STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

Matte = non reflective, eg: paint comes in gloss, semi-gloss & matte.

Wiki:

matte painting is a painted representation of a landscape, set, or distant location that allows filmmakers to create the illusion of an environment that would otherwise be too expensive or impossible to build or visit. Historically, matte painters and film technicians have used various techniques to combine a matte-painted image with live-action footage. At its best, depending on the skill levels of the artists and technicians, the effect is "seamless" and creates environments that would otherwise be impossible to film.

Does anyone have a high-res picture of the matte painting used in this shot?

I have scanned this from The Star Wars Chronicles:

This is a photobucket resize, the original file is about 40Mb, you can actualy see the weft of the print. I can send it to you via "YouSendIt"…

With a bit of Photoshop a lot of the print dots could be removed, some detail & texture could be added to the transports & columns etc.

Wouldn't it have been cool if the most iconic ship in the OT had've been in the prequels.......as an earlier version, without those 'special modifications'..........not just a stripey paint paint job (that we did get if you used a magnifying glass in AOTC & ROTS)

You can check out more photos of this model here:

Very nice Angel, I'd really like to try and modify this whole film perhaps using Adywans SW:R as a base coat, but using your background mattes (as in the chasm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXj71enrQV0 and the hanger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGf-kYtLUQs )

It would be a huge task....but as we can see from your images on the page previous, it would be a totally different film.

As a lifelong fan of astrophysics, and having contemplated the vastness of space quite a lot, I think it's entirely unlikely that that is a galaxy at the end of ESB. I understand that Star Wars rarely, if ever, obeys the laws of physics, so this is just for the sake of providing some insight and I think adywan is thinking along the same lines, so maybe this avoids him having to elaborate.

I've often felt that only the worst space fiction treats galaxies like countries or planets one can easily hop between. For all intents and purposes, this galaxy we live in IS the universe. Even after we achieve faster-than-light travel, we will likely never leave our galaxy. Even at 100 times the speed of light, it would take 1,000 years to cross the Milky Way. Talking about the distance between galaxies, even at 1 million times the speed of light, it would take 2 full year to get to the nearest galaxy.

It is simply unlikely, even with the most advanced technology one can dream of, even with wormholes, that lifeforms are capable of leaving their own galaxy.

Damn!!

You guys realize that being outside of a galaxy doesn't mean you don't see stars right? Other galaxies will appear to you as stars, so all the other stars you see in that final shot are just other galaxies.

Yeah, outside of a galaxy there are the regions of other galaxies..........if they were hiding outside the regions of the universe then they might see no other stars other than in front of them (but cosmologists have suggested that perhaps the universe is spherical so when you reach the extremities of the universe you will be looped back to the other side.......bit like discovering that the earth isn't flat)

Well apparently in the EU The faceless AT-AT was pilotless machine designed by, you know the stormtrooper who found the droids bolt on Tattooine...well not him, the guy to his immediate right in that shot.... well anyway this "Shadow-Walker" was designed to match the motions exactly of its counterpart Walker as seen in the picture and wreck double the carnage....except it didn't have any weapons.

Their mission failed due to the fact, as Sluggo noticed, that due to it's counterpart that it was shadowing having only three legs, they both fell over.

Whilst we are talking of models.....well Lord Grievous was, Fine Molds are now taking orders for a new batch of 1:72 Millennium Falcon's, which sold out a couple of years ago and which Ady (and myself also) paid a fortune for......due out in Dec.

The old topic of a Cargo/Troop Shuttle in ROJ being 'Tyderium' instead of a Lambda shuttle has raised its head over at ESB:R,

I did this rough mock-up a while ago.

Not to seem like a douche, but I think Angel did one similar and the matte was even enhanced.

Yes, ESF, and all credit given to Angel who inspired me to try to make a motion mock up of that scene...my image is a grab from a test render.....I gave up on it as I would need to spend time texturising the shuttle......I still have all the files and have saved the project so I might go back to it.

Heres some photos from a Japanese Model builders Blog here's the link:http://yumen.chicappa.jp/ModelersBible/ they're all pdf's and you'll need to download them.

Ben, if you use Safari (apple's web browser also for PC's) go to 'Window', then down to 'Activity' this will open a list of all the active material on that web page eg: the images as png's any flash videos running and a list of all the soundboards on that page listed as mp3's, all you have to do is on an apple is hold down the cmd button and double click the mouse and each file will download to your specified download area, i've downloaded things like these for my son in his pc using this technique with safari but cant remember which button to hold down whilst double clicking the mouse (fn..ctrl...alt...one of them)

Give it a go Safari is free from the Apple web-site

This isn't so radical (although I do remember rumours around the time of ROJ's release, backed up of course of it's original title 'Revenge of the Jedi', that Luke after discovering who his daddy was has turned to the dark side.......sneak photos showing him wearing a black cloak disguising his features and making him look.....evil. The force choak was all part of the play.....was he still good ol' Luke or did he answer those telepathy calls from his dad?), What about the Gammon Guards rubbery fingers that almost bend back on themselves while restraining Han & Luke?
