Exactly. There's nothing wrote with not having a grand scheme. He honestly did not tink it was going to be this huge.

The man is not like Tolkien who had enough notes to fill 12 volumes of material publlished after his death. Nobody sets out to make a movie with a grand universe like Star Wars already mapped out. What I object to is him hemmin, hawing and outright not admitting that fact. Why can't he say "I don't know, I had no idea where it would go from there, except for a couple of pages of outline."

Why do you guys give him the time of day? No matter what happens, Gomer will defend Lucas till the day he dies.

Look, Lucas never wrote complete and full stories to cover this alleged grand saga, bottom line. He doesn't know what he's talking about when explaining Star Wars most of the time. That's why he has the EU writers and people at LFL like Pablo Hidalgo to fill in the blanks. I don't particularly hate him, but he struck gold with Star Wars and has been going to the same well for for ages He needs to move on from his monstrous creation. I'm sure that he never intended this thing to consume his life the way it has too.

Star Wars In 3D
Time
I saw Nightmare too and it looked really good. And like people have said it's not a type of 3D where it jumps out at you but instead as a more rel look of depth to it. fully this will transcend well for the upcoming Star Wars 3D project. Monster house used the same projection system I think. But considering Nightmare made 3D after the fact, it hopefully will work with the films. But didn't McCallum a couple of months ago say they were still working on the technology? This was even after Disney's plans for Nightmare.

Letterbox looks like CRAP on a widescreen HDTV :(

I had it with zooming in all the time and decided to just make a back up copy by running it through DVDRebuilder and converting the 4:3 to 16:9. As far as quality is concerned, I sent it through multipasses in HCEncoder and stripped the Spanish and French tracks. It does look better this way than zoomed in on my player. And at least the subs for those few scenes that need it doesn't fall off the screen. It doesn't make any improvemens overall but it's just a convenience for me. But damn it Lucas, this took me a couple of hours to do onmy home computer that's 4 years old. He could have done the same thing, probably with bette results.

There was a TV series? Dang.

I wish somebody would pick up for release or fansub the Japanese version of Starship Troopers. It was much closer to the book.

I've seen worse, but usually they are old tape to DVD transfers of crappy dubbed, pan and scan, kung fu movies by companies like Xenon, Ground Zero, and even Tai Seng.

But it's Star Wars, we have to accept it. Right? Right?

That's the defense of all those little ass kissers. "Oh well it brings us back to our childhood." Well, why the hell didn't Lucas release it on VHS Pan and Scan then, since these copies aren't much better? That's a load of crap on a plate. He releases this pile of shovelware as bonus discs and expects fans to buy the 2004 release yet again?

I love the line, "these are for parents now who want to relive that past." Well I don't know about anybody else, but parents, with kids or people like me in their 40's expect better.
