle. It’s just strange and unnatural looking. Like it’s trying to form an arena for an unwitting protagonist.
I thought the arena shot looked good because this is supposed to be the shrine where Vader kept his wayfinder
Here’s my shitty proof of concept for extending Mustafar:
Clearly you can see here that nothing really works with this clip as the video quality of the added shots is very poor as well as the added music.
Honestly I think that was fantastic. Just needs a bit more work.
ignore this comment
Yeah, the main reason I want to do this so badly is because none of the main saga movies have ever gone directly from space into a planet. There’s almost always the interior of a ship in between those (with the exception of TLJ).
I think it’s still too abrupt for a Star Wars film, maybe we can hear an officer in the background say something like “My lord your ship is ready” - hold on to Kylo’s face and zoom - use a reversed shot of Kylo’s shuttle approaching the Executer from TFA with Mustafar in the background instead of Jakku - dark shuttle entering Mustafar’s atmosphere(rogue one) - slaughter.
It all sounds well and good, but completely out of my league lol
Alternatively, if we’re going with the original movie intro, I used a deleted scene from TLJ to add a few more seconds to it. The shots line up perfectly, even the TIEs. I realize it’s not much, but perhaps we could put some sort of voiceover on it now since it’s a bit longer?

PW: faneditThat looks great, yeah I think it needs an establishing shot of krennics ship (could be recoloured to black) descending to mustafar and flying by Vaders Castle to make transition to the battle less abrupt.
I would say that the transition to the battle was already abrupt. I was thinking that this would help alleviate that to a certain extent since the camera is already focusing on Kylo. Maybe some sound effects could help with the transition.

PW: faneditNice idea, maybe if we can somehow have landscape shots of Mustafar’s surface and a land battle before cutting to Kylo Ren in action, it would help things play out much more smoothly.
There are shots of that in Rogue One, although I can’t think of any suitable from Episode 3

RogueLeader, idir_hh,
PM sent! If anyone else is looking for those shots, let me know.
I’d be willing to take that deleted scene. Thinking about somehow putting it before the Mustafar slaughter in the intro of Episode 9 to try and slow it down a bit.
Does anyone have a link to the latest version of this project? It seems Octorox isn’t responding anymore.
So I just put the song over the fight on the Death Star Wreckage. Didn’t do any work to it at all (as I am not very good at editing), and it seemed to work pretty good:

On the contrary, I think it would give a lot more closure to the scene, it would better illustrate that he leaves the physical plain out of choice and not because of his weakness, having obi-wan be part of his final moments would feel quite wholesome as well as it being a nice call back to ANH.
I second this
I believe that he-who-must-not-be-named was given access to that visual effects fix for his “fan-edit”, so I see no reason as to why Immersion VFX wouldn’t oblige. And it was a version without the lightsabers.

There. Although keep in mind that I don’t have very good editing software. This is mostly just a look at a potential fix idea.
Give me a minute TNT. I’ll upload it somewhere.
@Poppasketti, do you plan on fixing the editing error in the throne room fight?
This is actually quite an easy fix that I managed to do myself. All you have to do is remove the swing that Rey does with her lightsaber. You can see the guard’s weapon during her attack. It’s when her body covers it up that it vanishes behind her. So if you simply excise the part where you can see the guard’s weapon (during her swing), you can assume that the guard dropped it while they were fighting offscreen.
I’ve already said it before, but I guess I’ll say it again: keep the no ring shot please.
I love the new ending! As for the wilhelm scream, my vote is for B, mostly because A is much more of an intense and serious moment for the characters.
Here’s my take on the current crawl we have in the plan:
Luke Skywalker has ignited a resurgence of hope across
the galaxy. Inspired by his legend, the brave have
risen in defiance of the diabolical FIRST ORDER.
REY, sole heir to the Jedi, advances her training with
the guidance of General Leia Organa, seeking to
commune with Jedi of the past for wisdom.
Meanwhile, Supreme Leader KYLO REN, determined to stifle
the uprising, scours the Mustafar system to uncover the
mysterious source of his former master’s power. . . .
Any thought on removing rhe Matrix shot from the Luke fight? Would love to see that removed too!
I’m personally fine with that shot. I can still remember seeing the movie for the first time and gasping when he does that. I get that maybe it doesn’t seem very Star Wars-like, but this movie is full of moments like that. Besides, at least this one is cool.
