Did you manage to watch the clip? Any suggestions in particular?
Did you manage to watch the clip? Any suggestions in particular?
In the previous one, there was the problem of the trio abandoning the Death Star without Obi Wan, and without even seeing him.
In this one, they see Obi Wan, but they realize that’s impossible to leave with him, and he manages to order Luke to run. With this change, we can alternate the duel with the Tie Fighters chase, with a whole new rhythm.
Right now I’m working on the audio, and then I’ll work on the visual side.
OBI WAN VS VADER TEST.
It is not finished. Not at all.

I gave up about making the sequence look like that trailer I posted before, but I think it can be changed a bit from the original.
The audio is still extremely rough, as is the video. Lightsabers not finished, color correction not finished. I posted it just to show the new rhythm of the sequence.
Please, tell me what you think of it. Remember that the purpose of my saga edit is to keep a consistent tone, also with music tracks. So we have prequel trilogy music and a bit of Rogue One.
Again, tell me is it’s at least acceptable. 😉
Alright… yesterday I tried to make the Obi Wan VS Vader sequence to look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm4JEZudf0c
Basically we start with DoF when we see Vader in the hallway, and then we follow the music. The main change is that Luke, Han and Leia leave the DS with the Falcon while Ben is still fighting. So Luke does not witness his death, but he feels it (with the shot of Luke looking up just before the Tie Fighters approach).
It sounded cool, but the great problem is that the trio leaves the Death Star without Kenobi, and without knowing he is dead. I tried to add Ben’s voice saying “Run, Luke, Run” while he is fighting Vader, but it didn’t sound ok.
Unless someone has ideas to give the duel more rhythm, I’ll keep the original duel with some music tracks…
Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll check it out!

I’d really like to know what you guys think of these.
No. It will be released in 720p. I have a pretty old computer… I can’t even watch movies in 4k smoothly, lol.
Really looking forward to this
That looks sooo good! What did you apply?

There’s a new hyperspace tunnel and a new Falcon.
The Falcon’s cockpit has blue lights.
And there’s a new asteroid field.
The Falcon in hyperspace still needs a bit of work, even if I don’t know if it will look perfect. Same for the asteroids… I’ll mask the Falcon better, but I hope it’ll be acceptable.
New one.
There is still a slight blue tonality, but way less visible.
I’ll play with it a little more. Maybe increase it just a bit…
Do you think so?
Man, I think I really have no eye for color correction, cause this looked ok for me, as other frames I published in these last weeks, lol.
Millennium Falcon color correction.
I’m trying to work on this.
The original looks sooo flat, and I kind of liked the colors from The Force Awakens (blue-ish “room” and yellow-ish corridors).
So here’s a test. Please, tell me what you think. I’m also working on a masking over Kenobi when he walks in front of the corridor.
I thought about that… There’s already the shot of the Death Star approaching Alderaan in the original. I could also cut Admiral Motti saying that they’ve ENTERED the Alderaan system, so that we don’t know how long they’ve been there.
Again, don’t take me wrong, I’m simply exposing my point of view.
I don’t think it really matters why they are. Who knows? The Death Star has been in orbit for minutes. Maybe they all understood what was going to happen (Bail went back to Alderaan to inform them about the DS), and they are panicking.
About the explosion, I tried to add something like an explosion in the background, but the camera is moving in the Naboo shot, so it always looked like sh*t. At the end I chose to create that white-to-green effect…
Anyway, THANK YOU both for the suggestions, I’ll surely go back to that.
I could add the laser just before it hits the planet. But I think nothing else.
The shot of Bail looks awful (I’m sure you know that), and the short planet view being hit looks too different in color and style, IMHO.
Well, don’t take me wrong, but I disagree.
You think it looks like they’re celebrating because you know they are celebrating. The shot has a high brightness, and it’s increasing… plus, it’s very short. The only aspect that could make you think they are celebrating is the Gungan waving a flag, but considering the moment it could simply be a guy trying to get the attention of the scared crowd. Also, as a viewer, you see the natural destruction FIRST, so that you’re already in the right mood. Then you see a city that you know from previous movies… I mean, you know that’s being destroyed.
This is only my personal opinion, of course. Not an expert, here…
I could add some shouts, that’s for sure.
Needless to say, I’d like a comment, especially about the Naboo addition. 😉

It’s almost the same, but I added the suggested track by Alan Silvestri… and I added kind of a reaction shot.
Remember, in my saga, Naboo=Alderaan, so… here it is. I think it works quite well, especially the short Naboo sequence.

Ok, I just noticed that in the first frames, the moons are not ok. Already fixed.
I quite like the less noticeable atmosphere and how it is visible also on the upper yellow of Tatooine.
I also cut straight from the laser hitting the Tantive, to the droids reacting, so that we don’t need to realize the ship is just a fake model.
Here’s a suggestion: use the music in this video (the music I recommend should be after 0:58) in your edit of the Alderaan destruction scene, allowing the scene to have more emotional weight. What do you think?
Sure! Considering that in my saga edit, Naboo is actually Alderaan, I think it’s quite good for emotional weight.
Less blue. The less we notice the better. Don’t repeat Lucas SE mistakes 😁
I’ll follow the suggestion
Thanks, really appreciate it. I’ll work on the color… maybe a little more blue-ish. Or less, I don’t know… right now I went back to the opening and played with it a little bit. New clip coming very soon.
Nope 😃 It looks too different from the movie…

I quite like this.
I’m still not sure about which tonality to use inside the Death Star. Is it better to have a more grey-ish color, or keep the blue tonality and work on it? Tell me what you think…
