Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hi Harmy...gotta say you've mastered the craft in blending out the SE additions....dewback scenes ('look sir...droids!' & outside the cantina) are seamless....fantastic job.....transitions between the removed Jabba scene work flawlessly.

Following are a few screen grabs:

Scene (A) the crushed blacks in Sandcrawler....gone

Scene (B) I'm afraid the Orange sun doesn't look as realistic as the higher one

Scene (C) The shadows look a bit green to me

Scene (D) But you're shadows look fantastic here compared to V1 (& the BD), note the GOUT is very similar to you're V2

Scene (E) This shot is definitely a lot sharper than V1...but landspeeder has lost colour a bit....jarrs in next scene when the colours are back

Scene (F) Shadows are green again

Overall I think everything is looking f**king fantastic.....definitely improving on V1....cant wait for the next part

If Ady or someone really wants to focus on the ship stripe colors then do it for the same reason that Vader's TIE has bent wings - so that the audience can easily remember which character is in which ship.  Originally, Vader was going to be flying a regular TIE just like his wingmen until someone suggested his should be different to make it easier for the audience.  Apply the same logic to the speeders - Luke's should have the orange stripes so it stands out as him being the squad leader.  Everyone else has gray or no stripes.

Or the other way round....Lukes being grey markings and his colleagues orange....only thing being they applied this logic after live action had been filmed....:(

I haven't seen this brought up yet so I thought I'd chime in.

Vader only refers to Boba Fett as "bounty hunter", which then seems odd after Fett's character is built up due to popularity.

Any chance that Vader could refer to him by name?

Where could you find Vader/JEJ saying those lines?

Nice mock-ups on those grey 'markings' Jaitea (there should be a 3rd one on the top panel too), and matching 'snowlines'.  And I'm hoping the backdrop will match a little better between those shots in the final 'Revisited' version also, perhaps.

Oh yes...missed that

That reminded me that I'm hoping that adywan will add the missing grey 'markings' to Luke's Snowspeeder in the shots below -

They're in place during this shot...

...but are missing in these next 2 shots...

...but then appear in place again here...

Had a quick attempt to address this....

Sorry Youtube has blocked this upload....(thought it was the audio they pick up) on...)

So can it be done?

Well there is no way i'm building anything more than i am already for this edit. Not only would it add extra months to create this thing but would add to the already overreaching budget. And to go down the CG route, the foot would have to be so well rendered and have the movement match 100% to give it natural looking motion when interacting with the original speeder. And you only have to look at the speeder crash in the chase scene at the beginning of AOTC to see just how fake something like this can look. So, no i won't be doing it.  But if someone was to prove that this thing can look 100% realistic with Cg then i'm willing to change my mind

Please excuse the temporary audio......to try and get by youtube

http://youtu.be/CYboFt2OJNE

i know its not perfect....but if I kept at it for a few more hours it would be a good bit better....

Heres the clip with original soundtrack:

I have to agree with Angel, regarding which is visually/subconsciously correct. Ultimately it comes down to Ady's intent with the edit, but considering that a general complaint of the SE is that the digital effects look fake, this seem a valid observation.

The BD shot while visually uninteresting, it is photo-realistic, where the Revisited image strikes the subconscious as not right for film. As was noted earlier, regardless of how the human eye sees things, as life-long cinemaphiles, our brains all know what things should look like on film, and when they don't our brains register as being unreal. The cumulative effect of that is it takes us out of the action on the scene.

I do agree, when you look at the 3 images, the BD image and Angel's look natural...the back light is effecting the figures in front of the window, I'm all for a more realistic shot

If they have metallic gloss, you probably can't really scan them properly.

Just thought I'd point out that in the world of trading cards, they'll sometimes release the metallic ones and the regular ones, because the world of collecting is insane. Obviously we want the regular type.

Yeah....like I said Post 2819
