I wonder what the actual reasoning behind it is, not the made-up EU explanation.

I'd say the "EU explanation" is probably the real explanation as well. I've met other people who think it's really weird that he's wearing Hans clothes, but it really does make sense. Lando would have no other clothes than what he fled Cloud City in, and those were probably soiled during his escape and the following chase.

So do you think Lando actually soiled himself during his escape....I'll have to watch it again

In the new Star Wars Insider's ask Lobot section someone asks the question that has plagged Star Wars fans since 1980.

Why is Lando wearing Han's clothes at the end of Empire?

The explanation they give is that Lando didn't have time to pack when he left Cloud City so is borowing Han's clothes whyst he's trapped in carbonite!

I still prefer my explanation though. They where origonally Lando's clothes but he lost them in the same Sabacc game that Han won the Falcon in. Lando didn't have enough credits so Han took everything including his ship and the clothes off his back. Lando walked away from the Sabacc table completly bolluck naked!

Hmmm....bollocks

Was Tarkin the main villain in Star Wars?
Time

No, to me Vader was obviously the villain, he could choke people by putting his fingers  together!!!

Tarkin was his superior, a thinker....who got to his position by respect.....no-one in the boardroom would dare to speak to him the way that Motti did to Vader....Vader is a throw-back to an ancient religion....the force in the 'first film' was a more mystical ideal

It's Official: George Lucas hates his fans :P

The studios do distribute a load of crap films.

If this film is crap and I can't say it is because I haven't seen it but if it is I think the studio reaction (assuming that Lucas hasn't pulled that out of his bucket of chicken) is more to do with the financial downturn than race.

It does seem very cheap of George to play the race card defense.

What about the first major motion picture about gay airmen in World War 2 George?

Racism is a bigger social issue but cinematographically it's kind of covered, where as with gay American war heroes, male and/or female, there's a lot of room for coverage in there.

With conscription there must have been thousands of gay service men and women during the war.

So much so that even a bad film would be considered at least a step in the right direction.

George could have made one like Windtalkers only with gays speaking Polari and using the inscrutable hanky code instead of native Americans code talking in Cherokee and Choctaw.

So......have you something to tell us Bingo?

:)

It's kinda strange watching clip 1, seeing Yoda.....he feels like a real actor.....like a whizened green Sir Alec.....especially after seeing the CG Yoda sell Vodafone (with better graphics than used in the prequels).....embarrassing how much Lucas is using the faceless characters for every advertisement campaign

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Ok, first of all I haven't been able to follow this thread as closely as I used to, so I don't know if any of what I will post have already been discussed or pointed out.

I skipped through the newest workprint a bit, because I thought I'd help out a bit and usually one finds some stuff when just skipping that you wouldn't notice when watching it normally.

So here's the most apparent thing I found. A color inconsistency which I don't know if it's something I caused with the render I gave you Harmy, or the blu-ray itself. I've deleted the render from my harddrive so there's no way for me to check.

Here it is, the color difference is that in the second shots most of the blue colors seem to be completely desaturated to grey.

How many Frames does the blue desaturate for?

You could Ps the colours back in if its not too many

Good to see you back Ady...and thanks for the comment...yep the first test I tried I was going to just warp the engine thing, to make it look like it got crushed , I still have the test frames, I could post them when I get home.

It would be a pleasure to attempt this (with a bit more care obviously) for your edit.

I'll look into the snow thing

Thanks, J

It seems that although it was shot at 1080p, it was mastered at 2k:

I'm guessing 2k will be the next home format, so SW is future proof for a little while....

Sorry to burst your bubble but 1080p IS 2k.......1080 x 1920(2k)

It is very sad, films which are currently being restored and released on BD are commonly scanned at 4k or higher....and the master that was used for the SWBD's was scanned at 2k in the mid 90's.....and theres possibly no chance of a higher scan of the original cells because they won't contain all 'the improvements' that Lucas has given us since then.....but what about Ultra HD currently in development?

For someone who prides himself in pushing for digital over film, you'd think he'd had the foresight that 2k wouldn't be sufficient for long.
