Me too.
Me too.
Both versions have “Bring my shuttle,” since in the SE the very next shot continues the musical score with a new establishing shot of his shuttle on the landing platform.
Similarly, neither version has Luke’s lightsaber deactivation sound effect as he flees the wampa, under the justification that including the OOT audio here is a natural function of using it for the scene as a whole.
Now availalbe! You can find them on the 'spleen, and via a direct download link on the /r/Fanedits subreddit. Thanks to Ash for encoding DTS tracks for us. 😃
I’m not sure either, but I’d like to see it tried.
Funny illustration of why I tried to downplay Obi-Wan’s familiarity with R2, and removing all instances of him using his name.
DJ pops up as the boy stares at the stars while the Force theme swells, to close out the film with a, “Th-th-th-that’s all, folks!”
Will the space Tesla still be timeline in 2046?
(Head canon is that 3PO was built over 100 years BBY and Anakin found him all torn apart and fixed him up.)
I think it’s more or less the current canon.
What’s the source of that? Wasn’t that an old Infinities thing?
Well, the leadup to that shot. The transition points is right before Han says, “Yes, I bet you have” and right before Greedo bonks his head on the table. Except the rear channels, which were able to remain 1997 SE and be briefly crossfaded to address sync.
Yeah, V5 is not out yet. It’s in progress, and is intended as FINAL.
About Threepio saying “Master Anakin,” that’s fine. It’s just that 3PO was “built by” Anakin that I tried to take the emphasis off of. (Head canon is that 3PO was built over 100 years BBY and Anakin found him all torn apart and fixed him up.)
About the crawl. I took a glance at the OT opening STAR WARS logos while I am exporting my GOUT-synced SE audio.
Turns out that ANH and ESB’s logos begin at about the same place Ridley’s (and therefore my PT and TFA edits) crawls do, and ROTJ is the only one of the OT films that begins with the logo closer to the camera as the prequels do.
TFA appears to be something like halfway between. Obviously can’t check TLJ right now.
So, there’s that. 😃
Got them all encoded, and ChainsawAsh will be providing DTS encodes as well.
The plan is to release them as DTS, 448kbps 5.1 AC3, and 256kbps 2.0 AC3 to suite people’s various needs.
When Han shoots Greedo, it sounds like the audio shifts slightly, but it is like that in the 1997 mix itself. I’ve vetted the files, and everything seems to be good. I look forward to listening to these next Fall before Episode 9, probably. I’ll let you all know once these are up.
That could certainly work. I’ll have to entertain that thought for a while, if this project ever actually becomes a thing again.
This could be enforced by a dubbed medic
It’s this all over again! lol
I see where you’re coming from, but I prefer it the way it is already. I don’t want every crawl to begin with “It is a quick sentence in the galaxy.” I know ANH and ESB did it that way, as does my Ep1 and Ep3, but I think it’s good to have one of the three prequel crawls NOT do that.
Quick dumb thing: At some point as Obi-Wan is explaining to Luke that his twin sister was hidden, Luke interjects, “We got separated,” prompting Obi-Wan to abruptly pause and stare him down for a moment before continuing.
Luke can wear it when he appears on Crait!
Ridley does. Thanks for clarifying about the crawl; there were some style choices that I didn’t even realize myself. I love the attention to detail. I did notice the STAR WARS logo not being quite as close to the camera, though didn’t say anything; I’m glad to hear that it was intentional.
And about the necklace on Alderaan. That’d really be the capstone for me, even if it is only visible for a handful of frames, given the framing of the shot. Now if we could just add it to a given scene or two of TLJ on Leia to really bring it all together, lol. (Would fit in with TLJ since it isn’t afraid of the prequels, maybe dangling in space while she is floating, with the excuse that outside of that scene gravity keeps it out of sight. I can’t picture how her clothes looked in that scene… Okay, now leaving the crazy idea department.)
Encoding Episode 1 right now, with 2 and 3 to follow once Ridley completes his work. I can’t upload it from where I am and will be for a few weeks, so it won’t be super imminent.
Yeah, I’m not crazy about that deleted scene, especially given the shape it’s in. Best of luck to anyone who wants to try to incorporate it, but I’m not your guy for it.
We can mash up every possible combination of Jake Lloyd, Hayden Christensen, and Sebastian Shaw in each of their respective appearances. Make ROTJ Jabba look like 1997 ANH:SE Jabba. Have James Earl Jones’ Vader mutter “wizard” to himself as Luke evades his TIE in the Death Star trench. Map Tarkin’s face onto itself for ANH to match the uncanny CGI Rogue One version.
Hmm… I should throw in one more. Let’s say… recast Obi-Wan’s ghost to be Ewan McGregor throughout ESB and ROTJ.
All these things would be tons of fun, but I don’t really see any practical use for this technology for Star Wars at this point in time, at least visually. None that I would actually want to be included in a real project, though I would love to see any of the above as mockups. There’s more potential in the audio department; that could yield some very useful results for edits.
It’s Ridley’s TFA crawl, but Ep1 is a little more orange and Ep3 is a little more yellow. Just because.
And the necklace scene is indeed back in.

(What I Should Have Put In The End Credits If I Had Modified Them)
I’m not sure. I just remember that Octorox did it.
My favorite way to use TPM as a prologue is what Octorox did:
Open with logos and “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” Right when it’d normally cut to the STAR WARS logo, instead cut to the wide shot of the duel of the fates (the beginning of the scene where Maul kicks Obi-Wan a few shots in). Throughout the duel, such as when Qui-Gon sits to meditate and when Obi-Wan is trapped behind the laser walls, we flashback to the key events of TPM centering on finding Anakin.
…Hayden in the ROTJ unmasking scene?
dodges tomatoes
I’d be curious to see that mocked up. Just curious. I wonder how it’d look to map Hayden’s face over Shaw’s for the ghost scene, too. Better? It’d be hard not for it to be.
Seems like a fun thing to play with.
