Yeah it may have to do with Vimeo downmixing my uploaded 5.1 mix.
Yeah it may have to do with Vimeo downmixing my uploaded 5.1 mix.
The previous one I posted?
Ugh, can we just get a short deleted scene of Lando mentioning having a daughter?
Here’s that clip for you: https://vimeo.com/429010558
Lol, yeah, makes sense. I wondered if maybe it was a typo or something and wasn’t sure what you meant.
“I’m mad about my flat.”
Thanks to axlanian, here’s the intended-as-final version of the arrival of the civilian fleet. Awesome to have so many of you contribute, and it makes for a wonderful fan editing moment.
I’m not familiar with Cowboy Bebop beyond a fun ‘Cosby Bebop’ YTMND from back in the day.
But this should be fun to watch, maybe all the more, when finished. I love the creativity. 😃
Hal, may I get a pm too please?
PM sent.
No, I know! Lol
What do you mean by tick scenes, though?
I’m waiting for LILLIAN to send me the Mustafar footage and foley so I can put that together.
Dominic is going to send me his flashbacks once he’s got them where he’s happy with them and halfway confident they’ll be the final versions.
DarthYCey sent me a better way to handle the lightspeed skipping skip, but I’m holding out on giving it the check mark in case someone is interested in painting Klaud out of two shots. (Actually, maybe Klaud can be added to the night briefing scene in order to have a character deliver subtitled dialogue. Probably not; I don’t think there’s usable footage with his mouth moving unless from behind the scenes.)
I can post a clip of the Rey and Leia scene. I remember that I joined all channels except center somewhere just once, from the beginning to the end, rather than jumping around, adding the left and right channels to center to bridge, then re-adding center’s dialogue. If you do like it better I can send you the raw audio stems even.
Has jonh finished the hair already? I thought he was still working on that.
No worries, and too bad about that, but the prime directive must be upheld.
The only alien in that scene is Ackbar Jr., and it wouldn’t feel right to subtitle him. Anyone have any other ideas? Or want to comp in anything else?
This is a long shot, but does anyone know of 3PO dialogue speaking about a rumored or hidden imperial fleet?
I don’t get the appeal of these.
Just updated the OP. Almost everything without the check mark ✅ next to it involves things needed from other people.
It’s coming together, which is nice to see. And a pretty short time since the BR came out, too.
I hope I’m not forgetting anything or missing any good ideas others may have heard about or had. (“Good” including being a good fit for this project, that’s not to say any idea I didn’t go with isn’t necessarily good.)
One thing I know we tossed around is trying to imply that the Final Order is a stashed fleet from the days of the Empire. In the current cut of the movie, we don’t ever see inside one until the First Order people go to Exegol. One would probably just assume these clearly imperial star destroyers to be leftover from the Empire anyway, so this just doesn’t contradict that assumption. It’s not at all obvious that they’re a different scale, so that doesn’t matter to me. The weird part is the underbelly cannons that aren’t ever commented on. I would imagine assuming they had been modified, enough to “attack” “all free worlds.” Whether you want to imagine that to mean planet destruction or just something like an orbital bombardment is up to you.
We tried a line for Poe that just didn’t fit, but I wonder if anyone has any other ideas. Subtitled alien closeup during the early Resistance meeting scene? Oolab Puba saying “The rumored lost fleet…”?
No need to apologize; I’m grateful you have put such care into it. That makes the whole project worthwhile right there.
Just wondering, what’s the source of the new Obi-Wan closeup?
That plus making the Death Star prototype (?) have its dish along the equator, matching the stolen plans, would be great to see.

Personally, while I have allowed anybody to send in pretty much anything they wanted to record, I prefer to emphasize names and voices that we came up with ourselves. Ideally, it would be a bunch of fan edit enthusiast inserting themselves into the universe directly.
That’s the best I’ve heard yet!
Fix it if you like to, there’s nothing wrong with that at all.
Darth Jar Jar has always been a joke. One of those tongue-in-cheek theories that is amusing how it can almost sound plausible. But it’d be a terrible idea to put out in a movie for real.
It’d be like Return to Oz having all the munchkins hang themselves at the end of a song.
You convinced me, jonh’s ghost clip is in! 😉
I modeled the audio transition out of the icewall moment after what DarthYcey sent me, and I think it’s an improvement. I’m happy enough with it to leave it alone until I make another pass later on.

The comm chatter really ought to just be in the center channel. It’s not all around the viewer really, just coming through the X-wing’s shitty radio receiver.
But, since there’s so many clips and they overlap each other, we decided spreading them out into the front channels wasn’t too much of a stretch.
The Wookiee sounds all right, that’s cool! Just making sure.
Okay, finally was able to listen with earphones. I agree, it’s awfully noisy. I truly hate not to include a clip from everyone who submitted something, but maybe it’d be better to actually hear what people are saying… That initial mockup had some chatter and calling in, with some boosted to be audible and others less so, but there wasn’t as much sheer content then. Maybe going back to having fewer clips, selecting those that sound the best and making sure to include the ones from people who have contributed to this project the most regardless.
I think I prefer option A overall, but maybe it’s just because it’s closer to the clip I listened to a bunch to do my initial mockup. I do think that the wookiee roar should be a little earlier, unless intended to represent Chewie himself, since it happens as the Falcon swoops into frame.
I do appreciate you tackling the mixing for this, and hope this isn’t a big setback!
Sounds great, axlanian!
And I did try having both say “always,” but it didn’t sound as good as you’d hope since only one is whispering.
