lol, 3PO just asking “do you have any Chewie?”

I’m tempted to get excited about actually seeing something substantially helpful for this movie. (Not just that idea but in general.)
No idea.
You’ll just have to imagine a gif for this one:
When you open your bank account and see your tax refund.
Palpatine being rejuvenated by the dyad, eyes brightening
Eh… I don’t really imagine removing it. It’s… fine. I buy JJ intended that to be gently hinted at in TFA, but TLJ dropped it without a trace. So… this might be a reasonable split of the difference. I’m glad they didn’t have him using telekinetic powers or anything, though. Just… feelings.
It’s present in my ProRes master file. So, rather than going through several hoops to get the source fresh, I just did a crappy shape mask to copy a different portion of the frame. Looks seamless, and took hardly any time at all.
Hmm, I have no idea what that’d be. My only guess is that when I darken the shot maybe it appears when it otherwise would have blended in. Is it just a frame or two?
Edit: nope, whole shot. Weird. I’ll make sure it’s not there this time; thank you!
Yeah.
Exporting a candidate through Compressor 4. 😃
I like that! At first I wondered if ‘Anakin vs. Obi-Wan’ was a good fit but it seems appropriate. The music drop off helps accent Leia cutting in.
Is there unused score on the soundtrack that was originally meant for this duel?
I’m going to export a few clips from 7 to use, since it’d be unnecessarily tricky to recreate certain things. I’m exporting just the Ach To scene from TFA and its gonna take 8 hours.
I think it’d be very doable to gently extend the “squeaky wheel” bit. Would just need the puppetry equipment either painted out or just cropped.
Without bonafide deleted scenes I wouldn’t want to eclipse Palpatine having the first line.
Ah, I see, thank you.
Seems promising so far. I’m going through carefully, clip by clip, reapplying settings and filters. The order of shots and clips seems to be mostly sound, though some are sporadically missing. All in all, should at least be possible to export, even though it’ll take some work. I don’t know what happened with FCP7 when I upgraded to a SSD, but the exports were going exponentially slowly.
No, by ALL means, keep it up. You’re the civilian forces that show up at the end of the battle.
Just spent $20 in the Mac App Store to get ‘SendToX’ to attempt to migrate existing FCP7 projects over to FCPX, at least to get things exported I’ve done so far. I guess I’ll almost have to use FCPX going forward, even if I want to occasionally dip into 7 to do tricky audio stuff.
No guarantees. Wish me luck.
Seems to work pretty well. I wish I had more time and quiet to be able to give more feedback for the moment.
Hmmm, that’d probably be a bit much.
While I like that moment, I’ll admit the moment works totally fine without it.
It seems to only be using one core. Can’t be helped. I’ll just be patient and leave it alone. But it puts me further from doing much with TROS.
I do like how subtle, even subliminal, it is.
Wonderful! Thanks for doing that.
InitAbsolute, thanks for understanding. I’d say stand by and check in once in a while because I’m sure we will have ideas that may depend upon some FX work.
And, Chase, that’s pretty cool! It’s subtle. And almost for that reason alone, why not go with it?
We will see. Thanks for the camaraderie. For now I’ll just export chunks at a time into ProRes, and then I can use FCPX to presumably encode it easily from that point. Just might take a while.
BUT, that ought to be it for all except 6 and 9.
