Me too!
Me too!
We’d then be about in the same boat foe the Coruscant shot, wouldn’t we?
No, I don’t plan to move the little montage.
And I don’t have any capability to modify the Naboo clip beyond simple things that a monkey could do. If anyone wants to darken the smoke, apply more layers, or do any other work, I can send you the raw clip as snooker sent it to me.
How’s this?
Lol, I don’t really see a way to. I could make it an inappropriate meta-joke and have the volume on his line decrease noticeably as he says it.
Not now, but I can give that a try and see. Perhaps if I can stretch the portion of the clip prior to the flash to fit, that may be better.
And just so everyone knows, in case you did not… Snooker sent me an updated version of the Naboo shot after seeing workprint #4. Just so everyone is on the same page, here is the most recent clip I have from her, in context:
FWIW, I think it’s just a tad abrupt cutting out Poe’s line about 3PO’s volume control, so I’m going to just leave it alone.
3PO is just a toaster to him. :’(
I currently already have the entire movie edited together with the existing sound, so that’s ready to go unless something compellingly better comes up. I just pitch shifted Kylo’s crackling saber up a little. It only needs to be a subtle effect, so it’s not super audible very often. There was a clip of just the sound a couple pages back, but I don’t have any footage yet to show the whole thing together.
Let THIS particular post be the end of it. No need for further comment.
Luke prominently reclaimed his identity as expressed through that lightsaber at the end of TLJ. And TROS needs for that to be his saber for its story, so I don’t think it’d be a good idea to try to obscure that.
I still don’t really feel it’s necessary to score the arrival of the fleet, and I agree it’s a bit too triumphant for the scene.
And I don’t really care what something says about the length of the Clone Wars. Nothing in the movies states the passage of time except AOTC, anyway. I choose to assume more like 40 years pass between ROTJ and TFA. Why not? Either way, let’s either move the conversation elsewhere or let it alone.
Hal, are you finally including/considering DominicCobb’s idea for rescoring the Final Order revelation with the “Anthem of Evil” track? Or are you keeping the Imperial march?
I’m leaving the Imperial March in order to imply as strongly as I can that these are old imperial ships that were stashed away. (For lack of a way to explicitly state as much.)
I don’t need anyone calling me chunky, even if it was ten years ago.
Just wanted to say, I’d watch this! I would prefer not to change much as far as removing scenes, but I like the other ideas you present in the OP. I second the idea of using classical music that has some symbolic meaning, if esoteric.
I kinda want to watch this movie now; it’s been a while.
To address an idea from Dom’s thread: I will more than likely end up releasing the regular (Rey Palpatine) version before a Rey Nobody version. In case there’s some huge issue that gets glossed over, I’d rather just fix one than two!
Would you consider cutting Poe’s line “Did we ever find his volume control?”. I think 3PO’s new line about an R2 unit works better on it’s own and we’d have one less moment of Poe treating 3PO like trash (specially odd after he just sacrificed himself). Just cut to Finn & Jannah before Poe starts talking.
Honestly it’s bizarre how Poe treats 3PO & D-O compared to his relation to BB-8 in the previous films.
I can see how it plays; I agree in principle.
I haven’t removed the original normal saber sound underneath.
It was probably underwater for something like 6 years, I think.
I probably would’ve named TFA:R differently if I’d foreseen the other two edits existing. Oh, well!
The suffix, I mean, not the film title.
The prequels had a long history of being renamed by the time I did my second set of edits starting in 2013. The sequels did not, and I did not think when I worked on TFA:R that there would be any more. Plus, I like the sequel titles overall much more than the prequel titles.
Only if there’s a LUT for it, but it may introduce unintended effects to shift so radically.
I also intend to apply the main LUT at something like 66% in order to benefit from it overall and hopefully avoid some of its more extreme effects.
So is TROS.
If anyone can find a nice, isolated vibroblade effect I can see about it. As things are presently, I used a pitched-up Kylo saber effect. Sort of sounds like a car engine with something wrong with it.
I’ll probably futz with it a little more at least to make sure, but I agree it’s fine.
It’s too bad there’s not a shot early on that takes a slow second to just let us see the saber ignited. There would have been if the blade were different than it had been in prior movies.
I like them both and am perfectly happy with whichever kewlfish cares to turn in.
None of them were pink OR had a bow.
