I just don’t picture it working well. It feels rather different than 2019’s TROS.

If the TIEs don’t follow, it makes the “lightspeed skipping” references later sound like Poe was just doing something stupid for no reason.
Well, here’s the original shot for the lightspeed skipping that should be extended. If anyone wants to take a stab at it, I’d be grateful.

And, I’ll update the OP once in a while, adding little check marks ✅ to changes I’ve completed. (This doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t revisit these things.)
Lol, I might just have to bring the volume down on that one somewhat. 😄
But you can’t hate it because it’s from the EU!
Hey, if people from this forum wish to send me clips of their voice calling out, “Skywalker!” or “For Skywalker” or whatever else sounds good to that effect, I can see how many I can work in.
And there should, I feel, be at least one speaking gibberish. Like “Ooba dooba Skywalker!”
Oh, I see. Well, maybe we should recruit this guy! Lol
I think JJ was too heavily biased to properly carry forward what Rian did in TLJ.
Given the way the scene plays out, I don’t intuit a great deal of value in adding several people checking in by name. I may, however, want to add a few miscellaneous exclamations of “Skywalker!” at some point to tie into that part of the story.
And I don’t think the battle over Coruscant theme fits over the scene better than what was there originally.
Ben looks surprisingly good. could you perhaps do a version with only him added?
I’m not sure the footage of Anakin used is a slam dunk. Ideally he’d have the generic Jedi robes he wears in ROTJ. Hell, while I’m dreaming, a 30% morph into Sebastian Shaw would be even cooler if it worked at all.
PM sent.
I’m planning to keep the victory celebration montage in ROTJ, and not using any of it for TROS.
One request for the moment. If I can send the clip, could someone extend the shot in which the Falcon jumps into hyperspace after smashing through the ice wall? Enough to allow for a halfway satisfying moment to feel like an ending and during which to wipe either to Rey training or whatever other scene ends up after it. If you can get it at least a couple seconds, I would be able to make a cut where it ends up being best.
I’d like to remove the TIEs but I need to keep them due to the references to lightspeed skipping that can’t really be removed. If we see the TIEs follow them, we can easily assume Poe pulled some shenanigans offscreen. Presumably something that made some sense besides teleporting across time and space, Rick and Morty style.
Luke vanishes as soon as he notices Rey has found him. He then assumes the form of a porg who speaks to her telepathically in the voice of JJ Abrams, using miscellaneous audio clips from bonus materials and press junkets.
Looking out over this project like

I felt justified in finding rips due to having a Disney+ subscription, and will rip the physical disc once I can get it. No timetable with what’s been going on; we’ll see.
That’s some nice work and mockup, but I’m not sold on putting the idea in a finished edit. It’d have to be almost subliminal, I think.

A NEW THREAD
I was willing to put up with JJ Abram’s bullshit for one movie, to get things going. Bringing him back was a mistake, driven by a prior mistake of not allowing the film to be postponed in light of Carrie’s passing and/or whatever was wrong with Trevorrow.
Palpatine returning was poooooooop.

(Just kidding)
There’s definitely an investment on the front end. 😕
Are you using my lossless audio output?
Just kidding. But it’s always been a difference between films, not something on Ridley’s end.
I don’t think I would have that kind of time. I just looked at the resultant video file, and checked every transition point between multiple clips.
Well, then I like it. Intentional throwback or not.
