Rank The Indiana Jones Films
Time

I think this will be my ranking but who knows.

1.Raiders
2.Doom
3.Skull
4.Dial Of Destiny
5.Last Crusade

I kind of like Treasure of the Peacock’s eye but not sure where it should be in the list.

Edit: loved the trailer for Dial of Destiny they showed with the Super Bowl, unironically its going to be great. Should be a thread here on the film but there isn’t one.

Will Disney ever release complete soundtracks for the 9 “Episode number” movies?
Time

I’m still waiting for the vinyl release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I’m hoping the new 5th Indiana Jones movie will get them to release that, who knows about the Star Wars films since they went about recreating the original albums instead. But didn’t use the original album masters. I don’t care for the remixes, the hiss removal and the new vinyl reissues are not better than the original pressing for the OT.

The remastered Episode II and III are better than their original release though and finally on vinyl.

Complete OT isn’t available. Even if you have the rare lapti nek single vinyl, the arista box and the special edition CD there are the other versions of Yub Yub that Rinzler put out for instance which aren’t on any release.

Who is the most annoying character in Each Trilogy? Excluding Jar Jar, Rose, and C-3PO.
Time

The Last Jedi version of Luke when he is acting like a kid and throws his lightsaber. Yeah he is redeemed from this later in the movie and it obviously is a hard rejection of the call to adventure, but it is pretty annoying and out of character for Luke without context for what happened after Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens. I’d just as soon he handed it back to Rey, as in either his powers have grown to the level where he doesn’t need a lightsaber like Yoda or he is now a pacifist monk who won’t wield a weapon. He cannot effectively take up arms to fight the first order because he is beyond it. He isn’t able to anymore but Rey can.

How to Watch Star Wars, Part Two: The Special Editions Are the Movies, Get Over It
Time

I saw this video and didn’t even bother to leave a comment, it is so idiotic. A bad faith argument. And probably the worst take i’ve ever seen.

Nearly every other director with exceptions and studios for that matter do catalog releases of their films. Star Wars not being available to own is ridiculous.

The worst argument is the money, technology has advanced where if fans can restore 35mm prints for significantly less than what FOX spent on the Special Editions, Disney could easily restore the originals and it won’t cost millions. And they don’t even need to touch the negative if they restore from another source. Obviously not a release print. Fans resorted to that because they have nothing else.

Nobody is throwing rocks at George and saying he can’t have the 2020 Special Edition locked in as his final cut, what fans want is the movies they fell in love with and as they originally were released.

I wish someone would ask Kathleen Kennedy about the original versions of the movies
Time

Doesn’t George legally have final cut on the 6 films? If so it is up to him if the originals are released. He clearly doesn’t want them out there.

I mean it is strange because he didn’t direct Empire or Jedi. Even if by a certain point of view he George Lucas or Rick McCallum directed the Special Editions.

Which version of The Phantom Menace should I buy. I only have a 1080p TV and no 4k blu ray player
Time

The best the film has ever looked on home video is the 4K. Any of the blu ray’s are fine for 1080P. I personally wish we had the theatrical cut on the 4K disc i don’t care for the added scenes.

I have the 35mm grindhouse and it is very soft looking. I don’t think we will ever have a version of the movie that is perfect. the digitally shot scenes like the midichlorian test stick out like a sore thumb.

I think they may have sharpened the blu or 4K but i’m not 100% sure. But it certainly is sharper looking in the scenes that aren’t dvnr waxy.

Jurassic Park films
Time

I liked the third Jurassic World film and how it brought both casts together. But it didn’t make much sense. The first was a requel of the original film. I hated that. So Disney Star Wars Force Awakens being a remake of Star Wars 77.

I have to revisit the original JP film. I have the CAV laserdisc, and i meant to get the making of and sit down and watch both but i never got around to it.

The Unpopular Film, TV, Music, Art, Books, Comics, Games, & Technology Opinion Thread (for all you contrarians!)
Time

I don’t begrudge people who enjoy the Marvel movies and shows, but for me it has become so unwieldy and a chore to even follow along what the hell is going on i’d rather watch a standalone movie. I like to have 2 hours of entertainment not do a homework assignment. And to me except for a few of em maybe they are just big commercials for the next movie, far too many of them seem the same and regurgitated. I know not an unpopular opinion, an unpopular opinion would be that these schlocky mass produced assembly line corporate product are actually good films.

