MORE CHANGES!!! (for the 2004 OT DVD release)
Time
right, putting lloyd would be as logical as putting hayden. oh well, we don't know how they are going to explain it yet.

that scene is great just it is. you can also be too zealous some time...
i think that, if this is really true, the only thing that could stop them would be the special effects not being good enough to make it look credible. although, that didn't stop them from putting that jabba scene in ANH.

but on the plus side, as samatar said, there will be more people yearning for the OT in this case.

and maybe they planned to do that at first but dropped the idea. perhaps that's why they wanted to wait till ep3 was released to release the DVDs. they saw that it wouldn't work out so they decided to release the DVDs earlier. i think i'll go with this explanation. living in denial is so nice...

think of it this way: han being frozen in carbonite is the same thing as him being frozen in ice... being cryogenetically frozen.

always thought so too. carbonite sounds much cooler (pun not intended)

but I have to admit that I've always thouht that there were only a couple of weeks between ESB and ROTJ. so that means that Han missed out 3 years of his life?? freaky...

Last line of episode 3?

yeah well, anyway, it will be made clear that Anakin Skywalker = Darth Vader with the transformation scene. and when in ANH we get told that Luke Skywalker's father was called Anakin, it gets obvious.

do you think that people in 50 years who have never seen any SW flick should see first the originals and then the prequels or the other way round? i'd say originals first to keep that 'vader is luke's father' twist.

I am sure from what I understand they would have put anything else in the Cantina instead of a Wolf if they had the money. So while I want the OT to be preserved, I think that change in the SE is legitmate because GL's original vision was that thing would not be in there.

one of the things i find really charming in the original trilogy is that they had to be creative because their budget was limited. and this is a good example for that. and also that they didn't have CGI so they made real efforts to make the creatures look realistic. it's more like an art, i see the puppet makers as bein like craftsmen.
that's also something i don't like about the prequels: Lucas has an almost unlimited budget and he uses tons of CGI, which makes it look fake and artificial.

maybe they got the mask from a snow white movie?

Star Wars DVDs selling fast
Time
wow...3 minutes in one, 30 seconds in the other... [ironic]that's a lot[/ironic]

here's my proposal for a definition of special-edition-worthy changes: Changes that are so obvious that most people notice them and that affect the storyline and the character development. Excluding new scenes, these are not changes to existing scenes but only additions.
(I know, it sounds confused and contradictory so if someone can find a better one, please go ahead)

Indiana Jones: not SE
TPM and AOTC: not SE
Blade Runner Director's Cut: SE
SW SE: duh

another question: why didn't George Lucas call the SE "Director's Cut"?

Look at number 12 under the ROTJ section. Talks about Hayden being painted up and replacing Sebastian Shaw.

Sebastion Shaw who played Anakin when he was unmasked has been replaced with Hayden Christenson in make-up to make him look older. Anakin has much more dialogue. He apologizes for the destruction he caused, he thanks his son for turning him back to the light, he tells his son to rebuild the Jedi and he says he loves him and his sister. Just before he dies he says, "It is finished...".

Oh holy crap...
Back to the argument that SW belongs to George Lucas: if he does this he will literally erase Sebastian Shaw from the movie, that is so disrespectful towards this actor. And extended dialogue?? WTF?

But it sounds really exagerated and more like a rumor. I don't really believe this.
