Rogue Squadron

The next Star Wars feature film to hit the big screen will be Rogue Squadron, directed by Patty Jenkins. The story will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy. Rogue Squadron arrives in theaters Christmas 2023.

Disney doesn’t want to admit they screwed up with their sequel trilogy. If they set EVERYTHING in The Mandalorian timeframe they would be admitting no one cares about the sequel timeframe. I feel placing Rogue Squadron post-TROS was forced by a need for content in that time.

It should take place after. As Anakin is “justifying” his actions as he believes Padme is on his side in his thinking. Hence the whole “YOU TURNED HER AGAINST ME!!!” line on Mustafar. He believes his actions are supported by Padme.

I think we can paint a clear picture with the new Star Wars content on Disney+, and their goal to connect the canon between time periods. Here is how I think the new shows will play out.

The High Republic: (Pre-Episode I)

• The Acolyte - A show based upon the formation of “The Acolytes of the Beyond” from the Aftermath books. Darth Plagueis will feature and there will be a young Palpatine. This show will be used to tie-in to the Sith Eternal from The Rise of Skywalker.

The Dark Times: (Between Episodes III-IV)

• The Bad Batch - Commander Cody will play a role in the show. The show will reveal the aftermath of the clones post Order 66 and set up Cody hunting for Obi-Wan and the Bad Batch being tasked with silencing enemies of the Empire.

• Obi-Wan Kenobi - Commander Cody will be the big bad. The show will revolve around Obi-Wan trying to contact remaining Jedi and making too much noise in the process, drawing the attention of Cody and Darth Vader. Obi-Wan will “die” at the end and Ben will be born.

• Lando - Used to show a history of Lando and act as a sequel to Solo.

• Andor - Used to show a history of Cassian and act as a prequel to Rogue One.

The New Republic: (Between Episodes VI-VII)

• Rangers of the New Republic - This show will be used to expand the timeline between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Expect to see cameos from “de-aged” OT characters. The show will culminate with the New Republic discovering the plans of the First Order and Leia organizing the Resistance.

• Ashoka - This will act as a prequel show to the rumored sequel series to Rebels. I feel this will show what Ashoka was up to BEFORE she meets up with Sabine in the epilogue of Rebels. It was hinted by Dave Filoni that her appearance in The Mandalorian takes place before the end of Rebels, and if this show takes place in The Mandalorian timeline…

A New Beginning: (After Episode IX)

• Rogue Squadron - Will introduce the state of the galaxy post The Rise of Skywalker, potentially being a launching pad for post The Rise of Skywalker content.

• A Droid Show - Used to right the wrongs of the sequel trilogy and give us a lot more C-3PO and R2-D2. Droids from various time periods will cameo.

I never interpreted that scene as happening the same time as the others. I would just leave it as is. The purpose of the end of ROTS is to show what happened to each Skywalker character before Episode IV and to set up their journey in the OT. I always assumed it was just a flash-forward showing us all what we know is coming.

Why do I have a feeling this will involve Darth Plagueis and “The Acolytes of the Beyond” leading into the history of who they are and how they end up worshipping Palpatine. I think Exegol and TROS references will be high in this one.

As long as Obi beats him good again and before vanishing for a second time tells him, “You still have much to learn, Darth.”

Will you also be reissuing the alternative ending cut for LoE? Will they be dubbed V7?

Not gonna lie… Temuera Morrison’s line delivery in Mando sounds a lot closer to Jason Wingreen’s delivery than his own recorded lines for Empire in '04.

You and me both! I can live with a planet being another retread of a desert planet but Luke looks like he belongs in a metal cover band for Max Rebo.

Just thought of a fun change that could make for a good easter egg. When Rey is on Pasanna and stumbles across the kids watching the puppet show, how hard would it be to make it look like Luke versus the First Order and slightly extend the shot as a nice callback to TLJ. Especially with Rey’s reaction afterwards. Doesn’t seem like it would be too complicated for someone to mock up. Not even sure if it is worth the trouble though…

Or just leave it that Leia was waiting for her son to fully come back to the light and the final two Skywalker’s “rise” above

Maz handing Chewie the medal at the end of ROS doesn’t contradict with giving him a medal in ANH:R. He wasn’t being presented with his own medal in ROS. Maz was giving him Han’s medal, that Leia had been keeping. It was a memento of the friends he had lost and it was being passed down to him. It was an inheritance, not a prize.

Totally new way of looking at that. I like it!

I understand that Revisited is its own canon, however, has the thought of reversing the change of Chewie getting a medal to not conflict with “The Rise of Skywalker” been considered?
