Hmmm. I mean it looks really well made. I’m just curious as to… what they’d be talking about there. Or why, lol.
I really wish I had the tools and/or the talent to take any sort of crack at him myself. No idea where to even begin, but hey. I’d do anything… for Shaw!!.. 😢
Aw 😦
Now if only Jonh can get Luke to the barber shop… we’ll be in a great place 😃
And give Sebastian Shaw his time to shine as a ghost as well… (Yes, I won’t ever let this go!! 🥴)

Time to seed!
Edit: My bad.
I hope what’s happening in The Mandalorian show so far doesn’t throw a monkey wrench into what this edit has changed about TROS.
I think I’d have to actually see it first.
Me too.
The purple lightning seems to be a Special Edition/Prequel recolouring thingy. My copy of 4K83 has Palpy shooting blue. So, I dunno.
Goooood.
- In Kylo Ren’s mask montage, Rey says, “You’re a creature in a mask” at 18:08. But it’s hard to hear over the music. It’s an important line. Could it be moved just a second or two later so it is more audible?
Agree on this, watching it back.
I like the blurb.
TFA: Restructured
TLJ: Retweaked
TROS: Readjusted
Restructured
Legendary
Ascendant
tfa should get a proper title to match the last two…
That sounds better and more smooth. There is still a weird different swell of music that plays under the line, but I assume that’s because of the editing circumstances of that bit. As good as it’s probably going to get, so it sounds fine to me.
Solo A Star Wars Story fanedit? 😉
The KoR voice project had different options for dialogue, so I just picked the ones I preferred. And some I didn’t use at all.
The ice wall audio is super tricky and convoluted. But I will revisit it again and see if there’s anything else I can do. Knowing that it sounds like the music drops out helps! Perhaps dropping in a little bit of music that halfway matches would help.
I am really loving workprint 6! Such great work. Haven’t checked out 6.1 but I have KoR notes if there were no significant changes there.
Love the addition of “traitor” but if there are any more takes with a “rebel scum” level of disgust and hatred in the voice acting it might punch more? (It did stand out to me, that duplicated audio for traitor but I am reading you already resolved that in 6.1)
I don’t think anyone has said this yet, but I feel like the “what?” / “…how?” KoR VO when Ben reveals his teleported lightsaber may dampen the wry comedy of that moment. (Not that it was like, “actual lol” funny, I just think the beats of the KoR’s silent reactions and his shrug were near-perfect originally.)
I think I agree here. The KoR are speechless originally, and that was funnier I think. Maybe have them just say the one “how?!” instead of two different guys talking? We can tell they’re shocked by their body language, stepping back speechless. I dunno. Not the biggest deal in the world.
Sorry for annoyingly nagging on about this, but the (at the very least) audio transition from original movie into the re-cut “how thick do you think that ice wall is?” sequence is still not sitting right with me. I’ve been trying to watch it from different angles or frame of mind, and it’s jarring for me every time. I know you had to do it this way because of the original score over Poe’s dialogue in the theatrical had to be masked. But surely there is a more seamless way to do it? I don’t know.
The score before the changed part is a big swelling orchestra track. And then it’s basically immediately cut off into a quieter sounding (literally and figuratively), simpler, almost centre speaker playing track. I guess if you’re not paying attention to it while watching it wouldn’t be a problem. But I noticed it, not going into this remembering that bit was tweaked.
Don’t mean to be whining about it (because I have no idea how I’d attempt to change it) but yeah.
The Rey Nobody cut will just take some clever trimming. A lot of the dialogue about Rey’s backstory can stay. Basically only any explicit mention of “my grandchild” and stuff like that has to go, I think.
I’m skimming through it and I’ll add to this as I do with other nitpicks and anecdotes.
The full-sounding 5.1 audio during the ice wall scene seems to dip out during the newly edited “How thick do you think that ice wall is?” moment. It seems to just be the score and Poe’s line playing. Maybe add some ship/space ambient atmosphere sounds to fill up the channels? It feels like going from 5.1 to lower quality stereo during that clip. Also, the score is clearly edited as well, and the lack of more atmospheric sounds to drown that out just calls attention to it a little more than it should. I’m playing it loud and with headphones on, so I assume it would be even more noticeable on a larger receiver setup.
Finn walking in during that scene is edited as best as it could be with the foliage and everything, but it stiiiill feels ever so slightly like he just popped in out of nowhere. I’m not sure what to do with that.
As much as I personally didn’t mind the Goonies compass thing, I like the change to make it a Sith chant guiding Rey either way. However, (and this might be off-topicy, so I apologize in advance) it begs the question… why didn’t Luke just go back to Endor and check out the Death Star II wreckage? Before or after the Ochi trail ran cold. The Rebellion would have had the schematics to DSII still, knew where Endor was, and should have tried checking around Palpatine’s chair room at least. Right? This isn’t the fault of this edit, as the DSII ruins were just on another Endor moon in the theatrical cut. I guess it would have taken too much time for Luke and Lando to scout an entire moon? If that’s the thought process, then I can accept that, I suppose.
I remember someone posted a few clips of the Luke haircut. I’m guessing that wasn’t the whole scene? But I hope that works out and gets added to this. It was looking great.
Really hope jonh didn’t give up on a Sebastian Shaw ghost…
Gonna leave it there. This edit is so good. It flows so much better. The extended shots to slow the pace down are very much appreciated.
Palpatine’s fingers have some lightning show up in the workprint now.
