Also, and I mean this seriously, if any fan edits want to include any of Order 66 footage (what we’ve seen any any more to come), they’d have to do something to make the troopers look less real. Otherwise they’d totally stick out. And probably rotoscope any lightsabers, at least when they’re in fast motion when they start to look like sticks.

I don’t mind Kenobi not knowing Vader is alive in principle, but it seems hard to square with how he’s depicted as a big deal and well known.

I’m unsure whether this will end up feeling better as a single feature or miniseries, fan editing-wise, but I plan to also have fun and play with it myself. Been… been a little while to really do that that way. Nothing may come of it, we’ll see.

The only two things that leapt out at me to cut out of a potential fan edit is Leia being chased on Alderaan and the dialogue about Padme between Leia and Ben. (Just to cut it off after, “You remind me of someone.” Let the audience assume it’s in reference to Anakin, and avoid straining continuity with my own fan edit of Episode 3. Also lop off the opening recap to part one.)

Looking forward to some Andorian fun after that trailer.

Yeah, I still feel like it deserves to exist and be made available. Even though I feel Rey Palpatine is the more seamless and presentable option. Not substantively, because they 100% could’ve tweaked things before releasing and have this work out fine, but in terms of conniving a fan edit using what we have to work with.

If it ends up existing, I’ll be happy to include it. But it won’t come from me.

In ROTJ, Vader no longer lifts Palpatine and throws him down the shaft. Instead, he raises a hand and redirects Palpatine’s lightning into his own face until he explodes. (With blood.)

Also, workprint #2 is on its way up now, taking into account feedback so far. It doesn’t change the sequence of scenes surrounding the duel in Kylo’s quarters, but does change the order of the post-Acho-To scenes.

Use an AI voice clone to have Finn say to D-O, “What’s your story, roundy?” (Instead of, “So, where you from?”)

Might be the power of suggestion, but Hayden looks more like Sebastian Shaw nowadays.

You’re saying that you see Rey’s moment post-hangar as her realizing that when she completes the necessary, galaxy-saving mission they’re on she’ll be corrupted in the process and become evil? I guess that’s a fair read, but isn’t fed to the audience real clearly.

Sherlock, I’ll try the order of scenes on the destroyer you suggest and see how it plays. Same surrounding Ach-To.

I did not apply LUTs to this workprint, as I have to do that last. But don’t worry, it’ll look the same as the regular version. Also, I don’t actually have a fixed version of that one shot from poppa. If he does send me one I’ll use it but otherwise I’m not bothered by it.

And editing these subtitles is going to be glorious fun with how haphazard and jumping all around I’ve handled this…
