Help: looking for... Star Wars Ep1 and Ep2 - With Deleted Scenes Restored!

Really? I had no idea. I'll have to track it down and see.

Edit: Wait, didn't you do the Phantom Re-Edit? I thought this was a shorter version of the film. I will have to take a look and see my copy.

Lucas is way off....time will tell....
Time
I think some of the PT will stand the test of time. The caring for the characters is there in Revenge of the Sith. Everything seems to click and you get a wonderful film. I think the characters of Qui Gon and Darth Maul are interesting enough for people to atleast enjoy TPM enough to watch it occasionally. AOTC, the verdict is still out.

It all depends on what GL does with them. If he brings them back out, SE's them and gets the editing RIGHT in the first two prequels, I think they can be really great films. Insert more of Maul's scenes back in, cut down on Jar Jar and remove the childish reactions of Anakin, and they will stand up without question.

Should Lucas replace Guiness with an aged McGregor?
Time
McGregor wouldn't go for it and neither would Lucas. The replacement of Anakin wasn't a big deal to GL simply because Shaw uttered like 5 lines, and having the young Anakin Skywalker, who basically dies when Vader is born makes some sense.

Guiness will not be removed. The only character I see being replaced would be in a 'alternate special edition' version with a CGI Yoda. Lucas has the utmost respect for Oz and his work with the Yoda puppet, so the only way I see him doing this is as a bonus just to show fans what it would look like.

I'm 100% behind a CGI Yoda in TPM though.

Sifo-Dyas, for someone that doesn't like Lucas's "revisions" you sure did alot of it connecting my words to whatever you wanted them to say.

You are insane to say that the PT wasn't as revolutionary. Before the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, how many films had fully digital characters inteacting with live action ones? Very few. Do you think the WETA would have believed they could have achieved what they did with LOTR if it had not been for all the advancments and chances Lucas took with the technical side of the PT? Revenge of the Sith was filmed in it's entirity on a sound stage, with very little in the way of sets. Almost all the enviroments you see were created by computer imagery. Mind boggling.

I'm not even goint to attempt to respond to the other garbage you posted, simply because you questioned things, then made up your own answers for them, and then told others not to bother answering because if they did, it would mean this. Unreal.

Jaster, I appreciate your sentiment and enjoyed your personal view. However, I own a movie theater and had on display all 6 film posters in the lobby. The kids that walked in, who would have been around 7 to 10 when TPM came out and even younger, for the most part seemed to point out how much they enjoyed it over Attack of the Clones (a film most consider to be better). Some would say that they had seen 1 or 2 of the OT films, but seemed more excited about TPM. I found this all very interesting, to all sorts of people's reactions to the saga. People weren't shy about just talking about it in the open, standing in the lobby. Great stuff for a Star Wars fan to witness.

A modest proposal: Should Lucas make more OT changes?

If he were to ever add scenes the Star Wars (again of course), I would think a scene in which Vader returns to the Emperor as Dooku does. While we don't need an explanation, it always seemed odd that single manned TIE Fighters weren't supposed to make it out that far into space, but Vader somehow made it back to a Imperial stronghold after spinning out of control.

According to Star Wars canon, Vader's Custom TIE has its own hyperdrive.

What canon?

The Prequel Curse

I don't think Lucas is hoping to have a 'audience full of yes men'. Tell me, how many other directors are attacked so vigorously for their films? No one. While you may not agree with what he has done with the films, he hasn't done anything that the casual film viewer has a distaste for. For those of us that want the OOT, it's frustrating, but for most, they don't care. The great films are still there, just cleaner and updated.

What you see now is what Lucas sees as ANH, ESB and ROTJ. He may tinker with them more, he may not. The LOTR books were re-written a few times. He has the ability to make the changes through advances in technology. That in it of itself is a marvel of modern film making.

As for the the Prequel films. A good majority of people that were from the age of 7 - 16 when the Phantom Menace came out loved the film and have loved the prequels. A new generation of Star Wars fans has been born, and they actually enjoy the PT.

