Star Wars - Episode IV: The Heir of Skywalker (V2 Released)
Time

Some updates.
In about three weeks I’ll have my degree, so… things are going slow these days.
But this edit will definitely be released before the end of the year. Mid-to-end November or December, mostly thanks to Possessed’s edit which enhanced all lasers (saving me the time to make them from scratch). I’m color correcting his shots to match my edit.

Anyway, here are some other comparisons.
Top is the Blu Ray or the original Possessed edit.
Bottom is my own version.

I’d really like a comment about these.

The Original Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread

Something that I don’t think I ever really got when I was a kid is that we’re supposed to be surprised that the Death Star II is operational. Obviously there’s lines of dialogue that set this up, but when you’re young you pay more attention to the visuals (at least I did), and while visually the second Death Star is incomplete, the weapon part of it is not.

So basically my idea is, what if the Death Star II is missing its dish? So we think there’s no possible way it could fire. But then, suddenly, it fires anyway (out of the recess that should hold the dish).

On a separate ROTJ note, does anyone have any idea how to have the droids get taken by Jabba without playing Luke’s hologram? Could you just cut from them entering the palace to being in the droid torture dungeon? Would that make sense? Maybe recut the scene with Bin Fortuna and add subtitles saying basically “yeah right an audience with Jabba, you two are ours now.”

You could cut at the point where the gamorrean guards appear, so that the audience thinks they captured 3PO and R2, maybe?

I LOVED what he had in mind, but then he shut the project down… I was so sorry to read that.
The problem is that the Tatooine shot looks very different from all other shots with the planet view. Different in color, in camera motion, etc. If I had a tatooine model like that I could replace it everywhere (or actually no, not with Sony Vegas), but adding that shot would be just like adding that remade Kenobi-Vader duel… it’s too modern.

I’d really like to have an opinion about this.

I kinda like this. But I’d like to have other opinions.
In general, Death Star lights are flat, so I want to enhance them a bit. I could simply place a glow and keep them white, but this gives the look of something more modern, IMHO. After all this should be the Empire’s jewel, a technological masterpiece.
Anyway, please give me your thoughts 😉

In the previous one, there was the problem of the trio abandoning the Death Star without Obi Wan, and without even seeing him.
In this one, they see Obi Wan, but they realize that’s impossible to leave with him, and he manages to order Luke to run. With this change, we can alternate the duel with the Tie Fighters chase, with a whole new rhythm.
Right now I’m working on the audio, and then I’ll work on the visual side.

OBI WAN VS VADER TEST.

It is not finished. Not at all.

I gave up about making the sequence look like that trailer I posted before, but I think it can be changed a bit from the original.
The audio is still extremely rough, as is the video. Lightsabers not finished, color correction not finished. I posted it just to show the new rhythm of the sequence.
Please, tell me what you think of it. Remember that the purpose of my saga edit is to keep a consistent tone, also with music tracks. So we have prequel trilogy music and a bit of Rogue One.
Again, tell me is it’s at least acceptable. 😉

Alright… yesterday I tried to make the Obi Wan VS Vader sequence to look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm4JEZudf0c

Basically we start with DoF when we see Vader in the hallway, and then we follow the music. The main change is that Luke, Han and Leia leave the DS with the Falcon while Ben is still fighting. So Luke does not witness his death, but he feels it (with the shot of Luke looking up just before the Tie Fighters approach).
It sounded cool, but the great problem is that the trio leaves the Death Star without Kenobi, and without knowing he is dead. I tried to add Ben’s voice saying “Run, Luke, Run” while he is fighting Vader, but it didn’t sound ok.

Unless someone has ideas to give the duel more rhythm, I’ll keep the original duel with some music tracks…
