Out of town...

yeah I have, and like I said, couldn't stop reading it either, but I'm starting to get tired of his style. his recent books have all the same structure: there is a new technology being discovered, something goes wrong, a group of scientists (everyone with a different special skill) is sent there to repair it, but it doesn't go as planned, scientists are in trouble, some survive and some don't, at the end threat is annihinlated. This works for Jurassic Park, Lost World, Sphere, Timeline and Prey.
On the plus side, it is true you get to learn a lot, it is explained in an approacheble way, Crichton's research is well done. And there are books which escape this scheme: Great Train Robbery, 13th warrior, airframe, rising sun. But these are older ones. Recently he hasn't changed much. Nevertheless, I know I will be buying every book he is going to publish...

BTTF trilogy are my favourite movies. mainly for sentimental reasons. It's something between my sister and me. Sometimes we even call each other 'butthead' and 'slacker'! There are so many things I like about it so I better stop writing about it now before I get started...

What Doc would say about the petition "If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything".

wanted to edit my post but didn't work. got a message that said that i'm not allowed to post in this thread.

basically i wanted to correct some typos and the sentence "I just write down what I write about them as I go." should read "I just write down what I think about them as I go."

checked out ur site bossk, it's really cool.

I like the review of the Michael Crichton books, I've read all those on your site and also Jurassic Park, Lost World, Sphere, Airframe and Congo.
Prey is one of my least favourites, I guess it's because I got too much used to his style. I read almost all of his books so could predict some things that happened in the book. i didn't really like Rising Sun either. Felt too much anti-japanese, and now it seems outdated since now Japan isn't as powerful as it was when the book was written.
What I like about MC is that his books all explore different domain. So he's not like John Grisham who only writes about the legal world for example.
My favourite book by him is Lost World. Was the first one I read and it completely blew me away. But that's also mybe because i've always been interestes in biology and evolution theories. You should definitely check that one out. It's totally different from the movie (they changed a lot of things)

I also write movie reviews sometimes but they're not good ones. I just write down what I write about them as I go. If anyone is interested you can read some in my
blog.
(i've also included a link to this website in it )

with all that CGI, it would make sense...

actually you're right. acting in the prequels must be less exciting than acting in the OT. there there were all those creatures walking around, even if they were actually guys in costumes, but it must have been fun.

we know he has some force since at the beginning of ESB in the "snowman" cave he was able to get his sabre with it. now, it is not clear if he used it to cushion his fall, but i think he definitely used it to call Leia. i think he thought of her because instinctively he knew that she has some force too and that she would be able to "hear" him.
