I don't really get it. What has ripping off an old film got to do with being original? Unless being original now means putting together completely unconnected and spurious ideas. The whole thing strikes me as very odd.
It was not in a Lacie enclosure. It was a bit more generic than that.

Right I have decided to take the plunge and have a more reputable data recovery service have a look at it. Its going to cost between £350 and £650 to recover the drive. Perhaps I will set up a donation account after all!!!

Check out my remaining hard disc drives after the loss of my Star Wars Begins HD and found that "Blade Runner Replicated' has suffered a loss too. THe whole project in fact. The only thing to survive was the simply DVD menu artwork. Should be easy enough to resurrect though. A couple of days work should do it. Best get my DVDs back from my friend and get ripping.

The freezing technique looks interesting, however, there is no power to the drive. The company I sent it to reckon that the heads have gone. I am going to try another company soon. Thanks for your offers of money. Not sure what to do about that yet.
By the way the drive is a Seagate Barracude 7200.10, 250 Gbytes.
I wonder if I could track down another of the same model and get someone to weave some magic.
Bad news folks. I just heard back from the drive recovery people. The drive is dead and can't be recovered. Star Wars Begins is no more.
I will pretty much have to start from scratch.

Thanks for the heads up. Since you posted, Kyle and I have been in contact and I am sending him DVD copies of my 'docos'.
With BE and RTJ I got all of the source clips together from hundreds of sources and used my encyclopedic knowledge of the films to help me fit them into relevant parts.
I then go through all the material again and again until i've used the best bits in the best possible place and in the best possible way.
Well I am currently stuck in Shanghai thanks to the ash cloud across Europe. My drive enclosure should have arrived in the UK by now so I will give you an update when I finally return.

I've been in touch with the Director and they've been very pleased with the reaction. It certainly sounds as though the screenings were popular.
I am looking forward to the film getting a European premiere as soon as possible! Maybe even put a few faces to names.
After some ten hours work over the last week I've just had one of my drives, containing about 80% of Star Wars Begins, crash on me. I am gutted to say the least. I hope its just the caddy and not the drive itself.
I have ordered a new caddy in the hope that the drive will come back to life. I am away for a couple of weeks now, so I will post any news when I get back.

Well it's getting shown at SxSW next weekend. I wish I could be there but I am in the middle east working.
