SPACE MADNESS
SPACE MADNESS
Just have Palpatine’s head explode or fall off during his first scene.
While I am not committing to doing another revision of ANH, I jotted down a dream list of what I’d like to tweak further if I did.
I still think the current version of ANH is good, and most of these ideas probably couldn’t really be done anyway. But I have all my changes saved as ProRes files so it would be relatively easy to get it loaded again.
I can hardly tell anything was done, in that it’s very subtle. I’m okay with that, by the way. Whenever you’re happy with it let me know and I’ll include it! (No rush; you’ll end up waiting on me in the end.)
Pretty good!
Ren is insecure about the (reasons for wearing the) masks and calls attention to what is better left alone.
Too bad, in my version his head explodes during the victory celebration.
Maybe you’re remembering Darth Editous’ version?
And the squeaky wheel scene was there, but the supplemental material contained several more shots. The film version goes from Poe and Zorri to the shot where Rey smirks at DO while greasing him up.
Kylo Ren survives the film. Final scene shows him re-forging his mask again.
Guerilla editing. It’s on a pillow. Sad that my computer desk has to be in a corner of the living room, but we do what we gotta do to make it through each day. Don’t have kids so close together!
But yeah, the scene is sound, but needs those two shots to be given some magic.
And I’ll match up the music and play with extending it whenever I get a chance.
Using the elements provided by LILLIAN, here’s the current shape of the ‘squeaky wheel’ moment. There’s an ugly shot that I hope to improve upon, and which can’t remain as is anyway because the widescreen matte is out of place. The AOTC score fades out over the scene rather than ending at a non-arbitrary point, which may be all right. Rey’s “okay” is culled from TLJ.
It ain’t much, but I was lucky to carve out even 25 minutes this weekend to sit down at my computer at all. (Believe it or not, I kneel at my computer nowadays because the baby wall and chair placement make it difficult to hop up instantly as I almost always need to be ready to do. Fan editing hurts my knees now.)
Being somebody’s biological child isn’t a good explanation for her talents or messiah-ship. I agree that some sort of thematic connection for this would have been nice, but being daughter or so and so is totally flat.
I feel positively about how the VHS and DVD boxes farted when you closed them right.
Not a problem; we are vigilant about that kind of stuff, for our own good.
Presumably, most people are going to use a primary source much subsequent to the DVD release of the prequels, and may not have access to those deleted scenes. Besides, people are requesting processed versions of them to look better in upscaled high definition.
However, asking for material that should have been included with the Blu-ray of a current film implies that you may be working from something else.
I hate to be so negative, but I can’t help but agree.
But, if anyone would ever want to recreate them and use the lossless audio output, feel free. I don’t own this stuff.
Yeah, that and the DVD-sourced deleted scenes (not to mention not wanting to anymore) relegate this to glorious 1080p HD.
Adywan, I’m so sorry.
If pseudo-impaling Luke wouldn’t be too crowded, I feel like Luke’s got to haunt him in some way.
But these are wonderful, in any edit. It helps the movie do what it wants to do.

Very nice!
Hell to the fuck yeah
Will do. If we’re very lucky is can over the weekend but I really can’t be sure. I’ve got three plates full, I feel like.
The colors already look much better!
Hmm, interesting musical connection. They used video game music for the speeder chase?
I like the DO scene! Did you do audio in 5.1? Could you perhaps make the audio assets available independently, for me to ensure it fits together with the rest of the movie? I might play with the music further or what have you.
Yeah, probably. I guess it’s a “fix” of the SE.
