Way ahead of you; I went ahead and redid Ep3’s crawl when I did Ep2’s. 😃
Way ahead of you; I went ahead and redid Ep3’s crawl when I did Ep2’s. 😃
I’ll be sure to transcode using other means for 2 and 3, then. Thanks for your help.
I will probably need to fix the 720p encode of Ep1 and reupload, but I’ll worry about getting 2 and 3 out first.
I noticed what seems like a weird audio glitch. Can anyone confirm that the dialogue only seems to come from the Right side during the reinserted ‘dawn before the race’ scene?
JEDIT: It appears it’s just happening in the 720p version, most likely as a result of transcoding it to AAC.
Yes, we wish you the best. Sincerely hoping you find stable footing with a job you can rely on.

what do you do where you cannot get the music out of the way/replace it? Does the music then dictate what you can or can’t convincingly do, edit-wise?
Yes.

I imagine it only appears to be seamless
This.
This isn’t exactly how it’s going to look, but it’s been fixed!
Huh. Well… sure! I’ll see if I can’t find a more authentic font. “LABYRINTH OF EVIL” looks A-OK to me, so I won’t bother redoing that one.
And… wow… thanks for the catch on this one. This… this is what it’s all about.
JEDIT: For comparison:
This is the greatest YouTube clip of all time. It’s everything I love about these edits.
I agree. Milk and cookies shot out of my nose!
Something should be done about Ben not recognizing R2 in ANH. Maybe you could drop in Ewan Mcgreggor’s line, “Great, R2!” as Luke wakes up and he comes out from his hiding spot.
If I could interject with a similar question, which edits for each film do you prefer from different editors?
For example, someone may like Seciors’ TPM, L8wrtr’s AOTC, and Kerr’s ROTS.
If I hadn’t done my own, I’d like the idea of each film having a different fan editor.
No, just the DVD and iTunes that FE.org member OnlyOneKenobi did in 2013. I don’t know Photoshop or other serious image editing software, but perhaps someone could modify it by thinning the spine and swapping the DVD logo for BluRay.
Also, that’s a pretty cool gift you’re preparing!
I never was a fan of that little bit with Qui-Gon; it’s super obvious they didn’t have Liam Neeson involved. They use a repeat of “Anakin” twice, and some other voice yelling “Nooooo!”
Even so, moving up the yells would detract from the abbreviated slaughter scene, IMHO. I don’t feel the need to include the v/o, and it’d be awkward to implement.
So… nah. But thanks for the suggestion, worded amusingly as always.
That’s the spirit!
Maybe we should just all agree that it could have been flat. Perhaps it even used to be.
Neil Degrasse Tyson is illuminati.
THANK YOU
I know it’s not flat. I know the reasons. What I still don’t know is WHY.
But why?
No, no, I’m not asking why we know it’s not flat. I’m asking why it isn’t flat.
I get that it’s not, but it sorta seems like maybe it is. So… why isn’t it?
I just applied a broad setting to the whole film. I compared various scenes to KK650’s version, but didn’t go as strong. Mostly tuned down the reds.
Towne32 is right. The upscaling is just for the deleted scenes. They will never look as good as the rest of the film no matter what we could possibly do, but they blend in better than the flat upscale I had used before.
And I’m probably going to use the BluRay for Episode III, since to my eyes it looks pretty good and won’t have any encoding mistakes that I might not spot from schorman’s V1. Episode II on the other hand looks waaaaay better than the BluRay, so I’ll use schorman no matter what mistakes might be there. Episode I was the BluRay color corrected similarly to KK650 (though not as far), and with added grain to counter the overuse of DVNR.
From an out-of-universe point of view, the clear intention of the scene is to lead into Luke revealing their relationship. Anything other than their mutual birth mother is incoherent. It’s a fantasy film, not found footage.
We all know.
