I just read that the novelization describes 3PO’s prequel-era memories were also restored when R2 fixes him back up.

While it’s not half as touching as it would have been to hear snippets of R2 bringing him back up to speed through telling him their story, i am in favor of implying this in an edit. But it needs to make sense and not feel wrong.

That’d have been a really interesting story to have gone with. I think you’re spot on about continuing the meta-commentary, for sure.

It’d be a huge feat, though.
