I can’t promise I’ll watch the entire thing (because I can be merciful to myself sometimes), but I’d be up for a looksee.

I don’t think Luke should ignite his green lightsaber in his version of the story of confronting Ben in his hut.

When Kylo tells the story, Luke has his saber ignited and ready to land a maniacal blow. But, when Luke sets the record straight, I think it would have been more effective to show him holding the hilt, but fall short of actually igniting it.

That being said, it’s probably outside the realm of possibility to actually make it that way. It sure would have made that scene less off-putting without sacrificing its purpose.

Yes, of course. Ep2 soon and a fixed Ep3 after that. Encoding takes a while.

At the risk of getting nuts, if Ridley’s eyes could be contrived to appear to be gazing slightly downward as she looks back where Luke had been standing, that would help sell it.

The R2 one occurred to me as well. Shouldn’t be hard to do.

I doubt I’ll be editing anything between Luke’s arrival on Crait and his death.

I was hoping to see Luke ‘ignite the green’ and all that, but that was under my assumption that Rey would be using the blue one. When they team up to go kick ass, as obviously what was going to be happening in this movie, Luke would naturally be using his trusty old green saber.

However, in the context of the movie that was made, the blue saber is the right choice. The movie begins with him sordidly chucking it over his shoulder, and concludes with him accepting and using it.

Thanks, AbramPT. I think I’m pretty much in agreement with you. I was very pleasantly surprised at the turnout for the deleted scenes this time around. I was only able to view them on my phone so far but most of what I’d hope to try reincorporating had apparently finished score and effects.

Removed the flute run at the beginning that’s the same as ANH. Replaced with the start of the First Order theme cut from TFA.
Removed Kylo Ren’s theme when the First Order arrives at D’Qar because Kylo Ren is not present. Replaced with First Order leitmotif from the end of “Main Title and Attack on the Jakku Village” from TFA.
Tone down the humor in spots where it doesn’t fit tonally, e.g. Poe and Hux prank call and the Ach-To nun getting hit with the rock are both gone.
Cut Leia slapping Poe.
Cut the green milk scene from Rey following Luke montage.
Trimmed Canto Bight and cut Fathier chase. Finn and Rose join DJ after he propositions them in the cell.
Cut Leia floating way above the force-field of the ship to make her flying more believable. (I tried to cut it, but it really is needed for the film to make sense. Sorry.)
Cut Holdo and Leia scene.
Trim Finn’s fake-out sacrifice so that it doesn’t give you a chance to root for him to go for it.
Moved Canto Bight kids telling the legend of Luke Skywalker to overlay Luke’s death. It’s really beautiful and poignant, trust me. This also allows the film to end with the last of the Resistance on the Falcon.***

I’ve seen a few of the deleted scenes, though it doesn’t look like they are available in full anywhere yet. So far, as long as the quality is as presentable as it seems it will be, I’d like to include Rey’s third lesson and BB8 showing Finn his recording of the end of TFA.

Noodle_flinger is at it again, already posting a rough cut on Reddit. I took a look, and there’s a few good ideas I’ll likely use for this project. The best one is trimming down Finn’s suicide run; it’s amazing how this helps subvert RJ’s subversion of expectations somewhat, and keep the hypothetical first-time audience from getting to the point where they are fully invested in saying goodbye to Finn in that moment.

I cannot begin editing TLJ until the BluRay is released, for obvious reasons involving linear cause and effect throughout the progression of time in one direction. But, I won’t begin work until I’m 100% finished getting the prequel trilogy output, vetted, and distributed.

It was supposed to be Coruscant, but it isn’t present in the current version.
And the lightsaber will not be changed. It is important that it’s the blue one, because Luke finally embraces using it to help the galaxy, reversing his refusal at the beginning of the movie.

I hope to remove that line, not for that reason, but as an effort to make the opening scene NOT feel like an SNL parody.

I’ll have to see once I get situated with the movie and sufficient time and brainpower for it. We’ll see what’s possible.

I’m afraid these edits are hard locked the way they currently are. I can imagine that idea being nice, but the other scenes that make up the ending of the movie flow into each other, so I don’t think it’s necessary.

Yeah, I don’t see those ideas being feasible. I do rather like, in principle at least, the idea of Luke walking past Rey as she holds out the saber.

I just uploaded COD to Google Drive, though I had to do so as a zip archive. Luckily, and much easier than with a .dlc, you simply need to go to the folder, download it in one fell swoop and extract. Links can be found on that same Reddit post as before.
II and III will come later, as they are not encoded yet.

I don’t think it’s needed in Ep2, and it’d take considerably
more work. I’m happy with this subtly inclusion.
