All Of The OT Formats & Releases...
Time
Well I'm from the Uk so I don't know if it's the same but I have...

And these were the years they were released....approx!!

ANH - 82 pan & scan, - 88 pan & scan, - 91 Letterbox, - 93 (I think, could be 94)Letterbox, 95 - (ISD Box set)

ESB as above apart from 84 instead of 82 obviously

JEDI again as above but 86

All had different covers apart from the 88 release, which was the first time SW was released on VHS for sale.
The 82 of ANH was the Rental as was 84 of ESB and 86 of JEDI. ESB cost me £56 and JEDI cost about £60, which in those days was a shit lot of money..Still is infact....

Oh and of corse the SE versions!!!

I wish I could post you some pictures of the tapes I have, but don't know how to

I also assumed Naboo and the Jedi temple would have been destroyed. Seeing them still standing in Return of the Jedi is surprising.

All you do is moan, moan moan.

j/k

Happy Birthday man!!!

One of the points I was trying to make is that this version of SW on DVD out in September, will probably be the final version. I doubt that he'll release a special, special edition for the 30th anniversary.
No ones gonna buy that, apart from the hard core fans (me).
So the version out in september is HIS final version.

So for the 30th anni - why not show what was and what is now......
It's a great way to finnish it all off - His lifes work!!

Right here goes..

I was a little stoned last night and had trouble sleeping, so I lay in bed and thought about a few things.
Then everything sort snapped into place, and I think I figured it all out.....

So.........Here goes!!!

In september we are going to get Star Wars on DVD. This DVD so far is the biggest selling DVD of all time. Every fucker wants SW on DVD. Lucas knows this, Lucas knows that alot of people are going to by this.
So I think that this version IS the final version of the film. This is the 'Archival edition' (or whatever)...Why do I think this? Well....

Lucas is always going on about he's making these changes because these are the films he wants us to see.....Do you really trhink that he's gonna relaese the DVD in september with a few cahnges, knowing millions of people are gonna buy them, only to release another version in 2 years with added scenes or whatever.......no.......This is the version he wants us to see, this is the final version....
Think about it....The average Joe couldn't give two hoots if Han shot first, or if Bobas voice is different. NO, all thay care about is having SW on DVD, and Lucas knows this. So if this is the biggest selling DVD of all time, I doubt very many people are going to go out and by another box set in 2 or 3 years. Only the die hard fans would do such a thing, (which brings me to another point, which I'll talk about later). If these are the films Lucas wants us to see, why release another verions in a space of a coulpe of years...Not many peolpe would fork out another £30 or whatever, just to have a few minor changes...No.....

THis is the final version. Now, when EP3 comes out next year, the changes to the OT will make sence. The Hayden Ghost thing, the Clone voice thing, all the little changes will all make perfect sence, somehow.
So with that in imind, when 3 finally comes out on DVD that will be the only version. Then we'll have another box set of Episodes 1,2 & 3.
Now 1 and 2 may have slight changes, but only slight. Again, the average Joe doesn't give a shit about an extra 10 secs here or there. The changes will be slight. eg. Bail Organa in TPM. I know for sure there was a scene filmed for TPM that featured Bail. He was played by another actor - Adrian Dumbar(sp?) a british actor who looked like a Welsh rugby player. Obviously while editing the film, Lucas thought that this guy was'nt right to play such a big role in the next two film so cut him out. It was probably a pointless scene anyway, just a few lines in Palpatines office, mainly for the fans to go"Ohh look Bail Organa, Leias dad"....So quite easily a new scene could be filmed with Jimmy Smitts, for the PT DVD box set. Little changes like that.
So 3 comes out on DVD, and you can then by the PT box set, put it next to the 4,5 & 6 box set, and there you go...The Ultimate, Final Star Wars. The Way Lucas wants us to view them. The films he wants us to see.
I don't doubt that after 3 is released on DVD that they will bring out another big box set with all 6 films. But thats just for those who didn't bother buying the DVD first time round.

So my point is,even Lucas is not that stupid or greedy enough to release the DVD in september, with changes, to be bought by millions, only to release them again, with a few more changes, only to be bought by hard core fans. He wants us to see HIS film, so the versions that will be coming out in 2 months are those versions, the ones he wants us to see. The final version of Star Wars.

Now I said up there somewhere about die hard fans are the only people to by another box set...This brings me to the original versions.
'The Archival Editions'...Now doesn't archive mean something old, stored away, in the archives!!!...see where I'm going with this.
I reckon the 30th anniversary edition will be exactly that. The original versions and the final versions in one box set....like the Aliens box set..both versions on one disc.....a 7 or 8 disc set......This way all the fans who have been ranting and raving about not having the films they saw as a kid on DVD will finally get the chance to own them, along with the version Lucas wants you to see.....everyones a winner!!

Then you can see why Lucas DID make the changes. I'm sure that ANH will look pretty shit compared to EP3 if viewed in order.123456.

Now this all made perfect sense last night, I hope it does now!!

What do you think?!?!

Wrong. That is the exact same list. Word for word. And it's fake. And quite frankly, much of it is insulting to any fan of the original trilogy.

It's not actually the same list word for word.
I posted the old list months ago on this site. There are slight changes to the list.
Ifd it's true so be it. I mean, they are changing the OT so much now, I could'd care less anymore.
It'll be intersting to see what Lucas has done, but man, now more so than ever before, I just want the old movies back.
I'll buy the DVD when it comes out, only because I hate the VHS versions (I have all of em, but it's just so shit next to DVDs) and want superior sound and pictures.

We'll all found out in 2 months - to the day!!
Yay!!!