I’m also sick of nostalgia culture and movie and tv series which can’t do anything except try and recapture or remake the past, or imagined past in some way.

Favorite 80s TV shows!
Time

Even though it hasn’t really aged all that well i would say Star Trek The Next Generation.

Flash Gordon Filmation
and He-Man filmation

Thundercats

Transformers first two seasons and the movie only.

I watched all those shows you mentioned in the first post including Airwolf and Dukes of Hazzard i wouldn’t actually watch them all now. Including Magnum PI and Macguyver.

George Lucas should get more credit for "saving Anakin Skywalker" in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Time

Lucas would have also been in charge of Star Wars Underworld and episodes, 7 8 and 9 if he hadn’t sold his company. Who has claimed that Lucas wasn’t the creative behind Star Wars. Like it isn’t obvious after the awful job Disney has done.

Now its Disney/Filoniverse but no Lucas. Its not even 10% real Star Wars.

I’m no Lucas or prequel apologist but it is plain for me to see that Lucas wrote the first 6 films. Kasdan did drafts on Empire and Jedi but he didn’t write the story. He was the one who wanted to kill Luke and Han. And how awful is Episode 7 Kasdan wrote that without Lucas.

Filoni without Lucas is straight up fanfiction.

Batman V Superman Ultimate Cut. Been a while since i watched it. it is terrible. Dark, pessimistic. Worse score and cinematography than Man of Steel. They really should just have made Man of Steel 2. And set up Supes universe as a standalone first, then had Ben Affleck direct his own new take on Batman. Then make the Wonder Woman movie, then have an Avengers style teamup after those franchises were established.

The Snyderverse is dead. I liked Affleck, and Gadot, and Cavill in their roles but other than not getting a more optimistic take on the character played by Cavill i won’t miss Snyder.

Man Of Steel. Beginning of the movie is good and the film is overall decent for a Superman movie. What gets old is the 40 minute long explosions and fight scenes. Maybe reduce that by half and make the tone a little more brighter and hopeful and you’d have a great Superman film. Also reduce or get rid of all the Jesus allusions. Like i get it and i respect that the director is a Christian but it gets overwhelming after a while.

I know everyone acts like this movie somehow ruined Reeve Superman but to me it is overwhelmingly reverential of those films almost like an amped up remake of Superman 1 and 2. Except it is darker and Superman he has self doubt, he is almost emo and brooding. And because it is Snyder everything has to be giant scale and epic even when it doesn’t really have to be, or super serious.

Deep Space Nine
Time

We were lucky to even get Deep Space Nine on DVD. There is never going to be a 2K scan and HD version. And they aren’t exactly hurting because the DVD sets sell well for Deep Space Nine and Voyager. There is a demand for the DVD. Is there for the HD. Doubtful a market exists for 100 dollar per season HD remastering on Blu-Ray disc. Trek fans are stingy they aren’t likely to want to pay like 700 dollars per show for a remastering.

Because i genuinely liked the earlier efforts and i like Steve Carell. But yeah i rented most of them. Its only about 6 bucks for an HD rental. I’ve never really regretted paying to see something recently, except maybe the last Jurassic World but that was dumb but entertaining. Something i wasted money on and never finished. Dr Strange 2.

My niece and nephew keep trying to get me to watch Disney Star Wars. But i’m not interested. 10 bucks a month for that service and you own nothing. I like to own my Star Wars on physical media. Even if it is bad.

The last one i bought tickets for was Force Awakens. I might go see Indiana Jones V but if i do i would be a fool to trust Lucasfilm again.

Added Star Trek Discovery Season 4 Blu-Ray. I have no idea why i keep giving this show a chance, it is something to watch at least while i wait to be disappointed by Season 3 of Picard.

Added Empire Strikes Back 1986 Japan with OBI. Edit: i was outright scammed on this one it was the 84 release with no OBI. Which is worth about 10 bucks and this guy charged me 40, because i mistakenly thought it was new with OBI based on pictures which were lies. He scammed me once but he won’t get repeat business from me. I hate EBay.

Raiders of the Lost Ark with OBI Evergreen
Temple of Doom Evergreen with OBI.
In a lot that also had Regarding Henry with OBI, The Fugitive with OBI. Under Siege II without OBI and a bunch of other Seagal films i’ve never heard of. A lot of junk.