If they didn't, TPM wouldn't have made what it did. Neither would the other two PT films. If they weren't enjoyed, people wouldn't have continued to go back.

The problem with any fanfic stuff I've seen is it's too 'sci-fi' nerdish. Training the Jedi in the new temple and blah blah. People want the raw, galactic Empire stuff. That's why ROTS is so popular. You can relate to the people in it, as you can with the OT. The OT is just a band of friends trying to make a difference in the galaxy. When you go too far off the map, you lose casual viewers.

I say create a Prequel trilogy that involves Yoda and explains 'the prophecy', where it came from and how the Sith were almost destroyed.

Anyone use Adobe Premiere Pro?

Yeah, I think that is what it is. I have 512 as well, probably will upgrade soon.

So does everyone think I should just convert to AVI and save myself alot of the trouble?

Sorry about not seeing your reply. Basically, I'm trying to take The Phantom Menace and edit it in Adobe Premiere with minimal conversions. Unfortunately, now I am seeing that Adobe Premiere Pro will not allow me to export and MPG with 5.1 Audio. Grrr....

I'm very good with Premiere Pro, spent 4 years in school working with digital video and the such. However, that's been a few years and the DVD editing is newer to me. I'd like to be able to do edits such as extended versions of Attack of the Clones and such, but really can't get moving.

I did find the problem, it's my PC, it's just too slow. I don't know why, but it is. I moved to a different computer that is faster and had no problems on that end.

I'm not using AVIs, I'm using MPGs from the vob files. In retrospect, I probably should just use AVIs but I don't want to lose any quality and don't want to spend all that time converting.

I just wanted to comment on something that is mention in this thread. A couple of people have commented on the changes in the 2004 set, compared with the OT and 97 SE's, that went too far, specifically the emperor. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ian McD originally play the emperor in "Return of the Jedi"? I know it was a different person in "The Empire Strikes Back" (I believe it was an old woman, with Clive Revill's voice.) I don't think that this was a change that went too far since Ian was in the original theatrical release of ROTJ. In fact, I think it was the best thing he could've done to keep the continuity intact.

Because they changed the dialogue.

I'm so glad that HOMELAND SECURITY and the FBI are fighting to keep our movie studios safe from bootleggers. We can all sleep easy at night knowing no group of bootleggers will hijack a plane to ram it into the Paramount Studio lot. Ugh!

In case you missed it about 4 years ago, much of the Justice Department was put under the heading of Department of Homeland Security. Kinda like how the Secret Service is in charge of catching counterfeit money, but their name really has nothing to do with it.

I'd be for a whole new Star Wars if it had little to nothing to do with the Skywalkers. Their story is now complete. Most of the treatments and fan stuff I've seen about Luke is total garbage, just sci-fi nerdy stuff to the max.

Start fresh and new with another group somewhere else in the galaxy far, far away....with minimal crossover characters.

First off, I have no problem with you letting your buddy down the street watch YOUR copy of the film. Legally, I don't know what the standing on this sort of thing is. I believe you have a limited liscense to use it for your personal use, but from there out I'm fuzzy. I know you can't mass distribute it. However, I seriously doubt LFL, the FBI and the MPAA are going to have huge crack down friends lending their DVDs to each other. Likewise, I don't think LFL has a problem with what we do here, as exhibited by MF's invitation to the Ranch for a screening. Is what we do legal, from a certain point of view yes, and no. Does Lucas seem to care, in that he will shut us down? Doesn't seem like it. We do it out of appreciation for what he has done in the past and present. We aren't trying to cheat him out of a buck.

I don't care if you've seen ROTS 57 times and paid each time, if you download it and watch it without paying for that viewing, you are stealing. When you buy a DVD, you buy the right to watch it as many times as you like. When you buy a movie ticket, they print the time and that is the only time you are given the right to watch the film for the money you paid.
