Hmmm… Leading into the credits may be the tricky part. Just playing with it in my head, I have an idea but I can’t think how to express what I mean without humming. (Can’t do that, with multiple sleeping family members and myself about to join them in sleepybyland…)

I wouldn’t want to remove the ghosts, myself. If anything adding Ben would be nice. (Even if he’s goofy! It’s okay for him to be.)

It’s not much, but I finally got to sit down long enough to mix the elements snooker sent me for the little Ewok scene into 5.1 and blend it into the new context.

Yeah, that’d have been interesting and presumably her body wouldn’t have still been around.

I put nothing past all of us, of course.

I’d prefer not to include Leia with the ghosts. Her body is still sitting on Jungleworld, but I think we can get away with just hearing her voice because that seems to come first, as with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. Kinda/sorta. Plus her appearance at the end is that much nicer to see.

Noah, I honestly haven’t had the time to do anything with that at all. If it fits in nicely, I think an underplayed, nonchoral allusion to DOTF would be cool for the duel, but not the whole piece, I don’t think. I don’t want to use Anakin vs Obi-Wan music either, as that seems paired closely with just that confrontation.

And let me just say, I’m really happy this community can come together around this. My edits would always have been garbage without you all, and I look forward to a sort of ‘Hal9000 Presents…’ final entry.

One little nitpick: Luke looks like he is finished walking into position in the first shot, whereas the other three are standing firm.

I wonder if it might help just a little to mirror Anakin since he’s gazing to the right whereas Rey (and therefore sort of the ghosts) are established as being right of Palpatine.

The shot of Anakin is pretty static, perhaps the face aging could be done with a still or two using key frames. If so, I wonder what it’d be like to blend him with a young Sebastian Shaw (because there’ll be more footage to work with) and then aging that.

Easy for me to say, of course.

Have you though of putting some version of Rey’s theme instead? Not the full theme, but some snippets of it, like that transition between the Force and Rey’s motifs. If you plan to end the scene with a fade to black, maybe the peaceful version of the SW main theme that plays at the end of the track could could fit better instead of a more bombastic piece, as it has much of a “final farewell” feel to it.

Nice idea! That would be a very nice way to end it. It sounds like if I can’t play with the audio or get it right, Dominic certainly will. 😉

This is some great stuff, I think if you made them seem more in the distance (maybe add some blur for distance) and only appear with the lightning strikes and then disappear in the shadows, it would sell the effect better

If I remember correctly it didn’t match his tone or the environment. I’d love to be proven wrong!

My version would have CGI Yoda, but would use CPY for just the shot where he says, “leads to suffering.”

It doesn’t sound right, sadly. Listening with headphones at least, it sounds obviously added later.

Hmm, I’ll give that a try next time I find myself in front of my computer, whenever that is.

Personally, I prefer Dominic’s version of the initial vision. And I’m not sold on the snake being frightened by her inner darkness, either the idea or how effective it’s possible to get it to be.

That’d probably make more sense. My idea was to imply that tracking Snoke’s miscellaneous stuff would lead him to Palpatine, like following a marionette’s strings to its animator.
But that’s hard to get across, and doesn’t make immediate sense as Kylo rummages through Darth Vader’s sock drawer.

Poppasketti, that audio sounded great! It’ll do as a minimum but it isn’t quite perfect. In other words, it’s already better enough to be worth using, even if that’s as far as it can go.

And Jonh, could you post a screencap of just Anakin’s face from that clip? It’ll be a while before I’m at a real computer and I can’t zoom in! But the clip’s good! When I say subliminal, though, I mean the kind of thing some fans would miss and have to go see again with eyes peeled in order to spot. Maybe Chase’s approach would be better, with a subtle effect implying rather than showing.

I’m with Ash, that’d be a reasonable de facto go-to ‘regular’ version.

I think Anakin ought to be included, personally. Before the movie came out, I wondered whether Hayden could have been given a partial morph into Shaw, but that might work for such a slight glimmer of an appearance.

That looks very good, though I question including it in a final product.
Assuming you’re planning to complete it for it’s own sake regardless, perhaps a super low opacity version to be almost subliminal could be cool.
