The end of Star Wars?
Time
Zombie, I totally understand what you are talking about. I would have invited you to the new Basher's sanctuary, but I never figured you to be a basher, anyway. i remember the whole debate on TFN about the release of the '06 DVDs. It was like talking to brick walls, except brick walls are not as dense. I haven't posted on those boards since the release of those DVDs.

It's not so bad that fandom is dying down. The decline of fandom doesn't lessen the impact or the goodness of the OT. I've grown tired of knowing everything there is to know about the nuances of Star Wars that is not contained in the movies. I don't need to know the manufacturer of the engines for the X-Wing for me to enjoy the movie and have never really enjoyed any Star Wars novel that was not a movie adaptation.

I guess that makes me a fundamentalist fan.

I think you're using Azureus, so I don't know what the equivalent of Super Seed mode is. But it should be fine as is. It's your client trying to share with a large number of downloaders. For those leechers who are around 90% if you increase your upload to share more, you would help take the strain off the one lone seeder.

I think we had a Cyberhome for about two weeks when we yossed it because it had problem playing dual layer discs.

I burn all my DL discs as DVD-ROM (not DVD-Video). They play perfectly in my Cyberhome when burned like that. You just have to be sure and create the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. Haven't had any trouble with discs as long as I did that. I do wish it could play Divx files, but it's fairly easy to convert those to DVD as well.

These were dual layer R3 discs. It would only play one layer of the Shaw Brothers remastered DVDs. And they were store bought.

I absolutely love this film. I had wondered why this film was rated R at first before I saw it. Nevertheless, it was a great story and imaginative. Del Toro knows and understands myth and does it right here.

I believe that what Ophelia experienced was real because of the mandrake, and her mothers slight reaction when it was thrown in the fire.

Jambe Davdar, you mentioned the QC discs being dual layered, are there any plans for a single layer DVD-R? I don't have the ability to burn a dual layered DVD-R, I can only do single layer.

I've have been talking about this to other members on the last few pages of this thread. Some have concerns that the release would be SL and compromise on quality. Others are worried that they won't be able to make DL copies.

What I am going to do is release a DL version to the key players and if any of you want to use DVDshrink or DVD2one, you can do so.

Thanks
JD

I've become a fan of DVD Rebuilder with HC Encoder.

The are 2 relatively easy ways to do the conversion. Supposedly DVD Santa can do it, but the one time I tried it did not work.

The other option won't give you the greatest results. Nero Vision allows you to extract a video file when creating a DVD and you can do that with the Building discs, after that you can create ne DVD from it in NTSC format. The problem though is that only the video files will be extracted, so menus and special features will not be converted. I've done it with a couple of babyhum releases.

The R2 Porcco Rosso did have an English dub and subtitles on it s did many other Studio Ghibli discs. But I believe the dub cast is different from th R1 cast. Just like they changed the dub cast for Laputa, Castle in the Sky. The R2 and R1 of Kikki's Delivery Service was unchanged however.

I have the latest fansub of Macross DYRL downloaded either from ADC or BitHQ and it's really good quality and DL, which also made into DVD5 with Rebuilder. I would have to do some diggng, but it is possible I have a VHS copy of Clash of th Bionoids in storage.

10 years of the Special Editions

Speaking as one who saw these films as they originally came out from '77 onwards, yest the spectacle was great to experience, but watching it, I still disliked the changes for the most part. I think universal admiration for the Yavin battle. I didn't like how Jabba looked, and I disliked the new look of Tattooine. But hey it was like getting shore leave after being out at sea for 18 months, it looked great and you got drunk off of it. The long battle of the revisionist nightmare that Lucas has churned out since then became our collective hangover.

I was thinking the same thing, that Lucas should learn from the example of these other studios when they screw things up. That and the fact that as far as box sets are concerned this eats up the ones from LFL.

Also this is a response from Warner that was posted on DVDTalk forums:

Statement from Warner Home Video, November 27, 2006

Bonus content was omitted from the "Superman III Deluxe Edition" in the 14-disc "Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition." Furthermore, disc one of "Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition" did not include the Dolby Digital 2.0 mix. Neither disc is known to be physically defective in any way.

Warner Home Video wants to extend apologies to all of our loyal Superman fans who've waited so patiently for these great collections and has taken immediate steps to correct these errors with the intention of standing behind our product 100%.

Replacement discs can be obtained by calling: 800-553-6937. The exchange program applies only to purchases of the “Superman III Deluxe Edition” in the “Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition” and to disc one of “Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition,” available as a single title, as well as in “The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection” and in the “Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition.”

Very good move on their part, and a fast response to a problem considering the news broke over a long weekend.
