Once i found a website called www.[my sister's name and family name].com
it's the site of a real estate seller in california who has the same name than my sister. i sent her the link and at first she thought i had made that site to make fun of her. she also thought that it was a weird feeling, especially because our family name is not a common one. i think it's different for someone calles John Smith for example. I can imagine that there are hundreds of persons called like that.

What a f***ed up explanation! This means that Anakin becomes evil after only he's dead or what? But Vader goes back to the light side minutes before dying in ROTJ so logically it is his face as it appears without the mask that should be the real ghost. And how is Luke the supposed to know that Hayden-Anakin is his father? He didn't see the prequels...
Seems to me that Lucas is creating even more plot holes instead of fixing existing ones.

I also think he can be quite annoying, especially with his language, but since he plays the devil's advocate on this forum, banning him would mean that we are not ready to accept different opinions and point of views. And hey, we are the majority here anyway so why feel threatened?

Although I think he should at least have signed the petition...

exactly. people wouldn't discuss endlessly about greedo shooting first, the new jabba scene, luke's screaming and the new final scene in ROTJ if the OT would still be avalaible. thy would rather spend their time watching the OT than ranting bout the SE on the internet. well, that's at least what I would do...
i also think that the prequels would be better liked too, since many of the changes in the SE have been made to adapt it better to the prequels. there's a certain resentment for them as well.

and there's something i've been wondering for quite a while: why do Americans remake successful European movies? couldn't they just dub them or subtitle them like we do here with US movies? i mean, it worked for "amelie", so why didn't they also do it for "birdcage" or "la totale" (= "true lies") for example?

i agree with that too. i maybe could even like the SE if i knew that i could get the OT too, that they could co-exist peacefully. but since it isn't the case, i see the SE as the "murderer" of the OT and thus dislike it with a passion. i guess this will change when i'll get my bootleg dvds or when (being idealistic now) they will finally release the OT too.

and i also don't think that the SWs movies are only George Lucas'. he would be a nobody doing movies about teens in the fifties and space ducks if it weren't for the fan. let's face it: movies are not like books. you might be able to print your own book, paying the publishing costs etc by yourself but for a movie it is impossible, those cost waaayyy too much. and guess with whose money GL made the SW movies (especially the prequels and excluding ANH)? with the fans'. so, in a certain way, they are ours too, it's the money we've invested that made it possible. and they should release the OT at least as a sign of respect and ecknowledgement for this. and for historical preservation because it is the OT that established SW as a popular phenomenon. if it hadn't been that successful there wouldn't be a SE, let alone the prequels. so it's actually our own fault that this happened. we killed the ot!

what i mean is that the style of that picture is clearly from the '70s. and since this is not the version of the movies released in '77, '80 and '83, imo it's incredibly hypocritical to play on people's memories of the original edition. i'm 21, meaning that i wasn't around when they came out at that time but when i see that picture i associate it with the pre SE and not with the SE. the SE have their own posters and they should have used those for the DVD release.
and i didn't mean that they do that to con people in believing that those are the original ones but only that they are using the poster of the movies that established SW as a cult trilogy, for releasing the SE.

but if Fox would pressure GL t release the pre - SE edition, he wouldn't do that

what annoys me the most is that the cover of the DVD box shows the original poster of SW, the one used back in 1977. With this he is clearly playing with the nostalgia of people but he has no right to do that because he is releasing the SE, and there is no nostalgia about that one.

i accept your explanation, but i think that a droid, even if especially enhanced to fight lightsaber duels, would stand no chance against a jedi master. and if yes, then it would be really disppointing becuase it would show that the force is not what it is cracked up to be if a machine can be more powerful. i think i just can't imagine a droid with a lightsaber...

that with darth maul never ocurred to me, imo a sith is the same than a jedi and can do the same stuff, they just fight for different sides. and Lucas is really destroying the myth of the force. in ep1 with those midichlorians (sp?) and now in ep3 by letting a droid use lightsabers. it isn't that mysterious anymore if you consider that even a toaster could use the force...
and how could a droid have midichlorians???
