That’s a reasonable idea, but my issue within the SW films in their own Platonic realm is that ANH makes a point about TIEs not having hyperdrives, so I’d prefer having something distinct that we do know to have them.

A hallmark of Star Wars is a constantly changing sense of continuity. There’s nothing smooth about it. The EU are nanobots trying to heal somebody constantly being injured in all manner of ways. You can appreciate the effort and do some of it in your own head, but the ST renewed the franchise’s commitment to never planning ahead and constantly retconning everything.
If you get a copy of any new EU books you can find+replace synonyms for blue for purple, glancing at the context as you go.
This is the sort of detail that just doesn’t matter whether it lines up with other stuff.

I just looked into the “”official”” explanation for Snoke, and I guess he is supposed to be his own separate, real person. Removing the vat of pickled Snokes helps make this interpretation more plausible than the theatrical. And I guess Snoke knew they were a dyad but never told Palpatine.
So, eh, I’m fine with leaving this aspect alone other than removing the Snoke vat. Make of it what you will.
I don’t really want to change this about the original. My understanding from TROS is that Snoke was a meat puppet, possibly literally housing Palpatine’s spirit before he went into a clone body sometime between TLJ and TROS. One thing about this that gives me pause is that Snoke seemed to recognize that Rey and Ben are linked. But I guess them being a dyad is some weird technicality aside from this.

I don’t remember whose recordings each was, but as it stands here’s what I’ve implemented:
As Chewie runs off on Pasaana, two KoR say, “Solo’s Wookiee,” and “I get his teeth.” The latter turns his head and it feels like it always was that way.
On Kijimi, the KoR step into frame and the apparent leader says, “Palpatine wants the girl alive. Kill the rest.”
On Exegol, as the KoR step out from around the corner to confront Ben, two say, “Well look who finally made it,” and “Traitor!” The latter is an obvious mirror to Kylo in TFA, highlighting his transformation.
Later, when he pulls the lightsaber out of his ass, a KoR says, “What? How?” And then they all get chopped up, with a few vocalizations that have always been there.
I don’t think these are intrusive, and are 4 out of 6 possible moments for KoR dialogue. (Excluded are “may our bond never again be shattered” during the helmet reforging, and “You betray us for a scavenger” between the other two Exegol lines.)
It almost sounds like a computer voice. In any event, I think I’ll stick with the project results.

And I probably won’t get down to the level of splicing takes together. There’ll only be a few lines used and they’re fine for what they are. And it’s fun to include the results of that project.
I played with them just a little tonight. I don’t think it’d be great to add a line during the mask reforging scene because it distracts from Kylo after his vision.
I like the pasaana lines, and Kijimi’s. I’ve only messed with the first of the three Exegol lines so far but I think they work. I may choose to skip the second of the three. Not sure yet!
I like it how it is in the workprint. It clearly plays like there was a longer message and we’re just hearing the tail end of it. I don’t think adding more of the message would lead to any sort of substantial improvement.

Yeah, it’s pretty choppy as he reduced spacing between sentences. And he used reaction shots that’ll be needed later in the scene. I’d say it’s either what’s in the workprint, which is still what seems best to me, or my recent clip that wedges in another phrase but gets rid of the nice synchronicity of Poe’s exasperation with the message’s conclusion.

Jarbear, thanks for the additional mockup. I do still think and feel that what’s there at present is the best option. It seems cleaner, though still not ideal. I don’t think it’d be a problem for anyone who didn’t know there was more scene there originally, which is the audience that matters. I know this one’s not making everybody happy!
And I will try to increase the grey-ness of Exogol a bit more and make sure it doesn’t bleed unhelpfully into anything else. (Perhaps 66% rather than 50%.)
It’s encouraging that the feedback has been relegated to a few things, some of which I have actually changed.
So… do people prefer Palpatine’s message here to what’s in the workprint? We get one additional line, but lose the impact of the concluding static immediately preceding the crowd gasping and clamoring. Personally, I prefer what’s currently in the workprint. https://vimeo.com/449495094

And Anakin as a ghost at the end would indeed feel extremely fan edit-y. Ben makes sense and belongs there, but Anakin doesn’t.
