Tmpgenc says the avs is an "illegal stream format" when I try to open it. Is there another program I can use to do this?

I think I follow pretty well so far... but how to I open my avs file in Tmpgenc Plus? This is the only stumbling block so far.

Does anyone have an NTSC DVD copy of the '97 SE version of the Star Wars Trilogy in their posession? I can’t find any torrents, and I think dark_jedi took down all his LD torrents. I would be willing to trade with a copy of my prequel edits, or any other DVDs I have.
I have a PAL copy from the “canal” recordings already, so that’s not what I’m looking for.

Reason I need them is to try a “De-SE” project that won’t require ANY footage from the '04 DVDs, thereby removing all the terrible mistakes and color boosting. Even so, It’d be useful in other editing projects I might try.

Yes, ROTJ shot up significantly and so it souldn't be long before I can seed it.

ESB still has 12 hours ETA, and doing fairly well. ANH looks like a long road still. And I'll seed this as long as I can, as often as I can.

Are you planning on adding in Vader yelling "Noooooo" from ROTS when Luke slips and falls at the end, as well as adding in Luke's scream?

Seriously though, how's progress coming? I'm holding off my tampering with ESB until you're finished. I'm glad I did for ANH too.

ANH is really slow. I'm at 11%, downloading at 2 kb/s at best.

I think I'll stick with the "Reinventing the Wheel" set instead of the new DVDs.
They look pretty good even for laserdisc, compareable to the new DVDs, are anamorphic, and are not $90. Even if the picture isn't quite as good, it's darn near close, and anamorphic already!

I'm very dissapointed in Lucasfilm for this poor release, so I'm not shelling out $60-100 for them when I have something just as good or better.

I'm downloading them right now, and took a little peek at the video quality from short burts of video it's already downloaded.

And I must say, it's the best transfer I've seen so far. I don't think I'll spend $90 on the official OOT DVDs when I can live with this, which is about on par with it.

I remember, and downloaded, some short clips from ROTJ from tf.n where someone had added flashes and damage to the victims of Luke's saber on the skiff. Was this your work?

I can re-host them if you would like. But I know of nowhere to find the Darth Maul clip.

^In the Death Star thing, they changed a miniscule part of the frame from English to Aurebesh, Editous. I can't really see it, so I had no idea.
I thought the only written English in the movie was on the tractor beam.

Nope. Here's the caption under that slide:

The original 1977 version of this shot suffered poor image quality from repeated optical compositing to obscure the wheels of the landspeeder with a hand-animated haze.
