Episode 3: Fan Editing Ideas Discussion
Time
LUKE
Still... there's something familiar
about this place. I feel like...
I don't know...

STRANGE VOICE
Feel like what?

LUKE
(looking at the
creature)
Like we're being watched!

I think Luke senses Yoda as the fimiliarity, not Dagobah.

His reference earlier to something out of a dream was either a) seeing Yoda at birth or b)seeing Obi-Wan's spirit near death. He hasn't told anyone he sees Ben, and his hesitance to tell R2 reaffirms that he still isn't sure if he saw what he saw. The planet being where he thought it would be, his going there...all seems to be matching the 'vision' or dream he had.

Idea: Revenge of the Sith: Extended Edition
Time
Hating him might have nothing to do with it. Neeson is classically trained, and I doubt very much he enjoyed working in front of a blue screen and being told that most of the scenes would be 'done in post'. Take Batman Begins for example. Very little was CGI'd. He was able to flex his acting skills in a real surrounding with the actors directly in front of him.

Alot of actors are particular about how they do films. Rex Harrison refused to redub his musical numbers in My Fair Lady because he had been trained to perform musicals live and felt he did each performance differently. He stood firm and they had to create a hidden mic for him that would be hidden in his collar so that his on set vocals would be recorded.

But this is WAY of topic, so I won't continue any further.

Episode 3: Fan Editing Ideas Discussion

They aren't going to mess with the flow of the film now, simply because ROTS actually is one of the Top 10 or so highly ranked films on RottenTomatoes this year. Lucas isn't going to hurt his chances of possibly getting some awards by dragging the film down time wise.

The next edition, I'm sure alot of this stuff makes it back in. Also, when the format expands in disc capacity with HDDVD, you will probably see a longer cut.

Idea: Revenge of the Sith: Extended Edition
Time

This is a bit of an unusual way to start a thread, since I won’t be the one that actually is doing the editing. After losing about 3 weeks worth of rotoscoping frame by frame lightsabers in ESB, I’ve given up on editing.

However, I would love to see a Revenge of the Sith Extended edition made on a dual layer DVD.

I know there are people that are prepared to do fan edits and such, but I don’t really want a version that changes the plot so much as re-inserts the deleted scenes and shots. Of course, some editing is going to be needed to bridge in the music and to choose wipes to be used. Sometimes there may be redundant dialogue and would also cause some editing to be needed.

A short list:
Shaak Ti killed by Grievous
Dooku’s line of “Just because there are two of you, don’t think you have the advantage” before the duel
Rebellion meeting in Bail’s office
Rebellion meeting in Padme’s apartment
Rebellion confront Palpatine
A Plot to destroy the Jedi
The Emperor’s shuttle approaching the planet
Exiled to Dagobah

Those are the list of deleted scenes that we will have in DVD quality that can be re-inserted.

I’m hoping one of our fine editors on this site can make this a possibilty. I know I would certainly be willing wink wink to make a substaintal Paypal donation to that editor should the work be satisfactory.

What do you all think?

OT Released AGAIN!!! (DVDAnswers.com article on possible new box set...)
Time
Off the shelf and not being distributed anymore are two different things. If LFL and Fox aren't making any further prints of the 2004 release, then this would be what is replacing it during the time period they are also selling the PT and ROTS DVDs. It's barebones, meaning it can be alittle cheaper and might grab those parents buying Christmas gifts and getting ROTS to snatch a copy off 3 of the other films up.

Everybody does it, I don't see the big deal. We've gotten barebones releases of The Godfather on DVD and there wasn't a riot.

Aren't the previous DVDs off the market now? I mean, that they are shipping them anymore? How is this trying to milk money off of people, if they are just basically re-releasing the latest version? Fox loves to rerelease their films in the barbones versions, and this looks like nothing different.

Let's not overreact just yet.

Episode I Digital Yoda Images!!!!
Time
This Yoda work is old news. The puppet was entirely removed from TPM before they even began work on Yoda for ROTS. Lucas, with new workers doing the CGI coding this time around (some never had done anything outside of a video game), wanted them practiced and ready so that when they recieved the rushes of all the prefilmed Yoda sequences..they wouldn't just be learning on the fly.

Thus, he and the head of this department had them remove the puppet from TPM, much like the work they did on a short clip from ESB to showcase the process to George.

But it is certainly good to see photos of this.

The only way I would EVER support a CGI Yoda in ESB or ROTJ is if painstaking detail was paid to capture every movement and characterstic Oz put into the puppet.

Info Wanted: your opinions on the changing lightsabers colors in the OT
Time
The thing is, I think the PT lightsabers was one of the things the films got right. We are talking about a controlled beam of raw energy. It should be alive, yes, but consistent. The size should rarely change, and only the blue or red glow should flicker or fluxuate. The core should be solid and un changing.

But that's just my opinion.

7, 8, 9 Force Spirits?
Time
I always thought that since the acting was so poor in the final Hayden ghost image, that his smug, almost evil smile was the perfect setup for this being Vader's ultimate plan. To feign redemption to become the most powerful being in the Force. As Obi-Wan says, "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine". Vader realizes that Obi-Wan must have reached another level of which he had yet to achieve.

Thus, he contrives the plot, and at the end of 6, we see his success. 7,8 and 9 deal with Luke training and developing his Force skills to not only combat an apprentice Vader has taken on, but to also eventually achieve the power to destroy his Father once and for all.

Kinda kills the redemption aspect of the Star Wars films, but it was a nice thought.
