Yes, thanks for doing this. It really seems like a great deal of effort.

SC38 was great, as a stand-alone fun project. But it would have been ludicrous to have turned up in a Special Edition of the film itself.
I wasn’t thrilled with it either and completely understand.
Look out for a PM with the scene, hopefully later today. (I’ve already gotten pulled into the rest of life for now!)
At any rate, should you wish to tinker further with it I could provide the TLJ scene in ProRes, and bake your work back into a version of TLJ that can be exported.
What do you think about this?

Alright, I’ll bite.
650m domestic, 875m international. 1.525 billion worldwide.
My guess: 649,999,999 domestic, 874,999,999 international, and 1,524,999,999 worldwide.
What can I say; I want to win!
Perhaps I missed something, but what do you mean by finding Luke gone? I assumed TLJ would show Rey arriving at the island and blend into Luke receiving the saber.
I suppose if that’s all I can do it would serve the purpose of temporary compatibility for a pre-IX viewing.
I might be able to try something with this today.
Hell, I could throw that together for you if it’d help. I’ve already got it all ripped and laying around at the moment.
I guess $1 more than DrDre.
There’s a dead stormtrooper revealed as Finn stands up, fairly close to camera and only viewed from one angle. A 2D image could probably be manipulated to take its place to serve as a dead Phasma. She’d even be in about the right place based on where the characters were before the kaboom.
I might even go for this change in the post-IX revision of my TLJ edit, if Phasma can be featured like this. Finn would make his character-arc-defining resolution away from nihilism/hiding by telling DJ, “you’re wrong,” then confirm it by going “where [they] belong.”
I am Groot.
No, you’re not.
We forget what it’s like to see a Star Wars film we haven’t already committed to memory. I was guilty of the music comment, and I was so wrong.
Some really great clips in here lately. Excellent work.
Very well done! Avoids the ‘platforms remaining stationary on a brisk lava flow’ and jumping on tiny (HOT) metal robots.
Disposing of Phasma in this way could be viewed as consistent with TLJ’s attitude of taking the piss out of things introduced in TFA, and would be about on the level of noticing that the Jedi texts were onboard the Falcon at the end (something I failed to see my second and third viewings despite knowing it was there).
Good point. If it’s in a stationary orbit, like our moon, could simulating a slight camera move be enhanced by slightly shifting the background Endor element at the same time? (To subtly imply the rotation of the DS we see is the result of the camera moving.)
JEDIT: Hell, for all I know Ady will just somehow depict the DS as rotating and show its unfinished side head-on sometimes.
Would it be possible to add a Phasma corpse or dislocated/damaged helmet close to Finn as he comes to after Holdo’s kamikaze maneuver?
Because once I edited the listing to reflect V6, they have said ‘pending moderation’ since. I alerted [someone in an admin role] about a week ago.
I feel your pain.
I do t think there is, but perhaps a mod can merge these threads.
Your project looks fresh, by the way. 😃
No need for yet another thread. Please contain updates to this project to its original thread.
Here’s the color grade for Bail’s apartment. I start out trying to roughly match the hue, though unfortunately not cloud coverage, of the prior scene. As the scene goes on, it gradually crossfades to a rough match of the following scene.
Last night I dreamed that it was suddenly revealed that the CGI Jabba the Hutt from the Special Edition was the brainchild of Rian Johnson, causing riots in the streets.
I’ve decided to go with Order B, and to have the ‘alternate ending’ version be just that: the same edit up to a point with a different ending. If I shift the nightmare to where it features in ROTS, it’s no longer LOE, and one may as well go for L8wrtr’s, Don’s, or other edits of the movie.
I’ve applied some color correction to Bail’s apartment, to place it in the late afternoon. The only issue with this is it makes that one senator who clearly missed something that was “posted this morning” seem slack.
I also added an easter egg that I doubt anybody will ever find. The only hint I will give us that it had something to do with text.
